"Don't grumble, give a whistle!"
...without blowing that #### up!!?? :o :bag: :censored: :moneybag:

2000 Isuzu Trooper with 180K miles on it. Rebuilt the tranny a year ago because we needed the wheels and intended to unload it after I found a replacement. Picked up a Jeep Liberty and then held onto the Trooper through the "Winter that Was" for my wife who drives a skateboard Scion xb. The Trooper will still go through or over anything.

I have been starting it regularly and running through the gears to keep the drive solenoids from freezing up. Did so Tuesday evening and parked in a hurry to get into the house for the dinner time.

Last night the wife drove the Trooper to escort me to the shop where I was doing a night drop of my Jeep for servicing. When we got there the Mrs glock got out of the Trooper and remarked, "Man, the Trooper is running like crap!" Knowing that I had just driven it and it was alright, I hopped in to check it out.

Putting it into gear I immediately realized that I had left the truck in 4 wheel low! We had covered some 4 miles where she probably hit 30-40mph... :wall:

After disengaging from 4WDL, it drove fine in 2WD.

4WGuys- think it survived? :scared:

If it runs now, it should be fine...Might be worth a precautionary oil change/transfer case oil change. The biggest risk I see is the transfer case overheating and causing the oil to break down.

It's more a function of the RPM of the engine with most modern 4WD systems. You're increasing torque to the driveline but it should be able to handle it.

Short of low fluid levels in Tcase or axle allowing key driveline parts to overheat, you should be fine as long as you weren't rolling along with RPM needle buried.

It's a closed system. Can't even check the tranny fluid. :(

You sure this is the correct forum for ya, gb?
I often visit a 4x4 bored for input, but this place is far more entertaining.

And there really is no way to check the tranny fluid in this ride.
