4th Round RBs (1 Viewer)

If value presents itself at RB in the early rounds of my draft, I will be happy taking 3 RBs in my first 4 picks. If I already have two solid backs in rounds 1 and 2, and go QB or WR in round 3, then if I'm thinking RB in round 4, I want a high upside RB. Please rank the guys that you'd be most willing to take a chance on for a huge season (I'm not talking 2000 and 15, which I think only McFadden could reach, but a solid top 10ish performance):

Maroney

Bush

Graham

Thomas Jones

Turner

McFadden

Edge

Jon Stewart

(As of now, I think I'd go with Jones, Graham, McFadden, Bush, Maroney, Turner, Stewart, Edge)

McFadden

Jones

Stewart

Turner

Your question was who has the most upside, there is your answer. Graham is what he is. I don't see much upside in him.

Depending on scoring ( ie. PPR ) I'd put Bush in this mix, also... of course I'd be shocked to see Bush fall to the 4th in a PPR league.

no PPR, standard 12 teamer, and I haven't seen Jacobs make it to many 4th rounds, so let's assume he's gone (but otherwise I could see his upside being top 5)

based purely on upside, i'd put mcfadden and then maroney at the top of that group. the only reason those 2 will last as long as they will is an assumed lack of opportunity. if either of those guys were to get close to 300 carries, they'd provide top 10 value.

to take a team to a fantasy championship, mcfadden and maroney need the carries. (which both could get)

the others on the list either need to become more talented, become younger or be in a better situation. (which can't happen)

i like stewart's upside too, but i like maroney and mcfadden's better.

I don't think Jones has as much upside compared to guys like Graham, Maroney, and McFadden. He's never been a great GL runner and won't catch many passes. He's also getting up there in age and has had 3 straight years of big workloads. The team around him is better, but he's never rushed for double digit TDs so it's hard to expect a career year from him at this point in his career.

If you believe your own words then I might recommend drafting Randy Moss in the 1st round and RBs in the next 3 rounds, including Maroney in the 4th. Either Moss will be a beast again or he won't because the Pats run more, in which case Maroney will be a beast.

1. McFadden

2. Turner

3. T Jones

---------

4. L Maroney

5. J. Stewart

---------

6. Graham, Bush & Edge :goodposting:

Really surprised more people don't have Turner near the top of this list.

The same guy that implies that Turner needs to be in a better situation, has McFadden at the very top of his list  Is the Oakland offense really supposed to be that much better than Atlanta's this year??

I don't know, but the running game is. Raider ran well on everyone last year, if DMC gets a lot of work, he might be in line for big things.I think I'd have Maroney second, if not first. Starting RB for the offense that scored more than anyone, ever? Seems like there might be some upside there.

I am a little confused about the lack of love for Thomas Jones' upside this year. Ok, he's never been a double digit TD guy in his career, but when he was racking up the yards in Chicago he played alongside Benson who was a better goal line guy, and the Bears were never a prolific offense anyway.

The only competition that Jones has is Leon Washington, and he isnt taking any goalline carries away from Jones. The OLine is very good, Favre is very good, Coles and Cotchery are roughly as threatening as Driver and Jennings, how can people not say that Jones' upside is about what Grant did over the course of a 16 game season (note, not talking actual projections, just upside potential)???

FWP is missing from this discussion - and for right now, I really think I will be targeting him at his current mid-4th ADP. The guy didn't get goal line carries last year - this year he is supposed to get his share. I am not convinced that Mendenhall is really going to take away as many carries and vultures as many TDs as people are thinking.

the guy puts up 1,200 yds last year but only 2 TDs - I really like the over at 7 TDs this year (really expect 10-11).

Is FWP dropping to the 4th? seems way low to me

Based purely on upside:

1.Maroney

2.Turner

3.McFadden

4.Stewart

5.Bush

6.Jones

7.Graham

8.Edge

It becomes a slightly different story when you figure how likely each player is to reach that upside.
