2025 Detroit Lions: 1-1 Lion crush Da Bears. Still seats available on the Bandwagon. (259 Viewers)

Sure. He played behind one of the better OLs on one of the best offenses in the NFL and did his damage late in the year when he was fresh after sitting on the Carolina bench most of the year while opposing defenses were tired and banged up from the grind of the season. Don't get me wrong, he is an upgrade over Blount but it doesn't move the needle for me. I still think a day 3 pick should be spent on a RB.
I agree but CJ is more than adequate for one season.

I do wonder why it is a guy like CJ got a job before Yeldon. I wonder if it just comes down to their financial demands.

I could live with it because Snacks and Ashawn might only have another year here but I hate to admit we could lose 2 of our best players in a year.
Well that would be a big hint on their part that new contracts were not in the works for one or both.  Either way, I expect them to pick front 7 D, even if there are good corners or offense players out there.

Man....its not Staffords fault but all that stuff with his wife has to be a huge distsaction....t&p.....i thought the kids being born last year would be one as well.....

Saw on Twitter that the Lions have added to almost all their holes in FA: WR, CD, DE, Rb. All except LB. They basically have 3 LBs on the roster. I wonder if that is a big clue they want one of the 2 Devins? I prefer Bush for Detroit as I think he has some skills Davis doesn't and there is too much overlap between White and Davis.

Do you mean Devin White?

Maybe I was unclear there. When I said Davis I meant Jarrad Davis. I think Davis and White have similar strengths and weaknesses. Both are like heat sinking missiles but will run themselves out of plays at times and aren't great in pass coverage. Devin Bush has better instincts and is better in pass coverage. I think a Bush/Davis combo is better than a White/Davis combo.

This is why "best player available" is such a loaded phrase. What's best for one team or scheme is not best for another.  Yet most fans think of it all as plug and play. "Better team" liked him a pick later, why not our stupid team? "

Quinn presser today had a couple interesting points

1. Deep OL with guy in every round who are versatile which they like

2. Great DL class with some top talents who don’t have prototypical size but in the modern NFL those guys have value in the new NFL.

If we are trying to get clues for 8, I would say Jonah Williams, Ed Oliver and Brian Burns seem to potentially be who he’s hinting at

Yes, hint is a good word. No reason to show your cards other than to make the media's job easier.

Saw on twitter (fan page) she had her surgery yesterday. Hope everything went well. Obvs brain surgery is always scary but I’ve had a few friends come through it fine the last 5 years.

(just saw a mom of another dancer in my daughters ballet class who had a tumor removed 5-1/2 years ago & it reminded my of KB.)

First quarter schedule looks kinda tough:

@ARI

LAC

@PHI

KC

Then comes the bye week. I feel like each of last three “quarters” of the schedule offer the possibility 3 wins each, but that first quarter is really crucial. We were beat up & woefully unprepared last season coming out of PS. Actually, we looked woefully unprepared in every phase of the game during the 4 PS games, so in hindsight losing to the Jets starting a rookie QB had been foreshadowed.

Hopefully Coach Patricia learned some valuable lessons last year & we don’t see a repeat of that debacle.

Weeks 6-9

@GB (MNF)

MIN

NYG

@OAK

Weeks 10-13

@Bears

DAL

@WAS

CHI (Thanksgiving)

Weeks 14-17

@MIN

TB

@DEN

GB

Of course a lot is going to happen over the next 4-1/2 months so who knows, but that’s my initial take.

I hate that opening schedule, things could get ugly if we start 1-4
Just how the NFL likes it. Take the wind out of our sails early. Last year I said I wouldn’t watch them if we lost the opening Jets game (I basically didn’t didn’t even tune them in again until week 10 or so after that loss....and probably caught one entire game collectively through the remainder of the year). This year we are faced with a similar week one start against Arizona....we lose that game the season is already at peril based on that the beginning of that schedule.

2-2 start would be something good if they could do it. Coaches love to divide the season into quarters, that 4 game pre bye schedule is custom made for that thought.

Did a Lions mock using the Draft Network's mock draft machine. I probably went a little too heavy on the offense but it really stunk last year and we lost Lang. Wagner and Decker are no sure thing to be back after 2019 as the team has options on both.Marvin only has 2 more years left and will be 30 next season. The Lions didn't do anything substantial in FA for the offense.

8. Brian Burns DE/OLB FSU- He might just be a situational pass rusher year 1 as he is still on the light side but he hits everything: young, long, athletic, productive and technically refined. He is a good complement to Flowers and has the upside to be a double digit sack artist as well as providing LB like pass coverage skills.

