Yeah, that's what I thought. You have no idea who Vernon Perry is, and you don't understand being a fan.

Carry on.
Dude, I saw Perry play while at Jackson State, totally familiar with him and his career.  I also own his football cards,

So wrong it's comical.

Long time pro football fan here, there is nobody I;m not aware of, and have cards from 1956.

Tearing up a football card, really guy?

Uh huh... well, congratulations on looking him up on Google. Anyone who was actually familiar with his career would know why a fan of a certain team might tear up his card.

If you find it so outrageous that someone might dispose of something like a sports card, you might be a fan of the game, but you don't understand fandom.

Dude,  talk to me about HBCU players in the NFL going back to Paul "Tank"  Younger.  Talk to me about pro players out of Jackson State like Perry.  I can talk NFLers/AFLers/AAFCers you have never heard of.

What about been into pro football since the late 50's don't you understand?

Anyone tearing up a football card is simply immature, way too serious about it.'

Been a Niner fan since the days of J.D.Smith, I know....who?

I own Vernon Perry football cards, ok?  Google????

... and yet you can't tell me anything about Vernon Perry other than what school he went to.

Look, I can't explain being a fan to you. It's more than looking up someone on Google and finding out where he went to college. It's more than pretending to follow the sport for so many years. It's not a crime that you don't feel passionately about the Niners. It just means you're not much of a fan.

Dude, pay attention.

I own over 20. 000 football cards, been into the game since the late 50's, can talk about the game on the highest level, so cool all this...pretend...BS, ok?

Perry played for the Oilers and the Saints and in the CFL, he had some great individual plays in his career.  A great safety.

I am not some kid who tears up football cards and gets mad at football players for doing what they get paid to do...ok?  Now if Perry or anyone punched my QB in a bar, ok.....pissed.

Again... that's all information that can easily be looked up online. If you know who he is, tell me what about him would inspire any kind of hatred, aggression, childishness, or whatever you want to call it from a fan of an opposing team. The fact that you have already taken several swings at it and came up with nothing more significant than his college and the teams he played for indicates that you have no idea.

And that's okay. Feel free to pursue something closer to your wheelhouse.

 You might want to google the name of your team's quarterback too. It seems to have eluded you.
Why are you fighting this so hard guy?  Ever seen me talk football on the football forum?  Historian here and everyone knows it. Kinda....cool all that old stuff...actually.

Dude, saw my first NFL game in 1958, ok?

There you go. Stick to stuff that no one can verify. It's a much safer choice.

Oh damn! I didn't realize you were doing such in-depth analysis.

"without question The GOAT"
"the poster boy for cool"
"there is a reason he holds all the records"
"the total package"
"will move up this list before he retires"

Holy crap! Do you work for The NFL Network?!? I profusely apologize. You definitely CAN talk football at the highest level.

:tebow:
translation

I was wrong you do know the game and obviously a long time fan, I apologize.

I also like how you copied Men's Journal later in that thread and tried to pass it off as your own.

I'm so damn happy that I followed through on this. The fact that you linked that thread as something you are proud of and evidence that you can "talk about the game at the highest level" is going to bring me a few good hours of amusement.

Thanks, ZenoRazon. The vast majority of people here who feel you bring no value to this forum just haven't realized how much humor you bring to the table.

Not getting this at all are ya?  All that was posted right here.

Dude, what is wrong with you?
I realize I could look it up, but I want to see the stuff that you're proud of. That's where the hilarity comes in to play. I mean, where else could I find in-depth analysis like "he could do it all" or "had some great seasons with the Eagles."

Dude, don't bother. He's got something wrong with him when he argues. He's an old man who just jabs his finger in your chest and says, "okay?" "Okay???!!!!!"

Ok, that will work....old man.  Yep....old man.....just like I said, yes been into pro football a long long time.  I talked about 1958.

You were wrong and now the pout.

You can buff those out...

So you went to a garage sale to buy a used hoe and instead came across 8000 CDs??  Or are you perhaps selling 8000 CDs??
I broke my hoe, so headed off to buy to new one.  A 25 dollar hoe?  Hell no, so I hit a junk store, while there I came across some used CD's to add to my huge 8000 strong collection.

Finally found a hoe at a yard sale for a buck.

You're not fun, though. There's nothing interesting or fun about you. I come here to be entertained, not jabbered at by a babbling and bellicose loon.
You are fun and interesting wimpering around all the time guy?

You know I;m a long time football fan so why not tell that guy that? instead you acted like it was me.......huh???

Dude, relax a little, way too damn uptight/serious about this stuff.

You still have never indicated that you know anything at all about Vernon Perry. It's pretty clear that all you did was look him up to find out what college and teams he played for.

If you want to prove that you have any understanding of who the player is tell me what he did that would provoke hostility from a fan of a certain opposing team. He really didn't have that many career highlights; so if you know him, it should be pretty easy.

Or you can just give me that tired old "Dude, I have X number of football cards and have watched the game since 19XX!" or "Tearing up a football card? Really?" that you've relied on every other time I've asked.

It's humorous that you consider "Of course I know who Vernon Perry is" as evidence, and I'm bewildered how you feel like you've proven anyone but yourself wrong.

So I didn't graduate HS in 68?  I didn't see Jim Brown play at Syracuse?  So all those threads talking old time footballlers is just me Googling?  Dude, how old am I?

I lied about seeng Perry play at Jackson State?  Why would I need to play that siliness?

You know what? Never mind. You've pretty much proven you have no idea, so I'll help you out.

One-Hit Wonder
Dude, you told me nothing, but if Id told you that.......you Google that....right?

I was born in 1949, started playing football as soon as I could. started watching the NFL on TV as a little kid, guessing late 50's. Saw a lot of NCAAgames also, do remember watching Jim Brown number 44 at Syracuse,  he stood out.....obviously.

Not sure why you took this ridiculous....Google/pretend....stance, it made no sense at all.  I don't lie guy, why would I? Very aware of everyone being a history buff. Especially those players from those HBCU schools like Vernon Perry.

Been a serious fan for a long long time my man, and have never had anyone go the route you did, it was actually kinda weird.

You'll help me out....hahahahaha~~~~~

The guy was a backup safety from the CFL who had one incredible game in his entire career. His family barely knew he was until this one game.

But you, who know such intimate details about him, like what school he attended and the two teams he played for, couldn't deliver on his only career highlight.

Also, why do you think anyone gives a crap how old you are?

Sometimes I feel like I’ve been spending my adulthood getting CD/ digital versions of stuff I listened to in my youth.
SID, are you kidding? These guys are going back-and-forth about God knows what and you're trying to have a real conversation about switching formats and media...

Love you, bro.

:lmao:
