$300,000,000 Doesn't Buy What It Used To (1 Viewer)

7-13 after 20 games has the Loveable Losers a whopping 1 game better than the 2 worst teams in baseball, KC and Washington.

Money well spent.

They are still a fundemental disaster. Situational hitting is non-existant, there are baserunning blunders abound and Sweet Lou has already blown his stack.

Z is more worried about his contract than pitching, Rich Hill is human, Prior and Wood are probably done for the year, Wade Miller still sucks and its just a matter of time before Jason Marquis remembers that he's Jason Marquis.

:bs:

Have fun looking up at the Pirates and Brewers in the Central all year. Those 2 teams combined are spending about $10,000,000 more than the Cubs to feild competitive teams

Wow, the Cubs and a $300,000,000 payroll? That is a story.
What did they spend on FA contracts this off season?
Last time I checked that was spread out of the course of 8 years, no?Question for you: Who has a higher payroll this year? Cubs or Sox?
It's not all spread out over 8 years, only Soriano's portion is. Most of it is spread out over about 4 years. And regardless, they had to invest that money to field this team, this year. You don't say that you spent $40,000 on a car when you'll be paying for it for the next 3 years?Oh, and the White Sox have the higher payroll. How does that make you feel?

Weren't you once a Cubs fan? It's bad enough being a bandwagon fan but being a ##### to your former team's fans seems like a dbag move.

Just trying to show others the light, my brother.
I hear the Mets are good this year. Maybe you can root for them and hate the Braves or something.
Because the White Sox were real good in January of 2000. :own3d:
:wall: Way to make up a date right before they won the Division. Don't worry, I beleive you!!

It was the day my son was born. Not something I need to make upHTH

Serious question-If the Cubs sweep the Sox this weekend and they finish the year with a better record, would you switch back to being a Cubs fan? If not, what would it take? Consecutive years of having a better record than the Sox?

Not a chance in hell. Look, I would hope that you aren't still hung up on the same girl that broke your heart in the 8th grade. Being a fan of a sports team is the same thing IMO. The Cubs broke my heart enough times in 30 years of being a fan that I'm just not dumb enough to go back for more. You know what I felt in 2003 when Bartman happened? I said to myslef "here it goes" and watched with a smile on my face. There were no tears, there was no remorse. There was a sense of right, a sense of doing what was best for me. You know what happened when I found out the girl that broke my heart in the 8th grade ended up 17 and knocked up by a soon to me MIA "boyfirend"?Same thing.Let them both go #### someone else.

I don't see what's weird about it, I drink plenty of beer and I'm quite relaxed.I was a Cubs fan because my dad made me a Cubs fan. I grew up and learned to think for myself. I'd like to think most of us do that.
