600 bucks for ac motor change? (1 Viewer)

Upstairs not cooling down so I had an AC guy come out and check out the ac units.   Downstairs ac checks out ok...Great!   Upstairs ac needs new fan motor...FML!    I am think max 200 bucks.   Guy comes back and says it will 600 bucks for a generic ac fan motor.     WTF!?!?   Do people actually pay these prices?      Drove down to local appliance store picked up new motor and capacitor for 149 bucks and out the door.  Took about 30 minutes to change out old and replace with new lifetime warrantied motor.  HERCULES!   Told wife she owes me 450 dollars worth of secks!       

seriously people watch a youtube video and save some money.

$450 is pocket change for most of us at FBG.  Its more convenient just to pay someone.

Yeah most times.   Always a good idea to replace them with a new motor.    

Protip always have a backup for when they go bad.   Amazon sells them for around 15 bucks.
