I’ll kick it off with Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). Basically a tech play on a company that has really trailed over the last year. May not have the juice needed to win, but I expect a decent return.

S&P 500: 6,535

I'll say that Luminar will get bought out this year and be an easy double: LAZR. The S&P registers the extra-diabolical 6666 by year end.

I forget who selected PLTR here last year, but :thanks: Palantir and Cava (HODL had a better return but I made more in CAVA) were quite nice for the year.

ETA: @jwb - thanks! :moneybag:

Let’s roll with RXRX, recursion pharmaceuticals.

S&P 500 to end the year down to 5555

You dance with the girl you brought - gimme PLTR one more time. It's had a sweet run this year, so that type of growth may be off the table because of the P/E, but then again they were saying that when it was in the 30's too.

S&P 6750

$UNH they’re too big to fail and I think the new administration will look favorably on the big insurers. Stock is down because of the assassination and the public’s reaction, but that’ll fade and fall out of the news cycle.

Looks like the major pencil companies are either private or trade on another country's exchange.

Want to make sure I have a choice in though I may change in the next week but right now I will go with IP.
S and P prediction 4420.69

Zoinks. Were you in an altered state of consciousness when making this post? 30% decline in the S&P? Pencils?

Will go with the same pick as last year. I think I was just a year early - IOVA

Bonus pick under $5 is AUTL

Have a great year all - with stocks and life 🙏

Still couldn't find a good pencil company. I'm trying to figure out the right stock that will be resilient enough for what's to come. One thought is precious metals. The other is basically resources or consumer goods that are basically mandatory to live. IP was a play based on its 1930s performance but that ended up being because it was a sneaky defense stock (somebody had to make all those fuses for example). Anyway I cast around for a water stock that led me to VMI. I'm going to change that to my official pick. (Wanted to go with a silver stock GATO because it's fun to say but decided against that). Stocks like McDonald's and Flowers Foods were in the mix too but I won't do that. I thought about VALE as a precious metals sort of play.

Considered revising my S and P prediction to the slightly more optimistic 4694.20 but will keep that number where I have it.

So there you go.

Stock Pick: VMI (Valmont Industries Inc).

S and P 500: 4420.69

I am going to be lazy and put the year end value of VMI here for my own reference. I see it is 306.67.

Much more confident in my S&P pick tbh - I think the one time I finished top 3 was back when we were allowed to options and I bet against a company that went out of business (thus 100%)
