IDP Guys seems to have very out of date dynasty rankings currently - Devin White top 25 LB.

Some players whose rankings stick out to me so far:
  • Kam Curl/Quentin Lake: Curl was S43 in PPG this season in the league I'm checking... why is he a top-20 dynasty safety still given his role in LA? Lake was S28 in PPG... why isn't he ranked at all? Some kind of database error?
  • Yaya Diaby: DE25 in PPG this season and young... Davenport has him at DE143 and Haseley has him at DE89. Did he lose a leg?
  • Jerome Baker: 3 teams decided they didn't want him starting for them in 2024, I can't see ranking him above guys like Dennis and Carlies.
  • Adam Butler: DT13 in PPG, why is he ranked around dynasty DT130 by Davenport and Haseley?
  • Nick Herbig: Hard to figure out what to do with him buried behind Watt and Highsmith, but I'd sure rather have a good young blocked DE on my roster than unstartable vets like Bud Dupree, Lorenzo Carter, Cam Jordan, Preston Smith, etc.
  • CJGJ: S50 in PPG, still only 27... but S25 in dynasty seems high.

Butler is 30 yrs old and got a lot of his run this year once Wilkins went on the IR. I would have to assume he takes a pretty big hit next year with Wilkins back and healthy and couple that with his age he probably should be done somewhat on the list.......but DT130 is way off base for sure.

Herbig is a tough guy to evaluate for sure. He has put up great numbers when given the chance. It almost seems like the Steelers should use him with Watt/Highsmith for three good pass rushers. I think he is also decent vs the run. But as far as ranking him I have no idea where I would actually put him. It would definitely be above the olders guys you listed though.

Great point, I forgot about Wilkins - that explains it fully. Thanks.

Herbig is definitely tough to rank but I'm holding him everywhere I could get him. He's shown great ability and the Steelers have shown great ability drafting edge guys. Mine are large rosters, though (50+).

Highsmith has the 'Potential out in 2025' note on Spotrac and his contract is noted as "...breaks down to a 2 year, $27.743M contract for practical purposes." The salary makes a massive jump to 13M, 14M, 15M if they keep him. TJ Watt has only 2025 remaining on his deal with a salary of 21M this past season and 21M for 2025. Without looking at PIT's salary cap situation, I would still wager there's no way they see 40M+ wrapped up in two edge players as a sustainable cost over the next 3-5 seasons. That is especially true given how good Herbig (and his rookie deal) look.

Troy Reeder activated from IR - it'll be interesting to see if he takes any time from Rozeboom.

Norton rankings came out yesterday. Weird - Milano and Greenlaw 1-2 at LB. There must be something weird about the system they use to rank that puts Milano near the top by default.

Also has Laiatu Latu at E131 and Dallas Turner at E168.

Never mind - not healthy enough yet to be active. I guess we have 8 months to guess.
He's a free agent. Everyone is except for Speights. I don't think we'll need to wait 8 months. We'll know come March how highly they think of Speights and we'll see where Rozenboom ends up. I don't think Reeder is a serious threat to anyone's PT, in LA or elsewhere. Best case scenario is in case of emergency, break open glass.

I added some updated ranking links. Oluokun seems to be an odd one to rank - seems like he should be ranked top-3 or 20-or-lower, nowhere in between, based on assumptions about what a new DC will do.

I don't understand FBG's ordering of players in their rankings.

I'm restricting the rankings to 4 sets (those that came out in January).
Jessie Bates: 10, 6, 4, 1
Antoine Winfield: 3, 1, 1, 7

What math puts Bates as S1 and Winfield as S2? Winfield beats Bates on average, drop highest average, drop lowest average, drop highest and lowest average... I can't see one that puts Bates ahead of Winfield.

Has anyone seen any articles on new coaches and how they affect schemes? Maybe everyone's waiting on the Saints.

Hmm - the Haggan rankings are the weirdest I've seen. I wonder if they're still from before last season, just redated rather than reworked. I see lots of ranked free agent LBs like Davion Taylor, Travin Howard, Blake Lynch, Tyrell Adams, Andrew Dowell, and Ryan Connelly, but no ranking for Demarvion Overshown, Jaylon Carlies, Christian Rozeboom, SirVocea Dennis, or Omar Speights... and these rankings that are very far off of consensus:
91 Edgerrin Cooper
81 Frankie Luvu
109 Zach Baun
82 Kaden Elliss
126 Jamien Sherwood

Brian Branch DB23 jumped out at me too

Huh - FBG must have flipped a switch, all dynasty rankings are gone other than those dated today. Haggan's rankings are dated today, but still have Baun at LB106, so I don't know what's up there.

