3 down running backs (1 Viewer)

Islanders rule

Footballguy
Most drafts I have seen had the same five (5) running backs taken 1-5 in various order. They were as follows:

Peterson

Foster

Charles

Johnson

Rice

Who are the next 10 rb's who will get the majority (3 down backs) of carries for their teams:

I'm guessing:

6. Gore

7. S. Jackson

8. Hillis

9. Forte

10 Turner

11 Mendenhall

12 Mc Coy

13 Jones Drew

14 Mc Fadden

15 F. Jones

If the above 6-15 rb's stay healthy, Do you see any other RB's getting more touches than any of them?

LeGarrett Blount ?

Your thoughts?

Turner has never been active in the passing game.

Mendenhall really hasn't either but I think he can jump into the 40 reception range.

Some other potential three down guys:

Unless and until Delone Carter shows something Addai seems like the only legitimate option in Indy.

Beanie Wells looks like the only guy in Arizona.

Marshawn Lynch can catch but I think Forsett will cap his ceiling at 35-40 receptions.

I don't trust Jonathan Stewart's durability and I think DeAngelo could end up being a three down guy.

Tim Hightgower is Shanny's guy until he dies or Shanny finds someone better.

If Blount keeps showing off his hands like he did in preseason (he said he worked on it hard in the off season) then I'd add him to your list.

I don't see Greene or Benson being majority passing down players because their teams have better options.
It sounds like the intent of the OP is identifying which RBs will get the most touches:
who will get the majority (3 down backs) of carries for their teams...Do you see any other RB's getting more touches than any of them?
Whether or not Greene or Benson are in on the majority of passing downs, they're still probably projected to be up there in total touches. I might add Ahmad Bradshaw? But OP already picked out most of the top 15 or so, so we're talking about the next tier down here anyway.

pass protection is more important - Blount's is horrible . . .
Yeah, you're right. But OC Olson said just 3 days ago that Blount's pass protection has improved (along with his pass catching). Even though Graham was named the starting 3rd down back I can't see Blount staying off the field for long if he keeps improving.

Benson is 4th over the last 2 years in touches/game. He'll finish ahead of the majority of those on the list even if he doesn't play most of the 3rd downs.
Yeah I guess you're right. Although I don't anticipate as many sustained drives from Cinci as in years past.

Benson probably but I am not sold on Greene. I think LT and McKnight will take away enough snaps to keep Greene's touches down.

Thanks for all the insight guys.

It appears that there are 3 of the initial I listed that are not 3 down backs.

Charles

Forte

Turner

There are 5 additional guys that could be 3rd down back much of the time.

Addai

Blount

Benson

Hightower

Wells

Does this mean that 17 of the 32 teams in the NFL will have one RB with the vast majority of the teams carries? (not considering injuries of course)

My top five workhorses in no particular are:

Peterson

Gore

S. Jackson

Hillis

C. Johnson

Your 5 ?
