'85 Bears (1 Viewer)

Raider Nation

Devil's Advocate
Da Bearzzz

Thoughts:

Who says Ditka and Ryan didn't get along? There's only 7 coaches between them.

How come the Punky QB couldn't wear shades?

Ya gotta love Tom Thayer's spandex jersey.

BTW -- Jeff Fisher, #24 -- bottom right.

Face facts.... this is a picture of the Best Team EVA!

Thanks RN, haven't seen that pic in years... I believe current Bears DC Ron Rivera is also in that pic, #59.
I really like that pic for some reason. Not just because it's high quality. It's amazing how many players I can identify by face or jersey number after all these years. The other funny thing is the "Okay, you guys in the front row.... put your hands on your knees" pose. That always looks forced.

I've heard that if you are buying property in certain part of the east coast and a certain former NFL QB turned real estate agent is shown that photo, his rates take a dive. Thanks for rehashing my most distrubing memory of as a Pats fan. :lmao: :lmao:

Look how skinny they all look!

Like Somalia to todays NFL.

29 crackers on the roster as well. :lmao:

Good to see Otis Wilson in the pic, brings back memories... was always one of my favorites from that fierce defense.

Surprised how small they look.
They are smaller, but they also have sleeves. Guys today don't want to be brought down by their jerseys, so the shirts have evolved where there is less to grab. Today's higher/tighter sleeves show off the guns much more, too. Stay tuned for more H.K.'s Football Fashion Tips....

Richard dent was one of mine... man, so many great players on this team! Dent, Wilson, Marshall, Hampton, Bell, Rivera, Perry (Fridge), Singletary. And thats just from the D!!

Top 5 maybe. Steelers, 49ers, Cowboys all had better teams (hence more than one SB). That undefeated Dolphins team was pretty good too.

The "more than one Super Bowl" argument is irrelevant to me.I'm talking about ONE team, ONE year. The '85 Bears were the most nasty, intimidating bunch in history. Not only didn't that defense want you to score, they took it personally if you gained a yard on them! They gave up 10 total points in three playoff games... all of them coming in the Super Bowl. They started the playoffs with two straight shutouts. You'll likely never see that again.

 That playoff run was SICK.

All four of the Steelers Super Bowl teams were a nasty, intimidating bunch. Sure, they Bears had a great playoff run, no question. But the Steelers did that more than once.....

Yes the Steelers did it more than once, but not one of them was as dominating as the Bears.

Not having much time to spend on the board as I used to, it's nice to be able to pop in once in a while and find a gem like this.

:own3d: :lmao:

Nice job, Raidernation!

intimidating
yeah, I think that was the key for them.I can still see Tony Eason implementing the only No-step drop in the history of NFL quarterbacking... hike and drop (in conjunction with considerable turtling).I know it's tough to quantify or prove anything in any of these "best ever" threads, but those '85 Bears certainly were the most intimidating group I've ever seen.

Sheesh.. Andy Frederick was a backup OFFENSIVE lineman. Mike Hartenstine, Tyrone Keys and Henry Waechter were the reserve D-Linemen.

And there's at least two other 'RIP' folks in that picture besides (the missing) Todd Bell.

The guy wearing jersey 96 is Keith Ortego.

When he played I thought he was jersey 89 though...

Andy Frederick is actually jersey #71 in that picture.

Whos that good looking guy wearing his trademark #18?

ME BABY. ME. Right in the Center. As I should be.

FAST FACT

Did you know I was the last remaining player from the 85 Bears to retire!?

Now thats what I call  !!

Off the top of my head Payton is one of them. Who is the other?

They were the best team EVA ( Without a offense it makes it even better ) they had no QB and poor WRs . ( McMahon was a bad bad QB )

That s all they had a D ( The best ever but still ) they had a certain #34 on offense and that was it .
