Round 1
1. Miami - Jake Long - OT - The team cant win if they cant score. Give Ronnie Brown some holes to run thru protect your QB, give your WR time to get into their routes....drafting a franchise OT can help your team in so many ways.
2. St. Louis - Ryan Clady OT - After what happened last year to that team its quite clear to me that they need help along that offensive line. He can learn from the best and wil step right into his shoes so that St Louis can have another franchise player at LT for 10 more years.
3. Atlanta - Chris Long, DE - I understand that they have Abraham and Jamal Anderson. I just think that Chris Long is the safest pick in this draft and would give the team a face of their franchise. This young man is so well spoken and prepared for the NFL. There is always a surprise and this is it. BPA
4. Oakland - Darren McFadden RB - They have a pretty decent line to run behind and McFadden fills a need. Watching Fargas work last year makes you wonder what a guy with talent could do.
5. Kansas City - Vernon Gholsten DE - I think if the draft were to unfold like this the Chiefs would look to trade down. If not, I think they would be happy to get a premier talent in Vernon Gholston. Allen (if he is still there), Hali, and Gholston would make for a dangerous pass rush coming after the quarterback. If they do decide to trade Allen - they have someone ready to fill his shoes as the primary pass rusher. I think that Gholston fits better in a 3-4 and if KC moves Allen something might be in the works.
6. New York Jets - Mike Jenkins CB - Revis is a stud and putting Jenkins opposite him along with Justin Miller will give the Jets one heck of a group of Corners. Jenkins is the best pure corner in this draft.
7. New England (from San Francisco) - Leodis McKelvin CB - Patriots biggest need is Corner and McKelvin is a good one. I thought about LB as well but I think the Pats will look to LB in the rounds that follow.
8. Baltimore - Matt Ryan QB - With the McNair retirement that pretty much locks this one up. Kyle Boller will never be the answer and Troy Smith isnt starter material. Ryan gives the fans hope from Day one.
9. Cincinnati - Glenn Dorsey, DT - Wow Cincinatti gets their pick of DTs. Dorsey has so much ability that he is the type of guy who can singlehandedly turn a defenses fortunes. A huge gift for Cinci they fill their biggest need with the best player. Dorsey and Peko and some more help later in the draft are going to finally bring the D to a level that will make the great offense effective. Imagine that offense if the defense could have got some stops on 3rd and short.
10. New Orleans - DRC CB - Easy pick for the Saints.
11. Buffalo Sedrick Ellis DT - Buffalo never expected Ellis to be here. The Dline didnt get much pressure on the QB and Aaron Schobel couldnt be happier to see Sedrick Ellis and Marcus Stroud added to the roster. A Rotation of these 2 beasts and John McCargo will make the Buffalo front 4 one of the most feared in the league. Dont forget abotu Posluszny and Kawika Mitchell. Buffalo D is back on the Map.
12. Denver - Keith Rivers LB - With DJAX to Denver and Robertson possibly still an option the Broncos can go ahead and take Keith Rivers Who is the best defensive player available at this point. With a Defense that bad and a player as good as Rivers available, Denver will find a way to make it work with Rivers and DJ Williams.
13. Carolina - Brandon Albert OL - Carolina decides to get some blocking up front to give Deangelo Williams the best chance to succeed. Albert is a huge pull at this point for Carolina - now they can get back to pounding the ball and controlling the clock.
14. Chicago - Devin Thomas WR - Chicago needs a WR with some skills. Hester is not the answer - in fact I dont think he is a WR at all. What good is a LT if your WRs cant get any space to catch the ball.
15. Detroit - Derrick Harvey DE - The Lions offense is pretty good as it is. Running back is VERY deep this year. Harvey has been linked to Detroit and I dont think its a smoke screen.
16. Arizona - Antoine Cason CB - The overhaul of the Cards Secondary continues with the local kid. Moving Rolle to S to team with Adrian Wilson is very exciting if your a Cards fan but ONLY if they can replace Rolle with something decent. Rodrick Hood and Antoine Cason on the Corners has Arizona ready to make a push to the Playoffs. It was just a year ago that Cason was the premier CB talent.
17. Minnesota - Phillip Merling - DE - Its unfortunate what has happened to Udeze but clearly it creates a major hole for the Vikings defense. Merling is an upgrade anyhow which will make it easier to swallow. I love his size.
