40's and 9's

There are a lot of postings for leagues that ask for active owners. It's my opinion that active owners do best when in an active league. This is the reason that I created the League of Savages. The purpose of this league is to compose a group of owners with diverse styles and to keep the whole league involved during the offseason with activities for cash prizes.
Encouraging Diverse Styles
The roster structure and scoring system was set up to allow teams to win in any way they choose. Whether you take RBs and WRs early (you can start 3 of each) or decide to roll with Peyton and Rodgers in a two QB lineup, the balanced scoring system makes sure that you can emphasize roster strength and minimize weaknesses on a week to week basis. A QB with a 300 yard, 2 TD day will get the same points as a RB or WR with a 100 yard, 1 score game. There is a pending vote on the table about whether to remove kickers from the league altogether.
Rosters
30 players starting 1QB, 1RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1Superflex (any), 1Flex(rb,wr,te), 1K (for now!), 1DST
Includes 1 developmental (college) player.
Scoring
Pass TD 3pts
Pass Yard .0333pts (1pt for every 30 yards)
Rush/Rec Yard .1pts
TD Run, Rec, Fum, Ret 6pts
2pt Conv 2pts
Receptions .33pts for RB
.66pts for WR
1pt for TE
5 pts for QB
Tackle 1pt
FG 0 - 49 yards 3 pts
FG 50 59 yards 5 points
FG 60+ yards 10 points
Extra Point .5pts
Year Round League
The League of Savages believe that active owners prefer activities which get you talking to your fellow owners while having a great time. As you can see below, there are plenty of reasons to check in every month!
September-January:
Week 1-13 Regular Season
Week 14 League of Savages quarterfinals seeds 3-6 (top 2 seeds get a bye).
Week 15 League of Savages semifinals (two quarterfinal winners advance).
Week 16 League of Savages Bowl (two semi-final winners).
Week 17 no games.
March honors Teams will vote in league polls on a variety of awards. Winners will be chosen for the predictions contest held in July. Both categories are eligible for cash prizes.
April mock - Top 10 NFL draft mock. The player who most accurately predicts the top 10 draft picks in the NFL draft wins a cash prize.
May owners meetings - Team confirmation, league dues, and rule change proposals. In the event of an orphaned team, a replacement owner will be found. In the event of multiple orphaned teams, all players on both rosters will be included in a pool and an expansion draft will held between the new owners for those players.
June draft - Rookie draft.
July predictions Time to put your money where your mouth is. Predict winners of the NFL Super Bowl, division winners, wild cards, biggest faller, and biggest riser. Predictions are also taken on fantasy football leaders (top QB, RB, etc), winners of the League of Savages league champion and division winners for the upcoming season.
August free agents - Free agent draft (after the 3rd pre-season game).
Fees and Awards
12 teams @ $75 + $6 for mfl = $900 in prize money
League champion - $450
Runner up - $125
Consolation bracket winner - $75
Division winners - $50 each x 3 = $150
League Awards - $40
Preseason predictions - $30
Top 10 NFL draft mock - $30
Leveling the Playing Field
The playoff and standings are based on victory points. You get one point for winning your head to head matchup and one point for finishing in the top half of the league in weekly scoring (which accounts for the luck factor in weekly match ups).
