A funny feeling about LJ (1 Viewer)

I've had LJ rotting on my bench all year and have only played him in desperate BYE week situations. I've got two guys on my roster who are ranked better than him according to just about every source, but I just have a funny feeling that he is primed for a monster game in KC today. The SD defense has ranked #27 against the rush, and they're giving up 140+ and a rushing TD every game (though they've gotten progressively worse in recent weeks). They're playing at Arrowhead, the weather will be nice, I think scores will be run up, and I think LJ comes out and has his first 100+ and at least one TD today.

(That said, I just don't know that I have the stones to start him over "better" options.)

120 yards rushing, 15 yards receiving, and 2 TDs

And I'll be able to kick myself repeatedly in the groin looking at those numbers on my bench.

I've been having the same gut feeling. I seriously considered starting him in front of PT this week, but can't seem to pull the trigger. Of course, I'm sure PT will run all over Miami with Bell stealing the goaline glory, while LJ has a career game.

With bye weeks, I've got L.Washington and D. Brown starting over him. I'm rethinking Brown.
I think I start LJ over either of those guys without even a hint of hesitation. If I didn't have Gore and Turner to trot out there, I'd be starting LJ. Even now I'm feeling LJ puts up better numbers than Turner this week. What kinds of injuries do they have on the SD defensive front this week?

To answer my own question:

Name Position Injury Practice Status Game Status

Nick Hardwick C Ankle Out (Definitely Will Not Play) Out

Kevin Burnett LB Ankle Did Not Participate In Practice Doubtful

Craig Davis WR Illness Did Not Participate In Practice Questionable

Travis Johnson DE Groin Did Not Participate In Practice Questionable

Jacob Hester RB Illness Full Participation in Practice Questionable

Antonio Cromartie CB Knee Limited Participation in Practice Questionable
Merriman is probable, but if Burnett sits and they've got a couple other guys who are questionable, this could be a feasting day for LJ...

Not throwing him in over Turner, but I did give it a thought.
I have a strong feeling we'll both be regretting this.Edited to add: Screw that. I won't be regretting it. Starting LJ with confidence. You're all welcome in advance for the tremendous amount of additional fantasy points this week.

I don't know. It comes down to Turner on a better team with a better offense, etc. They will get similar touches, but SDC have a worse rush d. It seems pretty even, hoping both crush it.
Trust me, I'm well aware that the ATL offense is a much, much better offense -- and I think they go into DAL and come out with a win this week -- but I just love what I think LJ can do this week. We'll see.

In a league I'm in with very shallow rosters, I picked him up this week and dropped Choice. You know Larry will get 18-25 carries in this game. I think he blows up with 100+ and a touchdown.

They suck even when healthy - injuries aren't really a factor for them at this point.I'm starting LJ with confidence in every league I own him.

Need full disclosure here Oat, you really starting LJ or are you reverse jinxing an opponent who started him?

Or is this a case of an O-jinx in progress? You start a guy and he tanks and all the alternatives mentioned in the thread (Jonathan Stewart, etc.) all go off... what's your record on Otis Shark Pool Threads?

Really weird week. I've owned the NO RB's all year and Bradshaw, have had no brainer starters. This week I picked up LJ in a trade (for McCoy to the Westbrook owner) and Maroney in a FA bidding war. As of now, I have LJ and Maroney in my lineup with PT and Bradshaw on my bench. Matchups are that much better. Hope I don't regret it.

As for the Chargers go, I just don't see how they will be fired up after a critical Monday night home loss. Arrowhead is tough for them when they are in a great frame of mind, and they most definitely aren't. NE vs. TB is just too juicy. I hope all my RB's do well so it won't matter - we'll eee.

LJ has been getting at least 20 touches a game most weeks where they are competitive. San Diego looks terrible right now and although they have a far superior offense, I expect the game to be tight...tight enough to where LJ could become a factor. Ic alled for 100 yds and a TD in my weekly, I stick to that although the numbers you projected wouldn't suprise me at all today.

LJ owners will likely jump off the ledge today if he doesn't produce.

Starting LJ over Felix. I believe he will produce nice values, but not a monster day.

Respectable Value: 110 yards 1 TD

That funny feeling you have, it's probably just hope, bordering on desperation. There is at least one "funny feeling LJ blows up this week thread" per week. That said, I have that same funny feeling and in any case I have to start him with Rice on a bye.

Ugh, I had this feeling last week and started him over Zach Miller.

Cost me my game.

I have to get away from my PC to not make the same mistake twice.

I would say that this is like reading tea leaves, but then you're sort of an expert with leaves recently so . . .

I've actually been impressed with LJ, dragging piles for additional yards every carry when there's nothing there. I'm horrified with how bad the Chiefs are at every phase of the game. O-Line is beyond atrocious, with yelling "LOOKOUT!!!" being their major contribution. Defense can't tackle or guard anyone. And Cassell? He may rank up there with Javon Walker as the most overpaid free agent EVAH.

I'm starting him this week, figured he could actually get a decent game against the Chargers...doesn't look good so far. Probably doesn't help that he is getting no help from anyone else on the team in moving the ball. Cassel is 4/10 for 30 yards in 2 qtrs....ooch.

Given the first "bold" it may be difficult to evaluate the 2nd but points well taken.

I thought all Otis did in the Shark Pool was come here to make fun of people.
That and to start thinly veiled WDIS threads
I've done plenty of work in the Shark Pool over the years, and in that time made a few pretty good calls (this not being one of them). I've since moved on to greener pastures.
