6 point passing TD leagues (1 Viewer)

With the large disparity in fantasy points between Manning, Brees, (and Rodgers this year) is it crazy not to take one of these three if they are available in the 1st? Or do you still prefer a RB, Calvin, or Graham in the first?

I think it makes sense to draft them very early. Lets say the difference is 10 TDs. You have to make up for it with 10 TDs somewhere else, (5 in 3 point QB tds.) The difference in who you draft in the first at WR or RB might be 3-5 TDs that you have to make up but other stats probably raise the bar some here more than with QBs like yards and receptions so lets say its 6-7 Tds of value. Its still less than your probable point drop off in QBs. Plus top tier QBs tend to be top tier every year so the margin of error is minimal. The whole reason for the 3 or 4 point passing TD is to bring the value closer to the difference between other position top tiers. Now if you can predict who is going to get 38+ passing TDs that isnt one of these established studs, and can get him later, then thats probably the best, but can you predict that?

There are some more in depth threads already on this topic.

I am drafting for my friend in a 2QB league where all TDs are worth 6. I would imagine all three gone by the first 7 picks.

Ive always been a RB early guy, but I just looked at my leagues numbers from last year.

Brees had 100 more points than the next best QB.

No other player has that kind of drop off other than J. Charles, and J. Graham.

This really makes me consider taking one of the top 3 QBs.

VBD is all about catching that drop off...so why wouldnt people want to take advantage of that? What am I missing.

Graham is a undisputed first rounder...yet a QB that can give you a 100pt advantage isnt?

Glad I didnt do anything foolish for my draft.

I don't think there is anything wrong with getting Brees or Manning after the top 5 RBs and Graham are off the board. It's not the route, I choose to go, but it can definitely work.
