GREEATINGS FELLOW FOOTBALL FANATICS:

We are the North Star Football League, and this will be our 26th season in 2014. We are a 16 team league, and this league is both fun and challenging. Don’t be intimidated by the league size. If you know your stuff and are active, you will be fine. We are drafting this Saturday (8/30) at 7:00PM CST, and would like to find an owner to fill our one vacant spot. In fact, two of the last four championships have been won by rookies.

We draft by auction format. Each team has $120 fake dollars to spend to land 12 players. Not sure if you’ve ever done it, but it is a lot of fun. It is nice because you can get anyone you want to start with. The minimum for any player is $1, and the maximum is whatever you can afford. We draft through the Sportsline website’s auction room (just like the regular draft room only set up for auctioning). We expand our rosters to 13 after week one using the automated waiver wire system.

The league charges a flat fee of $110, and that covers everything (franchise fee, transactions, trades, IR moves, ETC). Once you are paid up, you are good to go for the season. We will use leaguesafe.com to hold our money.

We require a starting lineup of 1 team quarterback, two running backs, any combo of three WRs or TEs, and one kicker. No defenses. A person can opt to “run and shoot,” starting only one RB and a combo of 4 WRs and/or TEs (helps with bye weeks). You must draft a starting lineup. After that, you can use your bench as you see fit. We do not draft defenses/special teams.

We allow one IR spot to begin with, and a second one in week 4 when the byes start.

Transactions – Teams must use the automated waiver wire system for add/drops, except on Sunday. Teams can add guys up to 11:55AM only on Sundays without using the waiver system (helps with last minute issues).

Trades – are allowed until week 10, and are subject to Commish approval.

Schedule – Each team plays their divisional opponents twice, and all teams from two of the three other divisions once for a total of 14 games. The four division champs and top four wildcards make the playoffs. Our 26th championship will be decided in week 17. Having a championship in the final week also adds a little more strategy.

We use no overtime during the regular season – a tie is a tie. We have an elaborate one for the playoffs to ensure no ties. There are generally 0-3 ties a year.

Below is our scoring system. Please hit me (or mike) up with any questions you may have. Should you choose to accept, I will get you added right away.

Thanks,
