49ers LB B. Moore To Return To Reserve Role? (1 Viewer)

Here's what Nolan had to say on the subject just after the draft.

RE: So will Brandon (Moore) go to the other side where Andre (Carter) used to be?

“Brandon can do two things and that’s the great thing. Brandon’s versatility helps him a lot because he can play outside and inside. Where he played his best ball for us last year was on the inside. With (Jeff) Ulbrich back there it’s little bit of a stack at the one position with him and we have to decide whether we want him to compete with Jeff at that role where he’s his best. Jeff is also good there. Or put him outside where he is not at his best and then compete with a rookie. So we have a little bit of a dilemma there but we are going to get to you. We are going to discuss it tomorrow morning but it’s a good one to have.”

49ers | B. Moore leading at starting outside linebacker

Kevin Lynch, of the San Francisco Chronicle, reports San Francisco 49ers LB Brandon Moore has overtaken LB Corey Smith as the team's starting left outside linebacker.

Seems like 3-4 teams often have a Moore on thier squad who can literally play in any of the four spots even though there is a spot the player is best suited. Vrabel with Pats, Wong with the texans, Thompson with the Browns come to mind. He is valuable to the team, but causes the nightmares (especially in the off and pre season) for fantasy owners who have no idea who to really value the player.

A little off topic, but doesn't it seem that there are ton of teams this year with at least 3 or 4 IDP position totally up in the air.

parys haralson could be in the picture opposite lawson before long, too (maybe not this season)... he is #3 in TEN history in TFL (reggie white & leonard little #1 & #2)...

Yep, I gotta admit that it is a very confusing time of year in trying to figure out team depth charts. As a follow-up to Bob's comments though, Parys Haralson is actually listed as the starting LOLB at ourlads (http://www.ourlads.com/secure/depthchart.cfm?index1=sf), with Ulbrich at starting LILB, Derek Smith starting at RILB, and Manny Lawson starting at ROLB. They have Moore as Ulrich's back-up at this point, with Smith backing up Haralson....so who the heck knows! Makes all these dynasty rookie drafts a lot of fun AND stressful right now though......for sure!