18. Houston - Jeff Otah OT - Texans Signed Chris Brown and have Ahman Green returning. OT is a major need for the team and Otah was not expectected to be available. He has all the skills that you look for out of a Franchise LT. Willams, Okoye, and now Otah - Houston believes on building in the trenches.
19. Philadelphia - Deshawn Jackson WR - Instant offense. McNabb finally gets a weapon to throw to - even though he is a little guy he can help out a few different ways as he will also be able to help the team on Special Teams. Jackson and Westbrook combining with Mcnabb would make this Eagles offense much more explosive.
20. Tampa Bay - Chris Williams OT - with both Deshawn Jackson and Devin Thomas gone, Tampa looks to another major need and tries to finally land that franchise LT. I think Tampa strikes Gold here by getting Big Chris Williams. .
21. Washington - Limas Sweed WR - Washington needs Wr help in a big way. They have had midgets for too long at the position and in order for Jason Campbell to take the next step he needs a weapon outside of Santana Moss - who would be more effective with someone opposite him. Limas Sweed could very easily be the first WR off the board or he could be the 3rd. Getting a legitimate #1 WR helps Portis, Campbell, and Moss.
22. Dallas (from Cleveland) - Aqib Talib CB - Jerry Jones just loves guys with Character issues. Talib has the talent to go even higher in this draft but with the failed drug tests he is expected to slip. I still see Dallas as wanting to get PacMan Jones but there is no way that they would put all their eggs in Pacmans Basket. They will work Pacman back into the groove after missing a season. If they both workout well, Dallas has become a legit superbowl contender.
23. Pittsburgh - Johathan Stewart - RB - Pittsburgh would love it if they had a young Jerome Bettis back there behind that line. Teaming Stewart with Fast Willie Parker would be a wonderful Tandem. Parker could get back to breaking off big plays for TDs while Bettis - or I mean Stewart wears down the defensive line and linebackers. I think that Stewart is the best RB in this class.
24. Tennessee James Hardy WR - Tennessee needs a WR and really wanted Limas Sweed to drop to them. They might try to move up with Tampa Bay but predicting trades makes this 2 times as hard. Truth be told with Vince Youngs lack of Accuracy Hardy is probably the better fit for Tennessee. Hardy is a great athlete - maybe the best all around athelete at the WR position in the draft this season. I think that makes for a nice fit when Vince gets out of the pocket or one of this throws isnt so accurate.
25. Seattle - Rashard Mendenhall RB - An All around back who will be able to step right into the featured back and franchise player role that SA will be leaving behind.
26. Jacksonville - Callis Campbell DE - The Jags main need is a DE who can rush the passer. If this based off last year - his sopf year - then Campbell would be a top 10 pick. Looks every bit the part of a raw Reggie White.
27. San Diego - Dan Conner LB - Dan Conner is always around the ball and makes in my opinion a great prospect at MLB or OLB. Thats the perfect situation for a Charger defense that really needs to let Merriman loose to make plays in the backfield. The Chargers dont need much but will also look at Kenny Phillips and Reggie Smith here. I feel that with the Hart extension and the fact that they traded up to get Weddle last year and its the same Front office that made those decisions - they consider themselves pretty good still at S.
28. Dallas - Felix Jones, RB - this is about the drafts worst kept secret. JJ loves him and he should be available.
29. San Francisco - Kentwaan Balmer DT - Justin Smith is being asked to do this all alone right now. The Nose tackles on SF are weak at best. Balmer is a nice fit in my opinion for the 3-4 allignment and adding Smith and Balmer along that front with Sopoaga makes for a nice improvement over last year. If Balmer makes it past SD, then he is the perfect pick.
30. Green Bay - Kenny Phillips - S - Green Bay still has a need at Safety even with Atari Bigbys good season from out of nowhere. I think that the master plan in GB is for Rouse to take over SS and to draft Kenny Phillips to play FS. Even without the need, Ted Thompson will take the best player available at this time and in this draft I think it is Kenny Phillips. Reggie Smith would also be a consideration. Al Harris was a stud all year long until Plax gave him the most probelms ever. Why are fans in GB writing him off after 1 bad game?
31. New York Giants - Reggie Smith - S - Giants dont have alot of needs but a guy like Smith who can play multiple positions back there and can light guys up is always a need.
