5x5 Auction keeper question (1 Viewer)

Which player is more attractive for 2008:

Huston Street $20

Joe Borowski $5

12 team mixed 5x5.

Lot to weigh here:

First this is year 3 and keepers are somewhat scarce and definitely inflated during the auction. You have Street on a god awful team but solidly in the role, and then the opposite being Borowski on a decent team with very shaky status.

my take....I don't like paying high dollar on closers in 5x5 mixed leagues.

Also, I haven't really done much research here, but I'm not that high on Street. Didn't the A's just trade for another potential closer, younger and cheaper, maybe looking to ship Street?

Anyway, I'll vote Borowski or neither.

JoeBlow is the way to go. Street will not be getting a lot of save chances so $20 is a lot to spend. Borowski may not even finish the season as a closer (get Betancourt as a backup) but for $5, who cares.

Borowski will have awful ERA and WHIP, but will get you a ton of saves

whereas Street will have good ERA and WHIP, but not as many saves

Make up your % cats elsewhere and go with the 30+ saves

Thanks for the responses. I'm in agreement so far. Now...

What about throwing in a $13 Trevor Hoffman to the equation? I'm considering dealing Borowski and another piece to get Hoffman and not exercise his 2009 option.
