*** 2024 Pittsburgh Steelers: No injury designation for RB J. Warren (4 Viewers)

Bleccccch. Pretty much exactly what I expected from the offense. No turnovers from Fields was nice, at least.

They aren't going to be able to play like that on O, and get penalized that much no D, and expect to win very often.

Bottom line: Steelers don't have TJ Watt, they don't win this game.

They need to just throw to pickens more — like sometimes just throw it no matter what.

This. Catch/no catch, the dude gets his hands on the ball more often than not when it goes his direction, whether he's "got separation" or not.

Fields made a few real bad throws early, horrid misses on wide open guys middle/short. Seemed to have more accuracy on the longer stuff they had him attempt as the game went on ( have only watched once though). That's certainly Pickens' strength at this point in time...so why not leverage it? (Well, other than the OL not being up to snuff, but that is what it is no matter what they attempt).

The D looked good. The formula is going to be the same as the last few years -- and how we won in the 90s. Just need the O to score TDs. They looked better -- Fields had a bad first 1-2 series, but then he was infinitely better looking than KP back there. Just seemed more comfortable. Really need a WR2 though. Started a rookie at C and a 2nd year 7th rounder who never started at G for us before on the road week1. They get a pass.

Tomlin ball 1-0

Bill Cowher just said “there is no need to rush Russell Wilson back… right now Justin Fields, this is your team.”
Agree with the chin but I will bet that Tomlin is going to start Wilson for this revenge game against the Broncos.

I don’t think it’s the right move but if does start Wilson he needs to be on a very short leash

Yeah I agree that I think he will go with Wilson once he's fully healthy. I do believe Tomlin will give him a very short leash. Learn from his mistakes from last year of sticking with a guy too long (aka Trubisky fiasco).

The Broncos game would have been the one game that I wanted to see Russell Wilson start. To wipe the smug off of Sean Peyton's face in the revenge game. I thought the way that Sean handled the situation last year in Denver with RW was petty. Anyways not a Sean Peyton fan and only a Russell Wilson fan because he's a Steeler. But I'm so hoping that in the long-term Sean Peyton ends up being that head coach who people say was only as good as his QB.

TJ Watt was impressive as others have mentioned.

Payton Wilson had an impressive debut in his first NFL game with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He led the team in tackles with seven, including one for a loss. Wilson also made a crucial tackle to stop the Atlanta Falcons from scoring a touchdown. His performance earned praise from teammates and coaches, including T.J. Watt, who highlighted Wilson’s speed and ability to absorb information.

Wilson’s strong start suggests he has a bright future ahead, especially if he continues to develop and stay healthy.

I'm flying out to Denver on Friday and will be at the game. Looking forward!

That article about Payton leading tackles is from August and is talking about that preseason game against Houston. He had three tackles against Atlanta.

I took a flier on Payton Wilson at +3500 to win AFC DROY before the season started. The main risks were Tomlin and his trepidation to start rookies sometimes, and the possibility he may not rack up any stats while still playing really well. Hopefully he sees more and more time on the field.

He still led the ILBs and he was noticeable on the field I thought.

Yeah, me too. I was really happy both as a fan and as a guy with a lotto ticket.

Most teams would lose more often without their best player, it’s just that most teams their best player is their QB. If the Chiefs lost Mahomes they'd lose more too.
Actually very few teams have a QB as their best player. Did you state of QB play around the league last week? It wasn’t pretty. Fields wasn’t bad in comparison to the low bar that was set.

Dan Moore didn't practice today.

Jones moved to LT and Fauntanu RT.
Moore was one of the highest graded tackles last week.

Dan Moore Jr. gotta love him he is an overachiever. Eventually he will be a backup.
Tackles develop slowly in the NFL. I think he is an above average starter at LT going forward. Probably will be for somebody else next year though.

Wonder the odds for next year that Dan Moore stays and Fautanu moves to G to replace Daniels.

Not saying that’s what I would do but wondering if Steelers see that as an option.

Is Denver still terrible at run defense?

Vegas odds are Steelers -3 with a putrid 36.5 points scored. Have us winning 20-17

With a rookie QB vs our defense, good chance we can contain their offense and let Najee run. Need to keep the penalties to a minimum especially the offense.

They didn't start badly vs Walker last week, but they wore down eventually. Their D played well overall vs Geno and company on the road. If Surtain shadows Pickens it will be a long day for George. Run game will be the key for both teams.

Should be another low scoring contest.

Sounds like Fields starting the next 2 games. Seems like they want to give him a chance to show what he can do at home and then we may or may not have a real QB controversy.
to me, that's great news! thought he'd get a chunk of the season to develop. work out some footwork issues, but he's improved quite a bit already. would love to see Fields realize his potential with the Steelers

Probably some Pickens owners in here. In my short league he's pretty much a WR'3/Flex with upside. If your options are limited - do you start him?
