A.J. Hawk's interception (1 Viewer)

And he looked fat! I figured maybe he just had lots of layers because of the cold, but wasn't sure.

That linebacking crew they have is going to be really good (they are close to that already)!

Looked just fine for a LB. He is still 2nd in tackles on the team and has two INT's with one sack. What more do you want from him?

I agree he looked slow returning that interception yesterday, but feel compelled to note that Hawk's interception of Joe Flacco a few weeks ago was one of the most athletic, spectacular plays I have seen from a Packer linebacker this season, and there have been some great ones.

I was shocked he didn't take that back. I've seen Defensive tackles with more foot speed.
I don't think he was running full speed. He had to avoid Hass early on in the run and then he was trying to stay in bounds for the rest of the run. Also, he was making sure to protect the ball so he wouldn't have it stripped on the return. He's not super fast, but he was fast enough to make the pick.

That pick was a gift from Hass, one of the worst I've seen thrown this season. Hawk is a pretty athletic guy, so I wouldn't read too much into this.

It just struck me, that's all. It seemed glaring. On rewatching it I chalk it up to indecision on the runback and not so much to basic athleticism or a lack thereof.

I also noticed that Jennings missed the endzone on two plays where he would likely have gotten in last year. I think his struggles this year are a little inside his head and he reacted to them. That said, he is starting to string together some impact games and a return of his confidence could go a lng way in the upcoming playoffs.

Do a search on threads with "Hawk" in the title...I've been saying this...guy is overrated, always has been.

His production is probably more material than how it looks getting it done. David Boston looked great in shorts. Matt Lienert looked good on paper. I think he can play, and well, in the correct system. Is he the greatest impact backer of the last 5 years, no. Is he vernon Ghosten, no. He was maybe drafted a little too early for his impact, but lots of guys with earlier grades bust out, and lots of impact players slip through every grading system and make names for themselves in the league. I was jsut noting that to me, on that play, he seemed less graceful, fluid, and fast than I would have thought. When he picked the ball, given the position on the field, I was shocked it did not go for 6. Looking at it again I see my initial opinion may have been a little harsh.

 He is finally playing up to some of his potential and expectation. Not long after the threat of being benched and not long after he lost some of his duties.

That is the play - thanks for the video link. Going stride for stride with Todd Heap and then jumping and reaching back for the pick was a very impressive, athletic play in my opinion. With 20/20 hindsight, maybe Thompson would take Vernon Davis today over Hawk at #5, but with Davis on the roster, he perhaps would not have added Jermichael Finley to the team when he did. Seeing plays like this (and several others Hawk has made in recent weeks) lead me to think the team is better off today with Hawk and Finley than if they'd drafted Davis.

Id hope in hindsight they would take Ngata over Hawk or Davis if they could do it all over again.

That last example won't be persuasive to the person you offered it to. He still thinks Leinart is better than Rivers.

Davis has one year and the critics come out of the weeds. Till this year the underwear model Davis was a non factor. During those years Hawk help the Packers on D with being a stable guy making the normal plays. I think the draft pick was fine then and still is.

I know that. It appeals, however, to my twisted sense of humor to offer it to him nonetheless. I also know what his feeling on Gholston is based on his Alma Mater (Gholston's) and Lhucks reaction thereto.