I'm doing some averaging across sites. I need to get smarter about scraping this and matching up names, but instead I'm doing it a dumb way. Top 99 LBs across FBG, DLF, Macri, IDPShow, and FP.

I think we need to get a bunch of us together and kind of do draft mode. But thanks for list. Much appreciated

I see so many guys I would not touch high

4. Ernest Jones. FA. Bum knee. Traded twice last year
6. Olokoun. Age factor. New staff. Competition in camp.
10. Walker. I like Quay but Cooper has proven already to be better
11. Al-Shair. Opportunity there but this guy is a headcase. I just can’t touch

Free Agency will be very impactful

Some not bad rookies coming in. Kind of like the 2025 draft. I am not sure any top 10 but lots of guys who could impact these rankings

1. Jihaad Campbell ( he could end up top 10)
2. Demetrius Knight. Moving up
3. Carson Schwesinger
4. Danny Stutsman.
5. Barrett Carter
6. Chris Paul
7. Jalon Walker(which position does he play. If DE take off list)
8. Lander Barton
9. Jeffrey Bassa
10. JayHiggins/Smael Mondon/Jack

Note that I did some tweaking on some of these - if an individual ranking is 40 higher than the average, it's auto-highlighted and I look at it. Sometimes it's a ranker who won't rank anyone over about 32 years old, so fair enough... other times it's a clear skip where they missed a player, like not ranking Jared Verse in your 100-deep list of edges.

There's also some annoying stuff out there, like sites not agreeing on the position of players like Mapu and Van Noy, and FantasyPros including OLBs in LB rankings (I'm not saying it's wrong - if I can start these guys at LB on Sleeper, having them mixed can be useful... it's just different than the choice made by every other site).

I think we need to get a bunch of us together and kind of do draft mode.
Good idea, but...
Free Agency will be very impactful
...that's the problem. Nonetheless, I'm going to put some thoughts to paper by team.

*Patriots- follow the $. They're going through a coaching, brought in a coach that's not patient with LB's, and don't have any obvious 100%ers under contract. Everyone has their price, but as it stands right now I'm not prioritizing any of them and expect their #1 to be signed in March.
*Jets- another coaching change, a defensive mind, but a locker room in dire need of a culture shake-up too. I'd think that means Mosley's toast and Quincy Williams is on shaky ground. I don't have either one, am not considering a move, but if they add a middle backer in April that'll get my attention.
*Dolphins- this is a group that's clearly frustrated with their LB group. They moved on from Jerome Baker hoping David Long was an answer, he wasn't, then they hoped Anthony Walker was an answer, he wasn't, then they hoped Tyrel Dodson was an answer, and he wasn't. This is Jordyn Brooks' show, but whoever they prioritize in March probably slides in next to him, and will command my attention.
*Bills- they've backed themselves into a corner with Matt Milano's contract. I'm holding him, but I sure don't trust him. But because of him I don't expect any other meaningful moves, Dorian Williams and Terrell Bernard will have roles, it's just how much depends on Milano.
*Browns- if his neck's okay, this is JOK's show, but is his neck okay? If not, then Hicks becomes interesting, but only if, and they have lots of youth putting pressure on him for the future. If Diabate's current manager squeezes him in cuts I'd give him a look.
*Steelers- Elandon Roberts is a UFA and Cole Holcomb is expensive / injured. I'd bet on this being a Queen / Wilson show, but we'll see where their money goes in March.
*Bengals- it's Wilson and Pratt for this year, but this looks like a great spot for a day 2 pick in April with Pratt expiring at year's end and their cheap owner being pressured to pay their stars.
*Ravens- the spot along side Roquan Smith probably doesn't matter, but if they don't do anything of consequence that may mean a level-up opportunity for Trenton Simpson. Not a bet I'm making though.
*Colts- if there is a 100% along side Zaire Franklin, tremendous value may follow. My bets have been placed on Jaylon Carlies.
*Jags- I think (key word, think) they should ignore this position in March. With Lloyd and Muma expiring, I'd keep an eye on if they make a move in April since this is a new coaching staff. Whether they do or they don't there's no reason to move on from Oluokun.
*Titans- what a mess. Murray's still there, but I wonder if his days are numbered. If they make a big move this offseason then forget what I'm about to say, but Cedric Gray is the only one (as a flier) I'm interested in. Unlike the others, he has reasons (rookie / summer injury) for underwhelming last season.
*Texans- I don't expect anything in March, but wonder if they have a dark horse move up their sleeve come April. Harris expires at season's end and Azeez has got to be on thin ice. I like / trust T'o'oTo'o, but the others leave me tugging at my collar.

