Blaming someone here is a lot easier than blaming yourself for a stupid idea in the first place
Whether or not someone thinks what he did was stupid it doesn't come close to how low and pathetic it is if someone from this place actually reported him to authorities in Wisconsin.
Is there any sort of reason to believe someone here would call the authorities in Wisconsin and tell them some guy has a wallaby in the state? I mean a real, good, feasible reason.
You don't know this place that well do you.
I know it pretty well and despite some, er, characters I still can't see anyone here doing that. It's far more likely that someone in his neighborhood saw/heard about the wallaby and reported it. It seems like Hooter wanted an easy scapewallaby and blamed it on us rather than his neighbors.
Didn't he ask to bring it to a school, but the idea was shot down by the school admin? Maybe I am remembering wrong.
Bah. I think it's much more likely that someone from here called Wsconsin and told them that someone from the Internet named Hooter had a wallaby as a pet.
When they came to my door the first time they inquired for "Mike Hooter" which is a name I skateboarded under 12+ years ago and have an old hotmail address that is still hooked to FBGs because I've been here so darn long compared to any other place on the net. I watched them interview my neighbors before they came back the second time with the local police and more paperwork. Toby was turned over breifly when I thought they were ready to kick my door down over the whole thing. I lawyered up and petitioned to have Toby transferred to Quarentine with my vet. I don't know what they did with him in the 3 weeks they had possession of him, but he came back crazed. No longer a lap wallaby. I was heartbroken and sold him to a petting zoo in the Dells just a few weeks ago. Our bond was premantely broken by the government's intervention. He never did bond well with my son, and hated my dog, probably both due to jealously all around. When I tried bringing him to school he was the size of a large rabbit and probably about as "dangerous" as one. I still think it was ridiculous that the request was declined. The fact that the first paperwork referenced an imaginary person and included accusations of animal cruelty and profitting, and the fact that this was the only place I posted a thread; yeah, I think the snitch came from here.Do I blame the FFA? Absolutely not. I blame myself. If it was someone here, it probably was a username I wouldn't recognize. I don't suspect Tanner. That's the update, that's all there is to the story. I did technically "win", but my animal wasn't the same.
That sucks ### and I am sorry you lost your pet.

Gotcha. You suspect it's more likely that someone used an old hotmail address to tip off local authorities on someone named "Mike Hooter from the Internet" than perhaps the local teacher that knows where you live vehemently objected to you having the pet may have reported you. Seems logical.

Some neighbor kids started pestering their parents that they wanted one, too.The parents got pist that another parent was providing his kids will illegal pets and made them look bad for not doing the same.So those parents ratted him out so they could tell their kids "I told you so."

I still don't get it. How did someone get your address to report? You can't just call up and say "There's this guy in your city who posted on the interweb that he bought a wallaby and goes by the name 'Mike Hooter'.

We can probably rule you out as the narc, then. ;)

What's this Wallaby's name? Rocko?
I think a good name would be Wally.
My kid already has a Water Buffalo named Wally at my parent's ranch. My kid sister is going to try to break it to ride for him.I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried.
WTH?!??!?!!?
x2.Buffalo can be broken to ride?!
The ones in the Philippines can. The ones near Capetown...well, good luck with those...

There are many things to lament from this thread. But my single greatest regret is that there were no pics posted of a baby wallaby jacking shtuff up wearing itty bitty hulk pants.

Lol at catching a loose kangaroo.  No chance in Hades.  And I don't think the driver of the vehicle should be portrayed as the villian. In Wisconsin, she is the one liable for the damage to the vehicle.

You would have an easier time corralling a raccoon high on pcp.

Haven’t read the thread to see if this was mentioned, but somebody had a pair of wallabies in a private zoo on Oahu a century ago. Anyway, they escaped, and there is a colony of ~100 living in the mountains near Honolulu to this day.
