2025 Green Bay Packers Thread (2 Viewers)

Okay going into the draft I figured Packers would use first couple of picks on the defensive front.

Kenny Clark was a shell of himself last year, was abysmal as a run stopper, and played way too many snaps. At this point in his career his snaps should be drastically reduced to keep him fresh, with a focus of being on the field on passing downs, and rotated on obvious run downs. DeVonte Wyatt was also a very bad run defender.

Lukas Van Ness has been an utter bust. Horrible as a rusher and he was supposed to at the very least be able to set the edge on run downs. That hasn’t worked out at all.

The Packers decided not to address this issue in free agency. The weakest part of this team by far.

First pick spent on a receiver who “may” have run a 4.29 40 but does not play at sub 4.3 speed. And then they decide to go with an OL despite spending a first on Jordan Morgan last year. And the fact that the O Line is pretty solid as Zach Tom is the likely player who will need to be re-signed. Total head scratcher. Then they take another speedy receiver with questionable hands and production in the 3rd. Make it make sense.

Looking for this one, glad to see it pop up.

Agree the defensive front is sub par. For all the high end draft capital spent here there's very little to show for it. A pass rush is pretty much non existent. Really hoped this would be addressed in FA and the first 3 rounds of the draft and was disappointed it didn't happen.

Corner was another area of need and injury rumors or not Wiil Johnson would have made me giddy, or any others in the next tier. Particularly i would have liked Shavon Revel in the second if Will Johnson scared them off.

I don't hate the Golden pick. It's an area of need and I think he can turn into a WR1 with a little luck. A gadget/return guy in the third i didn't like and adding OL depth in the second with their needs on D was a mystery pick to me.

Add to the fact that it certainly doesn't sound like Alexander is coming back and i can't understand totally punting on D with the first 3 picks.

Picking up Isaiah Simmons seems like a good move. Kick the tires and see what's there. Wasn't that long ago he was a top 10 pick and sometimes a change in scenery can jumpstart a stagnant career. Can't see any downside.

All that said, this offense looks pretty good on paper and outside of catastrophic injury they should be able to keep up with anyone in a shoot out. They want to run the ball too, which i love and Jacobs is a total stud. Getting Lloyd back healthy hopefully adds a dynamic change of pace guy to the mix aswell. Defense is a work in progress, but the offense has the potential to be as good as any in the league.

Any thoughts on Musgrave this year? Pretty high pick at 42 overall in 2023 and we've yet to see him do much of anything yet due to injury.

Also that receiver room is getting pretty crowded, we've had to have seen the last of Watson in a packers jersey?

It is obvious Musgrave has talent but he really had some horrible drops last year coupled with mental mistakes. If he can stay healthy I wouldn’t be surprised if has a nice season as a receiver. Hasn’t really progressed as a blocker though.

I feel like Watson is a slow healer so wouldn’t be surprised if he misses entire season. He assuredly won’t be back in 2026.

After many decades of following this team I don't have any expectations from the rookies to make any impact at all. The first few picks only make sense when you consider the rookie contracts that are expiring in the next two years. I'm looking at the guys from 2022 and 2023 to step up. The two first round defenders from Georgia ('22), LVN, Musgrave, Reed and Wicks from '23 and Jordan Morgan from last year. None of these guys has earned a second contract yet but all still have great potential.

Overall I think the team (sadly) took a step back last season and that has to be corrected or it's time for new coaches and management. Mark Murphy is retiring this summer. We can expect Ed Policy to continue with the same approach and culture since he's been with the team for so long, but no one should be surprised if he decides to bring in his own people next year if the team doesn't improve.

I think Golden can step in and make a difference this year. How big is the question to me. With his speed he can take the top off the defensive like Watson did when healthy. The offense needs that and wasn't as good without the threat imo.

I agree with the guys you mentioned from the 22 and 23 classes. This is the year they'll need to step up. Walker is decent, but lacks awareness. Wyatt feels rotational at best. Van Ness is just big, doesn't offer much else from what we've seen. Wicks can be pretty good, but the most important part of the position is catching the ball, doesn't matter if you're always open if you drop it. Reed is solid. Musgrave is a mystery with all the injuries. Get two or more to take a step forward and they're on to something.

They were definitely stagnant last year compared to the year before, maybe it was regression, but i think they just maintained and didn't necessarily get worse (Love's injury issues hampered him a good part of the season). There's too much talent and high draft capital on D to be as average as they are. I don't have high hopes for improvement here unless they can generate a pass rush. If they take a step back this year and miss the playoffs changes might be inevitable like you say. On paper this team should be a contender. If Alexander stays with the team, is motivated and healthy I see that as a bonus that I'm not counting on, but would be a solid upgrade to the D.

No international games for the Pack this year, thank God! And a big shout out to Minnesota for picking up an extra and going back to back. Thank you for your service vikes.

Not a Packers insider. Just kind shocked they would just release a 28 year old top 10 cornerback. I know they tried to trade him, but release him?

