25 Years Ago Today... January 22, 1984 (1 Viewer)

Hopefully someone will eventually right the ship for you, Raider Nation. I know it seemed like a really long time between Super Bowls XIV and XL for me as a Steeler fan, so I feel for you.

I hope better days are ahead for Oakland, as the league is much more fun when the Raiders are good.

I'd say you guys are pretty much finished until Al Davis steps down/dies. No respectable coach will even set foot near the place these days.

It's a shame, too. The Raiders are one of the league's storied franchises and I think the NFL, as a whole, will be better when they are back near the top.

January 22, 1984 . . .

The Apple Macintosh, the first consumer computer to popularize the computer mouse and the graphical user interface, is introduced during Super Bowl XVIII with its famous "1984" television commercial.

The Raiders destroyed the Washington Redskins 38-9 in Super Bowl XVIII, winning their third Lombardi Trophy.

My life as a Raider fan has been HELL ever since. So today, grant me the opportunity to honor this once-proud franchise.

:headbang:
wow...seriously 25 years huh?that was a great team!

Always liked the Raiders. Hopefully they'll win the Lombardi trophy again, and soon!
I've never been a Raiders fan but it just doesn't seem right that they aren't in the mix.

Ugh, thanks for the reminder. :headbang:

That was likely the best Redskins team of Joe Gibbs' career, and would have been remembered as one of the all-time great teams in NFL history, but for that game. They set the record for scoring, had a +42 turnover ratio (one of the most astonishing single season team stats you'll ever find), and they lost two games by a total of two points all year.
