Makerbot has been making nice cheap machines for a few years now. It used to require a lot of tinkering and assembly, more of a DIY machine, but now they have gone full blown pre-assembled.The build envelope is too small, but it prints out comparable parts to our much, much more expensive Dimension printer.
nice, I also wanted to 3-d print my ####
How much does the material cost for one of these?'the moops said:Makerbot has been making nice cheap machines for a few years now. That's awesome.Thought this was awesome, used regular printer paper:

the future:Robots can use this technology to mass produce themselves and take over the world!
Paper is a huge breakthrough for consumer applications. Cost of the materials was a big negative (~$1.6/cu. in.) but if this is 1/10 the price you can make decent sized models (say 5 cu. in.) for about $4. That price would make it viable for use as an educational tool in schools and they could probably get the paper donated for free. That's awesome.Thought this was awesome, used regular printer paper:

We use a 3D printer at work for prototypes and it has saved us tons of money. Ours is the traditional plastic printer. That paper one is very cool.
