2024 Philadelphia Eagles - With a tricep held together by duct tape and rubber bands, Brandon Graham added to the SB roster. (93 Viewers)

No practice for jurgens

Add the fact that they signed a vet to PS yesterday that can play all 5 OL positions, and this doesn't bode well for him playing Sunday.

Not cool but dickerson can play center
I posted in another thread but the eagles typically don’t shuffle Olinemen around. If Jurgens can’t play then they’ll start Nick Gates and keep everyone else where they belong. No reason to take a hit at two spots.
I know you’re right that Stout doesn’t like to make them weak at 2 positions, but with Cam out, Landon was taking reps at C today and Steen was LG. That’s according to ESP.

Yeah I saw that on bleeding green. I’m surprised but I guess that feels better. Steen is a capable backup

Hurts and Q both were limited participants in today’s walkthrough and are expected to play Sunday.

Goedert (Ankle) and Jurgens (Back) were DNPs which is concerning. We’ll see what they do in tomorrow’s full practice.
They also signed former Bama TE Cameron Latu to the PS so it’s either precautionary or something more thee.

I believe we have better and healthier backups than we did in '17 & '22. While these injuries to various starters are a bit worrisome, they are not yet terribly concerning to me. Not yet. We are aware of their ailments and that the players are doing what is needed to overcome them. They will. The Eagles will. One way or another. I view missed practices as body wellness days at this point in the season.
Burks is a huge downgrade. He’s a glorified special teams player. His biggest claim to fame was a penalty in the SB that cost SF the year they were there.

He played well last week 🤷‍♂️

After Joe Witts comments about hitting Hurts like he's a RB. Barrett Brooks sounded like he was ready to suit up and show Washington what was up. He was fired up.

I know Joe is the DC for Washington but who the heck is he hitting he never played in the NFL and Jalen would truck him. Ok he's referring to his players. What the heck is Joe doing. He's he now a motivational speaker for the Eagles.

I see no benefit to publicly stating that. I mean, I get it, you are trying to strike fear in your opponent but in reality, everyone knows you are going to be doing this regardless-its doesn't need to be said. At best you've put this on the radar of the league and the refs. I predict at least one flag thrown for roughing the passer that maybe the zebras would have kept in their pocket previously. Especially with the narrative already being out there that Frankie Luvu is a dirty player. Just don't understand the thinking behind this one.

I agree. I thought the same thing when Jason Kelce said the eagles players are better at every position than the commanders
Kelce isn't a player/coach anymore though. His words are the same as any other analyst.

Yeah, Kelce is a talking head now. The comments by Witt showed his inexperience with the media. Some things are better left unsaid.

Cam Jurgens and Dallas Goedert are both warming up at practice. Not a guarantee for Sunday but obviously encouraging news.

They're both playing. I'm more interested in seeing video of how Jalen Hurts is moving around.
Saw some footage where he looked pretty good. Everyone interviewed (Mailata, Lane, Dickerson) all said he looked great and was more energetic than normal. FWIW.

I'm smelling an Eagles roll on Sunday. I'll wait for the Friday reports before posting my score.

I'm hearing that in practice that Jalen is not spry and seems to be hobbling. However, he will be starting. I see the Eagles rallying around him even more due to the Witt comments.

WFan Pittsburgh guys were mentioning it. I don't have a link it was on the radio. But this article mentions he will be wearing a brace.
He was a full participant today. I would be shocked if he didn't wear a brace on Sunday. I've heard conflicting info but I'm guessing he has a sprained MCL and will not be 100%.

Everyone watching should expect Dan Quinn to crash Saquon immediately and see if Jalen pulls and goes. If he does, that means he has the greenlight to run and we will be very tough to beat. If he doesn't? Well, us Eagles fans are gonna have four long quarters of puckering sphincters.

Over the top to AJ Brown first play of the game. I don't care if its Marshon Lattimore or the rookie CB. Even better if they come out like they did v Pittsburgh.

saw this from nbc10 Ashlyn Sullivan and talking to a few people this sounds very real

Darius Slay is preparing for Sunday to be his last home game at Lincoln Financial field.

Slay told me this week after having conversations with his family, he is 85% leaning towards playing one more season, but understands it most likely won’t be with the Eagles. When I asked him about the emotion of playing his last home game this weekend, he said he isn’t allowing himself to get caught up in the future.

