Started yesterday with 30 Days of Night. I don't have a lot of Horror in my collection except for zombie films.Going to watch Audition tonight based on the recommendations from here.

I might do the same tonight if I don't get my crap in the mail today. The only horror I have at home is Audition and Shaun of the Dead.

Done with Event Horizon... It was okay.

Event Horizon' had a lot of promise(with me being a fan of Dead Space), and is entertaining enough to watch, but it's extremely unsatisfying and you'll end up wondering why the film-makers didn't spend more time working out a decent screenplay. It kinda of reminds me of 'Lost in Space ' or - it's a technical showcase, with absolutely no film beneath it.2.5/5

Splinter (2008)

It's a small scale version of The Thing in a rural gas station instead of Antarctica. Very well directed with a claustrophobic style, doesn't rely on cgi which is another big plus in my book. Lacking in the plot and acting department but goes by fast enough to be able to enjoy the ride. More tension than gore but the characters are still pretty stupid for the most part.

Re-watched the Zombie remake of Halloween 2... and I've changed my opinion of it. This was a pretty creative take on the story by Zombie. I don't think i gave it the credit it deserved the first time i watched it because it felt dirty watching someone change so many elements of the story.

Dont get me wrong I still think he could have toned down the use of Sheri Moon more than a little. But it had a lot of new genuinely creepy moments of realism that I overlooked the first time around.

Definitely worth seeing if you can keep an open mind about someone seriously tinkering with the Myers family.

Didn't get a movie in the mail yesterday, so went to the library today. They were pretty picked over so I ended up with the only horror movie I saw on the shelves: Mirrors

I think I read it's another asian horror remake, but never heard of the original. Started off OK. Was actually kinda creepy when it was just Mr. Sutherland and the old building he was watching. Then for the last 30 mins or so they decided to focus on his wife/kids and throw in a dumb ending. Felt like 2 different movies and the tension that was built up in the beginning was lost by the end of the movie as it deteriorated (sp?) into a cheesy monster movie. Maybe worth a watch if it's on cable or something, but I wouldn't go out of your way to watch this one.

The Descent(US version,not UK ending) is a very entertaining horror movie which keeps you wondering when are the beasts going to attack.I watched this on fear net and the acting is very superb and Neil Marshall directed it so well. The story is really good and a lot more sensible and lifelike, unlike "The Cave. "Overall, this film was brilliant but I only gave it 4 stars because it was a bit slow in the beginning.

Huh. I am the opposite and think that Event Horizon >>> The Descent. Wasn't a fan of the Descent for whatever reason.

Watched The Thing last night for the first time in about 10 years or so, as long as everyone else was watching it. Literally as close to perfect as a film like this is going to get. Realistic setting, characters whose actions follow logic, and a creepy monster(s).

Noticed I imdb they are making a prequel about the Norwegian team to be released next year. Won't have high expectations for that.

Realized today that I had a Craven triple feature on dvd I hadn't watched before.

People Under the Stairs

It's basically ghetto Goonies with a killer rottweiler, a pack of cannibals, and a shotgun wielding sado-masochist in a full bondage suit. Pretty creepy, but really all camp. Might be pretty fun to rewatch. Loved the ending.

That's a pretty liberal rating for this movie. I saw it in the theater in HS. Caught it on TV a few years ago and couldn't believe how cheesy bad it was.

I think it works better when viewed as a pure comedy.

The first movie was the 2008 Swedish adaptation Let The Right One InLet Me In is the 2010 American adaptation.

Agree 100% - great idea, but the movie itself is fairly cheesy. I would say that it's still worth a watch, but not really a 'horror' movie, and there are quite a few other asian horror movies I'd recommend over it.

I am not sure it was supposed to be creepy. While watching it never really crossed my mind that it was a horror movie. Seems more like a drama that happens to have a vampire in it.

Bear in mind that I am a huge Saw fan.The sequels get progressively more gore-obessed. The first one is great with the suspense. The sequels just go for as gory as possible, where the person in the trap rarely has a chance to escape. Without giving any spoilers, that might be as far as I can go. Just don't expect the plot and suspense from the first one to carry over, especially as the story gets more and more muddied. But if you enjoy the traps and the blood...by all means, they are worth it.

Second one resembles the plot of Manhunt for Xbox.I hate gory torturecore horror films, but I can't stop watching the Saw franchise. And I am spend just as much time intrigued as completely disgusted.
