9th Pick in a 12 Team PPR (1 Viewer)

I am in a 12 team ppr with the 9th pick. Our scoring is 1pt/rec, 1pt/10 rush/rec, 6pts rush/rec td, 4pt pass td

We start 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1 Flex WR/RB/TE, Def/ST, K

How many have had their drafts and what are people thinking at the 9th spot? I am seriously considering going WR/RB and the going RB/WR in the 3rd-4th. I believe in picking quarterbacks late usless I get great value.

The other thread is for a 10 team league which is very different than a 12 team.

What are your thoughts?

i have the 8 pick in a similar scoring system in about 4 hrs and I have no idea.

DeAngelo, SJax, Slaton, C Johnson and LT, then any WR could be there.

I want DeAngelo, will take Slaton if not, then it gets messy for me, will try to trade down if I can.

This is dynasty format (not sure if you meant redraft). Same scoring system as yours.

Ongoing draft w/ 9th pick:

Calvin 1.09 (Shocked he was there as I view him as the #1 or #2 overall pick)

Roddy 2.04

Bowe 3.09

Bush 4.04

Marshall 5.09

Note: I've always drafted WR heavy. Can always deal later.

While this thread kind of belongs in the assistant coaches forum I will bite. I went at the 9th pick but my league was not a PPR and it also requires 3 WR's but for the rest they are the same. I pretty much ranked my players in a general list and had no certain plan of taking this position first or that position second. My plan was to take the best available player especially in the first 3 or 4 rounds and then fill needed positions that were not met in the lower rounds. The nice thing is though that often times durring the draft the best available player was the position i needed. My draft went like thisStarters are in bold

Round Player position

1 Matt Forte RB Too many QB happy picks moved him down to me

2 Steven Jackson RB I am very surprised I got him is round 2

3. Steve Smith WR I think he is a good value at the pick

4. Kurt Warner QB I wanted a decent passer this year and felt the fall off was pretty substantial after Warner

5. Antonio Gates TE Was the highest rated player on my list when this round came up

6. Braylon Edwards WR I was picking position here. There were more valuable players on the board at the time but not at the Wr position

7. Willie Parker RB (backup with different bye week than my starters) Most valuable player on the board

8. Laveranues ColesWR Picked for position here as I need to start 3 WR's

9. Reggie Bush RB (Best available player at the pick.too bad I cant play him as a WR)

10. Donnie Avery WR (Depth pick)

11. Eagles DST I am really surprised I got a good defense by waiting this long. The Titans went off the board in round 5

12. Kyle Orton QB (Depth) So So pick. I probably should have taken Garrard but bye week was an issue.

13. Dominik Hixon WR (Depth) I am really expecting this pick to be the steal of the draft

14. David Akers K great kicker for the very last draft pick of the day.

I just don't know how much I love this spot. It seems in the later rounds I am going to miss out on some good players and to settle or I will have to reach too much. I would have preferred pick 11 or 12 this year. My first round pick just looks so suspect.

How have other drafts in a 12 team ppr from the 9 spot gone?

Eh, not thrilled with the spot either. We do a PPR after 5, so it's not a true PPR.

Went with LT in the 1st and got Calvin Johnson after the turn. Not bad, IMO. I did not like what was considered the best player available for me at the 3rd and 4th round picks. Ended up with Bowe and McFadden. Not a horrible 1st 4 picks, but I like the outcome of other draft spots better.

I like the LT and Calvin Johnson picks. Your 1st 4 picks aren't too bad. What other runningbacks were available in the 4th?

I remember debating him, Bush, Moreno, Lynch and Addai.

For my Bowe pick... Ocho Cinco, TJ Housh, V Jackson, TO and B Marshall were all there.

I actually think the 9th spot PPR is a good place to be this year if you just take what comes to you.

I went in with the mindset that I HAD to land a receiver in the third, but when everyone passed on Ronnie Brown, I found myself ecstatic to get him there. When 6 rounds passed, I had my standard 3 backs and 3 receivers, and I was fortunate enough to get Schaub in the 7th, and Cooley in the 8th.

I would much prefer to be in the 9th slot than in the 4th or 5th slot this year.

Did WR-WR-WR in a 12 team PPR and loved it. Got AJ, Moss and Colston. :suds:
Nice! AJ/Moss combo is going to win you a lot of games... I'm curious though what RB's you were able to land after the 3rd?I just had my draft last night at the 9 spot (12 teamer) with almost identical scoring/starting requrements (only difference is we start 3 WR instead of 2).RB's went flying off the board from the start... ADP, MJD, Forte, Turner, SJax, Gore, and DeWill were the first 7 picks. Fitz went at 1.08.I figured the elite RBs are off the board, so rather than settle for a second tier RB why not have the advantage at WR. I took AJ, but kind of regrest not going Moss there. Then Calvin in the 2nd.Portis and Ronnie Brown were my next two picks.Good luck!

Wow, I really think I like that start. I would be happy with Portis & Ronnie in the 3rd & 4th. I am a bit surprised that Ronnie lasted to the 4th. How was the rest of your draft?

I took Slaton in a ppr instead of any receiver not named Fitzgerald. I think he is the safer pick as he will not be as dependant on Schaub staying healthy as A. Johnson would have been., Moss was also a consideration as was Gore. Steve Smith in the 2nd and then B. Jacobs in the third. I had Kevin Smith available to me in the 3rd and were I to do it over again would take him. Rodgers was my 4th round selection as I tend to draft QBs a little earlier than most. I am mostly happy with the way my team turned out. The 9 spot is probably an average position to draft from. You are best off just taking the best player available, but starting either wr/rb or rb/wr leaves you better able to choose the bpa available in the 3rd and 4th rounds.

After Portis and Brown, the rest of the draft went...Witten, LJ, Holt, Hixon, PIT, Schaub, Garrard, Fred Taylor, Betts, and AkersOur exact starting req's are 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1RB/WR/TE, 1K, and 1DEF.I really wanted Witten so I have no problems with taking him there in the 5th. In addition to regretting passing on Moss, I also could have had Kevin Jones instead of Brown, but I talked myself out of it by telling myself that my FF life would have depended on the Texans and Lions :X (Although you could argue that the Lions are a FF team's dream.Defenses kind of get penalized pretty severely (we modified the scoring a bit to go easier on them), so after BAL was taken in the 7th, my prayers were answered when PIT lasted to me in the 8th.All in all, I'm pretty happy with my team. I think all my WR's will get plenty of targets/game (maybe not so much Holt and Hixon), but AJ, CJ, and Witten should pick up the slack hopefully. I know that I am a little thin at RB talent, but I think they are definitely serviceable. I think I got good value out of Schaub and Garrard where I got them.Other than the AJ and Brown picks, there weren't any others where I was on the fence on or regret.

I was able to land Reggie in both my PPR leagues, interesting to see him go in the second here.

Everyone soured on him BIG TIME in both leagues I am in...so much so, I was going to take him in the 5th, and after no one bit, I was able to get him in the 6th with all 3 receiver spots locked up. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 DST

1. DeAngelo Williams

2. Reggie Wayne

3. Ronnie Brown

4. Braylon Edwards

5. Eddie Royal

6. Reggie Bush

7. Matt Schaub

8. Chris Cooley

11. Trent Edwards

12. San Diego
