A guy really wants Moss - is there any deal (1 Viewer)

I have Moss and one of the other owners has been bugging me about trading him for quite some time. He recently offered edge for moss straight up but I told him I just can't do it because of my team structure. He responded with fine, what do you want. I am really not sure what to ask for if anything. I'm starting to think I should just tell him nothing but I wanted to post my team and his here so I could get some thoughts.12-Team Dynasty QB/RB/3WR/FLEX/TE2DL/2LB/2DB/2FLEXPerformance scoring for offense1.25/tkl .5/ast 2/pd 4/sk 4/intMy team (excl QB/TE/DB because they aren't relevant)RB Barber/Portis/Caddy/Rhodes/Moore/Fason/Cobbs/WellsWR Moss/Chad.Johnson/Lee Evans/McCareins/Curry/D.HendersonTE Heap/B.WilliamsDL Rod Coleman, Kenard Lang, Greg Ellis, Robert Geathers LB Nick Barnett, Lehman, DJ Williams, Thornton, June, Foreman, Crowder, L.Mitchell, Fincher, TinoiHis teamRB McGahee/Edge/D.Davis/S.JacksonWR Andre L. I am leaning towards just standing pat but want to make sure I'm not missing something obvious

If you deal Moss, I'd want McGahee instead of Edge.OR Moss for SJax and either AJ or Fitzgerald.

Oz hit it on the head. If he wants Moss that badly, offer him Moss for SJ and AJ or Fitz. If he wants Moss badly enough, he'll give them up. That is one of my trade theories. When you have a player that someone is coming after and you don't want to give up, you can usually get more than market value. SJ or even DD and AJ or Fitz would be a good deal for you to deal Moss.

This is interesting. You need a RB unless you want to lean on Tiki and Portis to make a run this year but even then you have little real depth in the short term at RB, assuming Carnell does not completely tear it up this year (I never bet on rookies!). Adding an Edge would be a huge upgrade especially as he is in another contract year and I always want elite RBs and place a massive premium on them. You also make a good point that you could trade Tiki for a top WR later on or package him with one of your many LBs for an elite WR. If Carnell works out and mid year you have Edge, Carnell, Ports, and Caddy then you are in great shape to trade for a top WR. But you also really lose WR depth and production if you get rid of Moss (off topic but you may end up starting Curry next year as he really came on last year and would not surprise me if he was the #2 in Oakland next year). So a WR and RB deal is what you really want. The question is whether this guy will deal Johnson or Fitzgerald plus one of his RBs. I don't think I would do that if I had his team (if those are all his RBs), especially with all the Johnson is the 2nd coming talk that we always hear and Fitgerald's talent. But it can not hurt to ask and I think you would be the big winner there. If he doesn't do that, I am assuming you don't want the question marks with Rogers or Mason. Lelie is a tough call. He could be a top 15 guy and he was very strong last year and he is young, but he is not elite yet. I think an Edge and Lelie COULD be good if you believe he will take over for Rod Smith who is very old.If he does Edge and Gates, you would really win. Then there is the question of your DL. DL is always tough to find on the waiver wire. CB is pretty easy, LB a little tougher, but DL is just hard. And if someone emerges, everyone wants him. So you may have a good idea with Edge and Henderson, but why not Strahan? He is coming off a fantastic year 2 yrs. ago and reports are that he will be at or close to 100%. He is older, but that would be a huge upgrade for you in the short-term and maybe you could get some DL help in your draft. I would always rather have a DE than a DT especially since it looks like your sacks are highly awarded. If you decide to increase the number of people traded, there are many possibilities since you guys have so many complementary players.

Best piece of advice for you...If you do not feel like you would improve your team as a result of a trade, then there is no reason to make it. You'll only wind up regretting it. No need to make the deal on your end whatsoever. The only team it helps out is his. I would politely decline and tell him that you are not ready to part with Moss at this time.If you don't, you're going to wind up banging your head against hard objects every time ESPN rolls a highlight of Moss catching one deep from Collins...

I disagree with the previous post. I think if you have an opportunity to gain depth at RB with one of the premier players in the league, you do it. One thing you also need to evaluate is the uncertainty with Moss' production as a Raider. He is the man, but you really don't know what is going to happen to him. You can bank on Edge's production and to a lesser extent McGahee's, but you can not bank on Moss with a new system, a new QB, etc. Also, if you need help at DL, you have an opportunity to get 2 very good starters for one (assuming he takes the deal). Same goes if you do a deal for one of his receivers as well.Did you propose any of the deals above? I think the Moss Caddy for Edge AJ would definitely make your team better (assuming you belive in AJ). Good luck!

I wouldn't add Caddy into any deal unless I got McGahee back. One think you could try to work is getting Winslow back - he's completely boom-bust right now, but he could work out.I don't think this helps you that much - Moss is so much better than McCareins, you need to get a WR & a RB back. Perhaps try:Moss/Barber/bad DLEdge/Johnson/good DL/GatesLocking up the Indy RB for you and getting younger at RB & WR.

Thoughts on this one?Moss for Edge/Henderson (DL mine are horrible and he was top 10 in our scoring last season)I then move Tiki for Michael Clayton and Antonio Pierce so I get a top 10 top 15 LB and a top 15 top 20 receiver to make up for the loss of Moss.Is this enough or am I better off staying put? Thanks

That's a better deal if you can make the Tiki deal happen - you get younger at RB & WR and get a good young DL plus Pierce.Clayton isn't quite Moss - but he could get to be almost that good.Steve