Alright, that's 3 divisions, gonna pour something brown then consider circling back around again in a bit.

Alright, let's dance with some more

*Broncos- both Barton and Strnad are free agents and Singleton's under contract for one more season. I could see the band being brought back together, but if they don't what they do in April becomes interesting.
*Chargers- I think they drafted Colson to be the lead guy, but based on what we saw last year I'm much less confident now. Henley is a staple, but there's nothing else to trust, especially after they sign another veteran like Perryman.
*Raiders- I don't know who's playing for them, but I don't think they're on the roster yet.
*Chiefs- this depth chart has gotten thin. If Bolton doesn't come back then they have to be looking day 2 of the draft and Chenal takes on a greater role, but I'm still skeptical that results in an 80+% role for Tranquil.
*Cowboys- new coach, but this feels like a situation in which they're going to take bigger swings elsewhere. They don't have the $ to go the veteran route, so I wonder if they go the vet minimum / mid rd pick route and limp along with Clark / Liufau and hope Overshown is ahead of schedule.
*Commies- I don't know if Wagner will be back, but I expect them to be aggressive. This is not going to be economical risks around Luvu.
*Giants- I'm not expecting any big changes, Okereke with McFadden in an 80% role and Muasau backing up. I'm more interested in what they do this offseason to paint what their plans are beyond this season as McFadden expires and they can get out of Okereke's contract.
*Eagles- this is moot if they don't bring back Baun, but despite their $ situation I think they're going to do everything they can to keep him. If so, Dean and Trotter compliment him well. If they don't, then that likely means more for Trotter, but what else do they bring in around him?

As noted before, March is gonna be fun.

3 more to go, let's start off with something spicy - the NFC South

*Panthers- Shaq's injured and gone, Jewell's mediocre and under contract, but who's beside him? Wallace makes sense and Windmon is interesting, but is that enough?
*Falcons- when he's out there Andersen's been good, but he's just not out there enough. Elliss gets one spot, but will they add a veteran contingency plan, draft Andersen's potential replacement, or both?
*Saints- with Loomis back, I assume ripping the band aid's out, so another year of Davis and Werner is likely on tap, only question is restructures.
*Bucs- I assume Dennis is going to be a starter, but would bet on him playing along side David in a complimentary role vs either someone else or him in a lead role.
*Bears- it's likely another year of Edmunds and Edwards, but with the latter expiring might a rookie be on tap?
*Lions- expect the band to be brought back for another round, but all but Campbell expire after the season.
*Vikings- another case of the band being brought back together, with Cashman playing lead.
*Packers- this could be an interesting one, if (when?) Quay Walker's option doesn't get picked up, is he shopped? If yes, someone else would need brought in to play along side Cooper, so I assume it's an option decline / start situation, but worth monitoring.
*Cardinals- the only worse LB room in the league may be the Raiders, assume Mack Wilson has a role, but it's gotta be as a 1b or #2, unless Pappoe is more than I'm giving him credit.
*Rams- okay, they're probably in the same conversation as well, but that seems to be by design. I expect Rozeboom to be re-signed, but will be he be plan A? or is that Speights?
*49ers- I'm betting Greenlaw is starting elsewhere on a prove-it deal with Winter lining up along side Warner.
*Seahawks- last but not least, does Knight elevate to a full time role? I suspect they re-up Ernest Jones and keep them in the same roles, while needing a 3rd body, but another situation to monitor.

I don't think there is an LB I omitted I'm also interested in, but feel free to add if I did.

*Giants- I'm not expecting any big changes, Okereke with McFadden in an 80% role and Muasau backing up. I'm more interested in what they do this offseason to paint what their plans are beyond this season as McFadden expires and they can get out of Okereke's contract.
https://forums.footballguys.com/threads/dynasty-lb-stashes-for-crappy-teams.815100/post-25195636 Bellefeuil said they have an out on Okereke this offseason.
Yep, I thought this was a dark horse move until they brought the leadership team back. I doubt a regime on the ropes is gonna put their faith in McFadden / Muasau, but to your point, it is a viable option if it's the path they choose.

Interesting that you see Colson as I do. I own limited shares as he was over drafted last year, but I think I might move on as efficiently as possible pre draft.