I mean, I kind of get it, he's expensive and hasn't really played much in the last 2 years. Having said that though, he is absolutely still a top-10 CB, and they have done nothing to fill that spot, which is a Packer trend, and why I'd argue Gute is a vastly overrated GM. On the flip side, I'd argue Matt LaFleur is a vastly underrated HC, who maximizes a team with very middling talent.

Can't help but think Howie Roseman or Eric DeCosta will be making the move to get an elite player on a 1-year deal.

Contract issues make for bad blood and the rumors about irreconcilable differences have been swirling for awhile. At times last year he would practice all week and then sit out the game. I think pretty much every Packer fan knew this was inevitable.

If he can stay healthy congratulations on who signs him. He's a stud when he plays, which hasn't been a lot, but a one year deal to a contender makes all the sense in the world. I'm really sad to see him go he was a favorite, but both he and the packers needed to part ways.

Damn. Didn't know he did that. Ugly.

Jaire won't be missed. His 2023 contract extension was at a salary that's still in the top 2-3 in the league and he's not nearly the same player. The injuries are a major concern, especially with him being cleared to practice multiple weeks down the stretch last season but then being a gameday scratch. It got old for me. When healthy, he's still an above average cover guy but he hasn't hit anyone since his shoulder injury 4 years ago. His bark is much more fearsome than his bite.

Totally agree. He became a head case when he signed his big contract a few years ago and basically became a diva/cancer in the locker room and acting like his excrement didn't stink. Several incidents of him ignoring the coach because he wanted to do what he wanted to do (i.e. Going out on the field during the coin toss when he wasn't a captain, for one example) just added to the list of reasons he needed to go.

Diva's and head cases can usually be tolerated if their talent makes up for it, but as soon as he signed his contract he got injured and has barely played half a season, much less a full season for the last couple of years. He just wasn't worth his contract at this point. I, for one, am glad he's gone but I wish him the best of luck.

Gary is gonna go nuts too with parsons on the other side and if Van Ness clicks (looking like a long shot, but you never know) this could get really ugly for opposing QBs (looking at you Goff).

Respectfully man, you spoke a bit too soon on the "Packers decided not to address this issue in free agency" part.

There's no excuses for Hafley anymore. Cooper is only going to improve. If he can get LVN and Quay on track, get Gary back in form and hold the back line together with duct tape and twine, they could have a top 10 defense and then its just up to Love and company to deliver. I'm not concerned in the slightest about losing Clark and I stopped caring about draft picks and salary caps years ago.

They were going to likely move on from Clark and his contract after this year as it was. Add Golden in the first this year…this is like getting Parsons for a first next year but getting an extra year from him…and then losing that 2027 1st. Im 100% ok with that part. Now, the changes that will be made because of the contract are another story.

Thankfully Morgan has shown improvement as they will let Walker leave…Jenkins won’t be getting more…and wouldn’t surprise me of they move on from him after this year.

Dows this happen if it was status quo with Mark Murphy rather than Policy giving some urgency for Gutey and Lafleur?

Still not a fan of them not addressing d line early in draft.

My thoughts on deal and current Packers roster:

I just cannot believe they actually made an aggressive move like this. Shocked. If you are going to make a player the highest paid non-qb in the league, Parsons is exactly that player. 26 years old, multiple all pros, prolific pass rusher. And what did Packers give up? Likely two late firsts and a defensive tackle whose best days are way behind him. An absolute fleecing.

I still have serious concerns regarding stopping the run - although DTs all have their own strengths, can they do enough to become a solid run stopping line? My hope is someone like Stackhouse really takes on the lane clogging defensive tackle role. Van Ness has been a trainwreck so far so any production from him would be a bonus but I am not counting on it. Gary and Parsons off the edge is scary and Hafley has a ton of versatile linebackers to use in creative blitz packages. I think Cooper is going to be a star. The addition of Parsons is going to take a ton of pressure off the secondary and I love our safeties. Really missed out on not addressing defense in first two rounds though in my opinion. Anthony Belton has looked super shaky so far. That’s the pick I think the packers could have used on a defensive tackle.

On offense it would be great if everyone could stay healthy. I’m actually not concerned with the OLine this year and have a feeling Jordan Morgan is going to work out. Next year might be a different store with the cap squeeze (goodbye Wheeler, Goodbye Elgton?). But they will find a way to patch together a good line. Marshawn Lloyd just looks like he can’t stay healthy which is a shame because he looked ridiculous in camp, and the play he got injured on showed the pass catching element he could bring to the offense. Not counting on him at all. I feel fine with Emmanuel Wilson backing up Jacobs and hope he is actually used more to take some pressure off Josh. The draft pick that was actually growing on me was Savion Williams after watching his TCU highlights. I can see now that Lafleur would use him in the backfield and on sweeps. What an impressive athlete. But alas, he can’t stay healthy. With that said I still think receivers will be okay with Golden, Doubs, Reed (although looks like he won’t ever be 100% this year with that Jones fracture), Wicks (who I think makes a big comeback) and Watson when he returns. Tucker Kraft should lead the passing offense and it sounds like Lafleur is going to get him the ball.

