______ Passed Away Today, RIP (1 Viewer)

Damn.  My wife just made me watch the Alanis doc last week and Taylor was magnetic every minute he was on screen, something that only grew with the Foos.  He played with such joy.
I saw that and not sure I knew he was her drummer until I saw the doc

Latest out of Columbia: Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins found with multiple substances in hotel room.

There were multiple drugs found in the room where Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins died, according to a report out of Colombia which cited official sources.

“Colombian authorities found: marijuana, antidepressants, opioids, heroine [sic]. At least 10 different substances found,” tweeted journalist Luis Carlos Velez on Saturday afternoon, citing Fiscalia Colombia, the national attorney general’s office.

Hawkins, 50, was found dead in a hotel room at the Four Seasons Casa Medina in Bogota, on Friday.

Velez initially reported that Hawkins had overdosed, but later appeared to backtrack in a follow up tweet.

“Colombian authorities press release confirming 10 substances found – Oficial release does not say overdose. Investigation continues,” he wrote.

Heartbroken fans gathered outside the building to mourn the sensational drummer behind international Foo Fighters hits such as “My Hero,” “Learn to Fly” and “Best of You.”

According to those close to him, the death could be related to the consumption of drugs,” the Metropolitan Police of Bogota told El Tiempo hours after the drummer’s body was found.

Another update.

The Attorney General of Colombia’s office has reported a urine toxicology test shows the musician had multiple drugs in his system at the time of his death, including “marijuana, tricyclic antidepressants, benzodiazepines and opioids, among others.”

Earlier Saturday, the District Secretary of Health in Colombia confirmed Hawkins died after having chest pains at his hotel in Chapinero.

“The city’s Emergency and Emergency Regulatory Center received a report about a patient with chest pain in a hotel located north of the city. An ambulance was dispatched to attend to the case,” the statement said, which FOX News translated into English.

Responders reportedly used “resuscitation maneuvers” on Hawkins, but were ultimately unable to get a response and he was declared dead.

No official cause of death has been reported but an investigation is underway

One of my favorite people has passed - my tv mama, Estelle Harris. The joy of playing with her and relishing her glorious laughter was a treat. I adore you, Estelle. Love to your family. Serenity now and always. #RIPEstelleHarris

@billmeltzer: In honor of legendary Philadelphian singer and actor (and drummer) Bobby Rydell, who passed away today, they are playing Wildwood Days at WFC during the 2nd intermission.

@RadarResist: Singer and Philadelphia native Bobby Rydell died from non-Covid related pneumonia complications on Tuesday at Jefferson Hospital, according to his spokesperson.

The 1950s teen idol was known for his hits 'Wildwood Days,' 'Volare,' 'Swinging School,' among many others. https://twitter.com/RadarResist/status/1511504582572191749/photo/1

Sad.   I learned about on this on twitter.  Why can't people just report facts without adding in little jabs?
I agree 100%.  He was 24.  Twenty Four.  No parents should have to suffer through this.  I wonder how some of these a-holes would feel if this was their relative, friend, co-worker, that someone else is crapping all over. Someone that meant so much to them to have their name dragged in the mud at this very moment, completely disgusting and disgraceful.  I don't understand this and I'll never understand this holier than thou attitude some in the media have against players and coaches.  People are people, we're all human, ffs have some respect and just let the family mourn in peace.  I wish some of these "journalists" would be shunned and forced to go into a different field.

Chris Bailey, co-founder of Aussie proto punx The Saints, passed on Saturday ... was only 65.

their big single I'm Stranded was released prior to any of the British acts ... pretty spiff claim to fame - not to mention it's chaotic fuzziness beats the living #### outta most of it's peers.

R.I.P.

oh damn. :(

I saw his name pop on my news feed this morning and figured they had some re-release coming out.

I got to them later, and I know they have been pretty universally appreciated, but I'm still surprised by people into the genre who don't know them. it's kinda like not knowing the Clash or Sex Pistols at this point.

that tune sounds like it was recorded in a wind tunnel, and the guitar tone is the jangled fuzz of genius ... they took the absolute full measure of the Stooges archetype and shot it full of amphetamine - i hear their influence most in the early 'Mats ... "Sorry, Ma" owes just about every chord to the Saints first platter.

Back in the late 70s I used to order vinyl through a mail order catalog that I couldn't find at the local record shop. I remember liking this single when I first heard it on a late nite show that played a lot of early punk and "new wave".

my antipodal doppelganger

sometime in the mid-to-late 80s, my agent called me after one of his UK visits w our old friend Mike Kamen - America's 1st rock opera guy who became a movie soundtracker - and said he'd just met my double. "Aussie rocker, looks like you, moves like you, same arrogance, even taps his leg with a smoke in it all the time like you do". Scary Mary knew who he was and sorta agreed but i saw a pic and was like "meh". wasn't til Youtube i found out how creepy the similarity. RIP -

ETA: yeesh - just realized that everybody in that story is dead. see you soon, guys...

My good friend called me last night about this, he worked with Gilbert on his podcast for years and was pretty broken up about it.

Said Gilbert's wife called him and said she was taking him off life support in the next few hours. Apparently Gilbert was nothing like his persona and was a terrific, down to earth guy.  Huge bummer.
