Was cruising at 5-0 based primarily on QB/RB strength, but times change... no PPR, 2RB/2WR/1 Flex, 10 team league with 4 making playoffs weeks 15/16
QB: Smith, Rodgers, Luck
RB: Hunt, Zeke, Ajayi, Powell, D Lewis
WR: Hogan, D Thomas, R Matthews, Parker
TE: Walker
Was fortunately able to dump a bunch of free agent budget to grab Smith to plug the gap, but with the worse prognosis for Luck and Rodgers going to be out until at least the fantasy playoffs I'm going to be using a lot of bench space on players that I can't use. Thinking just dump Luck, try to ride Smith until the edge of the season (McCown's on waivers?) and hope Rodgers returns for the playoffs, maybe try to trade Ajayi + WR for a receiver upgrade? Thoughts?
You didn't mention is this was any keeper type league, but if not, time to trim the fat.
Cut Rodgers and Luck, they are doing essentially nothing but taking up RB lotto ticket space.
Hunt is a monster, and even if he goes down, Charcandrick West has proven to be a capable fill-in, and there in KC he will still get a decent amount of work. Protect yourself from disaster, and get West immediately. (I can see holding Rodgers, but I have no issue if you drop him too, in fact I prefer that) This is an absolute handcuff scenario.
It might also be a good time to get Alfred Morris seeing as we should get some news on EZE this coming week. Most leagues he has been dumped back to the free agents.
You
DO NEED to watch the Delanie Walker situation. It came out it was "only" a bone bruise, and they do have the bye, so hopefully he can heal up. But I would be watching that closely.
You might try snagging a Josh Doctson type too, for your end of bench WR stash. While you aren't desperate at WR, picking up something that may develop into a strong WR play late season might help. Demaryius Thomas is now on a team that (at least recently) looks like they can't pass well. I have him in one PPR league, and I am not happy with the way this is unfolding..... and I don't think you want to be depending on Rishard Matthews when the money is on the line in the playoffs. Decker is getting healthy, and Corey Davis might be the play there, before its all said and done.
Remember - you are in a 10 man league. There is always talent on the wire at QB. You can stream decent production if you have to. Try looking on the wire and try to find solid RB production though, once it gets late season and in the playoffs. It just doesn't exist.
I'm big on protecting yourself for a playoff run. In our leagues, the RB's get stocked up on, and once weeks 12-14 roll around, trying to find any production on our wires is brutal. Don't be
THAT GUY that has a great season, has a strong run to get to the playoffs, then an injury or two robs you of any RB firepower right at the end.