43. Chris Lindstrom G Boston College- A super athletic guard and the film people all pretty much say he is a flawless prospect who is plug and play on day 1 in any system. He can slide in at RG right away.

88. J.J. Arcega Whiteside WR Stanford- Big body WR with decent NFL speed. Smashes the important WR metrics of dominator rating and breakout age. His best attribute is his ability to box out defenders and win jump balls. I can see him playing in the slot and filling the role Anquan Boldin played 2 years ago. He can immediately help in the red zone and ideally his game shares a lot of similarities to Marvin Jones so he could be a future replacement outside.

111. Mike Jackson CB Miami- 6'1" 200 CB who specializes in press man coverage and likes to be physical with receivers. Seems like a good fit for Detroit's scheme and could compliment Slay outside. Athletically, he has 4.45 speed, 40.5 inch vert but a worrisome short shuttle. He isn't a quick CB and doesn't have great change of direction but should do well covering WRs who like to go deep or win on jump balls.

146. Foster Moreau TE LSU- 6'4" 250 with above average speed, burst, agility and strength. Has some refinement to do with routes since LSU just didn't pass much and mostly used him as a blocker. Has upside as a blocker and as a receiver since he is a pretty rare athlete for the TE position.

184. Ulysees Grant LB Akron- On the smaller side but very athletic and has strengths in pass coverage. Kind of a LB/S tweener but there is a role for that in Detroit since Jarrad Davis has a clear weakness in pass coverage. If nothing else, he has lots of upside as an immediate special teamer.

204. Brett Rypien- QB Boise State- Solid all around backup prospect. Lions really need an upgrade at back-up QB and with the value of QB it just makes sense to draft them regularly and hope you strike gold. The ROI in the trade market is so high if you hit on one.

224. Gary Jennings Jr- WR West Virginia-  Speedster with 4.42 speed and good size at 6'1" 214. Hits the dominator and breakout age numbers. Is basically a deep threat only and is the pick I was most unsure about but adding speed to offense is an idea I like. Also I just don't know many defenders left at this point.

229. James “Boobie” Williams RB Washington State- Theo Riddick replacement. Never going to be a feature back but he had 209 receptions, 1437 yards and 8 receiving TDs out of the backfield over the last 3 seasons so he is as polished a pass catching RB as one is going to find in college. Waldman likes him and thinks he’s very slippery.

Wrong bored but Stevie Y is gonna be the Wings new GM!

:excited:

Pistons getting blown outta the playoffs without Blake, Tigers can’t score, Lions gonna lions, so I’ll take good news anywhere I can find it.

All-time favorite celebrity siting was pulling up to a silver 911 Carrera stopped at a light on E Jefferson & seeing the Stanley Cup buckled into the passengers seat. It didn’t compute what I was looking at until I realized it was the Captain driving. (two days after they swept the Flyers)

Amazing news ! Holland has done some of the grunt work last couple of years, we are effectively 1-2 years into our rebuild, can’t wait to see what happens with all the draft picks this year and hopefully a lack of  Holland-esque loyalty contracts for average players in the coming years

And just like the lions HC hire, newyawk media floating false info that had Yzerman going there. And idiots buying it.

I’m usually not one to get caught up in “celebrity” lives, but as a parent my ♥️ goes out to Matthew & Kelly. Her six hour brain surgery morphed into a twelve hour procedure, but she’s walking and was able to return home on Resurrection Sunday. Prayers up.

This is interesting

Louis Reddick explains why he thinks Devin Bush is the best player in the draft. Part of his breakdown is how desperate teams are for great athletes in the middle at S and LBto stop RBs and TEs. It got me thinking about how good Derwin James was last year. I then realized Bush is 20 pounds heavier with a faster 40 and better agility than Derwin (lacks the length) but he could have a huge impact right away in Detroit with all the big bodies they have on the DL to eat up blockers.

I wouldn’t mind drafting Devin in a trade down situation. I’m hoping someone feels the need to move up a few spots for a QB. An extra day 2 pick would be great.

Not that these draft people are always right but we might not get him in a trade back. I've heard/seen lots of speculation Devin White goes 5 and Bush goes 8-10. That gives little room for error.

It wouldn't be the first time the Lions have taken a LB at #8. The last time the Lions picked at #8 was back in 1974 where they chose a LB named Ed O'Neil. He didn't work out well for the Lions but at least he scored 4 TD's in his high school's city championship game!
