I think we need to get a bunch of us together and kind of do draft mode.
Good idea, but...
Free Agency will be very impactful
...that's the problem. Nonetheless, I'm going to put some thoughts to paper by team.
*Patriots- follow the $. They're going through a coaching, brought in a coach that's not patient with LB's, and don't have any obvious 100%ers under contract. Everyone has their price, but as it stands right now I'm not prioritizing any of them and expect their #1 to be signed in March.
*Jets- another coaching change, a defensive mind, but a locker room in dire need of a culture shake-up too. I'd think that means Mosley's toast and Quincy Williams is on shaky ground. I don't have either one, am not considering a move, but if they add a middle backer in April that'll get my attention.
*Dolphins- this is a group that's clearly frustrated with their LB group. They moved on from Jerome Baker hoping David Long was an answer, he wasn't, then they hoped Anthony Walker was an answer, he wasn't, then they hoped Tyrel Dodson was an answer, and he wasn't. This is Jordyn Brooks' show, but whoever they prioritize in March probably slides in next to him, and will command my attention.
*Bills- they've backed themselves into a corner with Matt Milano's contract. I'm holding him, but I sure don't trust him. But because of him I don't expect any other meaningful moves, Dorian Williams and Terrell Bernard will have roles, it's just how much depends on Milano.
*Browns- if his neck's okay, this is JOK's show, but is his neck okay? If not, then Hicks becomes interesting, but only if, and they have lots of youth putting pressure on him for the future. If Diabate's current manager squeezes him in cuts I'd give him a look.
*Steelers- Elandon Roberts is a UFA and Cole Holcomb is expensive / injured. I'd bet on this being a Queen / Wilson show, but we'll see where their money goes in March.
*Bengals- it's Wilson and Pratt for this year, but this looks like a great spot for a day 2 pick in April with Pratt expiring at year's end and their cheap owner being pressured to pay their stars.
*Ravens- the spot along side Roquan Smith probably doesn't matter, but if they don't do anything of consequence that may mean a level-up opportunity for Trenton Simpson. Not a bet I'm making though.
*Colts- if there is a 100% along side Zaire Franklin, tremendous value may follow. My bets have been placed on Jaylon Carlies.
*Jags- I think (key word, think) they should ignore this position in March. With Lloyd and Muma expiring, I'd keep an eye on if they make a move in April since this is a new coaching staff. Whether they do or they don't there's no reason to move on from Oluokun.
*Titans- what a mess. Murray's still there, but I wonder if his days are numbered. If they make a big move this offseason then forget what I'm about to say, but Cedric Gray is the only one (as a flier) I'm interested in. Unlike the others, he has reasons (rookie / summer injury) for underwhelming last season.
*Texans- I don't expect anything in March, but wonder if they have a dark horse move up their sleeve come April. Harris expires at season's end and Azeez has got to be on thin ice. I like / trust T'o'oTo'o, but the others leave me tugging at my collar.
Alright, that's 3 divisions, gonna pour something brown then consider circling back around again in a bit.
