Custody Battle at root

PENNSBURG, Pa. (WPVI) --
Authorities have identified the man sought in a Montgomery County killing spree that left six people dead and one person wounded.

Bradley William Stone, 35, of Pennsburg, Pa., remains at large.

All of the victims had a 'familial' relationship with Stone, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office said.

The Montgomery County DA says Stone is described as 5'10" tall and weighs 195 pounds. He has a red or auburn beard and mustache with closely cropped hair.

Stone is known to use a cane or walker to assist him, the DA said, and he may be wearing military fatigues, in either sand or green color.

The DA says: "Stone should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about Stone's whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately. Do not approach him."

"Police are conducting an extensive search in and around Pennsburg, at both known and outdoor locations where Stone may be located."

I was shocked it took this long to get a thread on this. I didn't want to be a posty, but I'm glad there is one. This is only about an hour from home for me. Where did you read that it was custody related? I saw something about him taking kids, but nothing re. why.

From teh first link there was this

Neighbors say there has been an ongoing custody dispute between the mother and father.
And the first person he shoots is the ex-, then whisks the kids away.

Will the police be able to catch him when he races away with his walker?

Or will this be another protracted manhunt...

I just hope his intentions are to keep the kids safe and not harm them at this point. Seems like he's killed everyone else...

This may be racist but when white guys kill they tend overdo it a bit....At least the black folk tend to keep it down to one at a time..

seems like he wanted all the ex's family gone so kids wouldn't go to them after the dust settles?

Yeah I work not too far from this area. Scary stuff. Hope they get this guy.

oof, that's cold.
It does seem that way, and I agree...that's pretty cold. Kill your ex and then all of her family just so the kids can't be raised by anyone on her side, knowingly sacrificing your chance too. Poor kids.
is that really what he could be thinking? that is the most backward way of thinking of what will occur with your kids (and i know, this dude probably is not the guy you go to for advice on anything). But i wonder how he will feel when his kids go into foster care and are under care of the state? maybe he hopes the kids will be raised by some kin of his, and it will be interesting to see how the courts will deal with that

My buddy lives out there and all the schools are closed and he is staying home with them. Said that there was SWAT, helicopters and the schools on lock down yesterday. That had to be a fantastic conversation to have with little kids.

Is it confirmed that the kids are safe?

There was a similar murder in my old hometown where the guy killed his ex's parents, shot the ex (who managed to survive), and ran off with the kids. The police found the car a few hours later. The guy had killed the kids by slitting their throats and had them in the back seat. He was sitting in the front seat too chicken to even kill himself.

I can't even imagine how much the mom probably wishes she had just died as well.

Just so unbelievably selfish and monstrous.

Stone had a "familial relationship" to all the victims, Ferman said. The two children Stone took from his ex-wife's house were safe, Ferman said.

Guys in Doylestown now according to reports.
Not OK...That's now 23 miles from where I live, and headed in that direction. Apparently one of the scenes last night was 1.5 blocks from one of my buddy's parent's house. He said they weren't allowed home until like 10:00 last night, and cops escorted them home and back out again this AM.

Good. I mean, those kids are facing a rough future, but at least they have one.

OK. Fair editorial correction. I'll fix the original post...but back to the overall point...Do you think the suspected carjacker was somehow less surprised his targeted victim was packing if it wasn't Bradley Stone?

My bad I thought the article was unrelated or at least confirmed it wasn't stone.

Either way I'm sure this guy was surprised.

Yes. Apparently, he dropped them off with one of his neighbors after killing the ex.

Those two, and the young man who had the rest of his immediate family killed, have no reason to suffer like this.

Such a tragedy.

I have a hard time rationalizing that amount of hate for anyone. I have several people in my past that I REALLY hate. I can't imagine hating anyone so much as to justify killing their entire family.

This is really creepy. My GF was a little freaked out last night that he was on the loose still and I told her not to worry because we'd be fine. But I made sure I double checked all of the locks last night before I turned in. Hopefully they catch this guy soon.

And unlike Frein, this dude has no intention staying where he is. He's on the run.

Agree. I told my wife about this last night and she dismissed it. I told her that he may be in Doylestown, and she started to get nervous. His general path would put him in Flemington soon.

I guess my saving hope is that he'll have to cross the Delaware (...like George Washington) and hopefully the cops are smart enough to monitor the bridge crossings because there aren't that many. Not that bridges are the only way across, but it's probably a decent utilization of resources.