Now to the biggest question: which Jordan Love will show up? 2023 on fire Jordan Love, or 2024 maddeningly inconsistent Love. And should we fear he has become injury prone? I am going to stay positive. His receivers did him no favors last year with drops. And I think he has weapons to succeed this year. If Marshawn Lloyd can get healthy and Savion too, will give Love some trusted check down players who can do damage after the catch.

Overall I am very excited about this team after the Parsons trade. Health permitting there is no reason Green Bay can’t be in mix for a trip to the Super Bowl.

I really think Love is going to be just fine. I think he's more 2023 than 2024. That injury in week 1 lingered and it felt like he came back to quick. WRs have to be better, it's the NFL and if it's in your catch radius you have to hang on.

It's been said over and over, but this is still the youngest team in the league and they've had growing pains, but the talent is there, coaching is top notch, and I expect the jump into one of the top teams in the league this year.

I would say this before yesterday and after yesterday anything less will be very disappointing.

Eta. They're also the favorites to win the division over a pretty talented lions team. Giddy up.

Haven’t looked to into it but definitely intrigued. Sacks were a weakness…now you should have pressure increasing which will help with an already opportunistic style of defense to create turnovers. McKinney has to be excited.

NFL Fan of the Year, Tom Grossi, is streaming the Brazil game on his YouTube channel. This is pretty unprecedented for an NFL YouTuber to get the NFLs permission for an official stream.

Go check him out. Oh yea he's a packer fan.

A former Green Bay Packers quarterback was cited for disorderly conduct in Eau Claire after an alleged bar disturbance on Water St. According to the incident report, police were called to Brothers Bar around 11 p.m. on August 29, 2025, for an undesirable person. The caller said a man refused to leave the bar after choking an employee.
Officers spoke with the man, identified as Don Majkowski, outside of the bar. He told police he was "jumped" because boyfriends of the girls at the bar were jealous of him because he was a former NFL player. When a bartender tried to break up the fight, he said Majkowski grabbed his throat. A picture with the police report shows red marks on the bartender's neck after the incident.
Police cited Majkowski for disorderly conduct. Police noted he was extremely intoxicated and was unable to unlock his phone to contact his Uber. Police drove Majkowski to the Best Western, where he told officers he was staying. Police were later called back because Majkowski did not have a room there. He was staying at the other Best Western.

Majik man still has a little bit of that magic left in the tank. You love to see it :lmao:

I have to try and avoid overreacting to week one, but that said…

After a couple years of being bullied by the lions, this was a complete reversal, the Packers completely manhandled them. The line play on both sides was so much better than Detroit. Love had plenty of time to throw and Goff was constantly under pressure. Whether that was due to the Lions regressing or the Packers advancing remains to be seen.

I do think playing at home in Week 1 is an advantage. Having the crowd on your side has to help with timing and getting your sealegs after the offseason, especially since nobody plays in preseason. The Lions looked off-rhythm all day, and I recall the Packers looking much the same in the few years previously where they opened on the road.

What a satisfying game that was. Watching the roster get built, go through growing pains, seeing the flashes of a great team, topping it off with the Parsons trade and we saw it pay dividends last night. I don't think it was a surprise to Packer fans, but the domination in the trenches were more than I could have hoped for.

LVN, Gary, Parsons not much to say. Wow comes to mind. This is a problem for everybody.

Wooden and Wyatt in the middle looked great. I love Kenny Clark, but they play like this and you can see why they were comfortable moving on.

Cooper is a stud, the rest of the league is gonna know his name, Quay looked rock solid, Mckinney and Williams among the best safety duo's in the league. Corners, who knows, they didn't see much action. This defense looks lethal as it should with all the high draft capital put into it.

Oline dominated, WRs are a problem for fantasy, but loving that they can all step up when needed, Kraft is a weapon and it's nice to know a guy like Musgrave is also available. Better days ahead for the running game, but Jacobs got stronger as the game went on and when they need to lean on him he'll be there. Love looked so so comfortable, poised, and in control. Injuries slowed him last year and we got a look at the promising play from 2023 last night.

It's week one, but it's hard not to get excited about this team. We all knew they were capable of looking this good and they delivered against a lot of people's NFC super bowl pick. It's a long season, but what a start, bring on Washington.

GO PACK GO!!

Is Wilson or Brooks better to have in dynasty, or would it just be a muddled committee if Jacobs went down? I had assumed Wilson would be RB2 in GB, but he got outsnapped (9 to 2) and out-touched (2 to 1) by Brooks last week. Too small a sample size to really analyze, or is Brooks becoming the RB2 now?

And this is ignoring Lloyd who's hurt right now...

Muddled committee

They'll give Lloyd every chance to show who he can be if he ever gets on the field

Brooks is amazing in pass pro, which is super important when you got a $50M franchise quarterback...