Slay confirms he will definitely not play more than 13 seasons in the NFL and looks forward to watching Eagles games from a box… not in the snow… in the near future.

The team was apparently not happy with his performance most of the year and how he reacted to being called out for poor play early in the season. Going on Parsons podcast earlier I was told ruffled a lot of feathers and there were conversations from Eagles higher ups on going on opposing players pod and proper ways of acting. Basically if you are going on to be a jerk about your current team etc probably best not to go on. Team leaders had a conversation after that incident with Nick, Lurie and Howie and things were talked out. Ruling pretty much was the whole team got a verbal warning if they did what slay did punishment would follow. You’re an Eagle and this is your family. Be respectful of them.

Was told also no one had an issue with Graham calling out AJ and Hurts on WIP. BG is very respected and if he was publicly saying it, than it was meant as a warning if you two don’t fix your **** yourselves well do it and you won’t like our way. Incident was handled and everyone moved on.

Overall given how well the rookies have played the team does feel they can move on from slay this offseason. Slay would retire but I think just wants to play one more year. He’s lost a step or two for sure. He’s been good in the playoffs so hopefully that continues till the end.

Just looking at Hurts pass attempts in the playoffs.

In losses: 43, 38, 35

In wins: 24, 25, 21, 20

I agree they have to run the ball, but you haven't learned anything about this particular stat and its meaning since you did this in the Buffalo game with Lamar, have you? Again, it might not be that when he throws the Eagles lose; but rather, when the Eagles are losing, he throws more. Big difference.

The Eagles were either tied or in the lead the entire Super Bowl until 12:04 in the 4th. Hurts had 31 pass attempts before the Chiefs took the lead. But yeah, keep running with the line that Hurts threw more because he was behind. Just because you think something seems or sounds logical, doesn't necessarily make it so.

One of the worst outcomes as a fan would be a loss where Ertz, beloved former Eagle and SB 52 hero, kills us over the middle all game with Nakobe out. Ugh, that would be tough to stomach.

Our defense got zero stops the second half. Bad memories

How about watching Josh Harris, the worst owner in Philadelphia Sports in at least the last 25 years, hoisting the NFC Championship trophy in the Eagles house? Talk about a ****ing disaster.

Man, Howie has absolutely killed the first three rounds of the last 4 drafts.

2021: DeVonta Smith, Landon Dickerson and Milton Williams
2022: Jordan Davis, Cam Jurgens and Nakobe Dean
2023: Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, Tyler Steen and Sydney Brown
2024: Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean and Jalyx Hunt

Jayden Daniels is the 6th rookie QB to start a conference title game. The previous QBs are 0-5.
These are the other 5

  • Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers, 2022
  • Mark Sanchez, New York Jets, 2009
  • Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens, 2008
  • Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers, 2004
  • Shaun King, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 1999
I think Daniels has played at a higher level than all of them did as rookies. Pretty sure they were all basically game managers. Kliff has helped Daniels a ton, but it feels more like they are winning because of him than any of those 5.

It’s crazy how far he’s come. Remember Tom Donahoe’s reaction when Howie traded down, picked up an extra pick and took Milton? I’d have to do some digging, but wouldn’t be surprised if the guy Donahoe wanted is out of the league.

Purdy was having a pretty big impact on the niners but then Reddick ruined that for him real quick.

I don't know who is making these videos but man the Eagles video editors are on point.

However, all of those QBs had top 5 defenses. WSH having a bottom-third D is the biggest thing Daniels has going against him.

He wanted Alim McNeill, who just signed a 4-year $100 million extension, so Donahoe wasn’t wrong to think we missed out on a good player.

Tarron Jackson is who we took with the 6th rounder we got for moving down 3 spots.

Yeah, I thoight I remembered thet it was McNeil. So, Donahoe was right. Just, Howie was right, too.

All things equal, I’d probably take McNeill over Milton. But, I’d love it if we re-signed Baun and Milton this off season.

Becton has been great, but I think the NFCCG is a try out to see how well Steen plays. If he looks decent, they let Becton go.

I mean, that’s kind of my point. I’m certainly not saying he will definitely lead them to a win, but I’m not sure that the results of the previous championship games with rookie qbs are particularly predictive.
