70's logo/cartoon mascot help (1 Viewer)

Sludge

Footballguy
I added a pic to Facebook for "Throwback Thursday" back around Christmas time of my brother and me visiting Santa. After I loaded the pic people wanted to know what the logo on my brother's jacket was, but nobody knew.

I figured somebody here might know so here it goes:

The Wawa gift card was a reward for the person with the correct answer, but it went unclaimed. If somebody figures it out and lives in an area with a Wawa I will send it to them.

You're both wearing the same jacket? His his has the logo, yours doesn't?

To be honest, I even tell what the patch is. The pic is blurry and my eyes are old

A skinny old guy wearing a cowboy hat and a bandanna around his neck. He could possibly be a "spooky" cowboy. He has a large protruding nose and chin.

A lot of people thought it was the "Hunka cheese" guy from the 70's:

Its not him though.

Not until we get an explanation of this:

:o Didn't know you could see that. That was taken by my daughter at a mall and she sent it to me.He was 5 at the time and wasn't on any team. He doesn't know what it is and neither does our mom.

I'm sorry about the quality of the pic. Its much larger on my hard drive.
That guy is way older than five, you sicko, and I'm pretty sure he's on some team. Also very reassuring that you have a "larger version" of that pic on your hard drive.

Hey that's my brother you're talking about. We took baths together all of the time.

You are right though, he was 2 months shy of turning 6.

Still think it's odd that you are both wearing the same jacket, yet his has the logo. Either you ripped yours off, or it was school jacket or some youth sports league. You just hadn't earned your patch yet.

Usually pretty good at this sort of thing, but Imageshack quit working at my office today.

Any chance you could put the pic on Flickr ... or maybe embed it into a thread on another message board (temporarily, you could take it down later)?

We went through all of the old Philadelphia teams - Pro and semi-pro.

We didn't play on any teams until we were at least 8 and the logos in my old neighborhood don't look anything like it. My theory is the logo was added to his so we could tell the difference between the jackets.

I do not have a Flickr account. If I have time I'll try to set one up.

I do not know the answer.

Are you sure about the cowboy hat and bandana or is that just what it looks like to you?

The more I look at it the more I think it might not even be a face/head.

It also looks more like an iron-on than something embroidered.

Source: I'm old too.

Its not an old school logo.

I'm positive that its a guy in a cowboy hat. He is looking to his left.

I'm headed to lunch soon, but if anybody wants me to send them a bigger image then send me a message. The pic is bigger but not that much more quality.

I tried to clean up the logo with photoshop, but there isn't much to work with.

Uploaded to Photobucket
Thanks, KC.

When I look at your blown-up logo at upper right, I can kind of imagine a Wile E Coyote image. But it doesn't hold up when looking at the reverse-brightness image at lower right.

Sludge, are the jackets brown-&-yellow, or black-&-yellow?

Wait. Isn't that the Twinkee guy?
Or this guy?
Mentioned upthread ... not the one.

I can see the cowboy hat in the blown-up images in the logo. And I can see a wolf/dog/rat-looking face under the hat, snout pointing left.

Then there's some kind of white semi-circular thing at the left of the image ... looks like a billowing sail or maybe a cape. Or maybe it's some kind of background piece to the main picture (a stylized setting sun or a full moon?).

I believe that's his lasso.

It's an Ichabod Crane looking guy- pointy nose and chin facing to the right...

Lol, its Facebook all over again. Everybody sees something different.

Its not the Twinkie guy. I think there is a fold in the jacket that obscures part of the hat.

I'll be back in an hour or so.

Only three colleges have a Cowboy nickname. So I don't think it's that. You've ruled out pro or minor league teams. So there's that.

You're both wearing the same jacket, but one has the logo and one doesn't. That could mean that the patch has nothing to do with the jacket.

I'm stumped. I would have to say a local school (which you said it wasn't) or a patch from some product.

Other than that, I got nuttin'.

I tried to clean it up a little more. Upped the contrast. As you said, he is facing towards the right (as you look at the picture) It looks like the lowest part of the logo is the cowboys elbow or maybe part of the bandana? I'm not sure what the thing is at the upper right???

Zooming in much past this point has diminishing returns.

Nice. I'm sitting here staring at it at work from about 2 inches away when I realize there's a picture of two asses bent over right below it.

Weird. The plural isn't filtered?

That was a quick PS of Pouncey's face instead of Jonathan Martin. Different thread.
