Johnson had more hype than just about anyone last year and laid a massive egg. Yes, they got some OLs and signed Moulds, but could this guy just be overrated?

MC had an amazing rookie year but injuries slowed him down last year. Or was it just a slump and he is back to reality?

What do you guys think?

No doubt Clayton was affected by his lingering injuries last year. From what I read, he was dinged up before the season even started. I really look for him to bounce back and really thrive with Simms now installed as the permanent starter.

AJ should be fantastic too this year with Moulds opposite him in this new offense. At the end of the day, I think AJ may well end up with slightly better numbers than Clayton this year.

Agreed on all points. I'm currently an MC owner and I think AJ is clearly a better prospect based on freakish natural ability, I am just VERY worried about last year. The guy was not injured and just disappeared...he was very ineffective in the short passing game and I'm worried that he will be relegated to long ball only duty. That is good, but I don't want Moulds to be the 80 catch guy and AJ to be the 60 catch guy, albeit with an average of 15+ yards a catch...

I may be wrong but I seem to remember AJ being banged up for a time too last year. What I saw from him more than anything last year was that he really became frustrated with the offense. A new regime was definitely in order.

AJ was injured early last year and missed a few games... Still, if you check his numbers, I'll bet he was close to a 100 reception rate over the last half of the season. Came through fine for me in the fantasy play-offs.Granted, this doesn't measure up to the hype but he didn't "disappear" either.

I have both AJ and Clayton and will probably play them based on match-ups as a #3 WR.

He was definately injured a few games. I'm thinking he missed 3 or 4 games. I remember being at the game where he hurt himself on the first play from scrimmage. He spent the rest of the first quarter riding a stationary bike on the sidelines. Then he just stood there for the rest of the half. Don't remember if he came back out after the half or not.

:goodposting: I remember that after he was injured, he said that he played the first 3 games hurt, but he tried to play anyway. If you look at his last 8* games, he had 52 receptions for 609 yards and 2 TDs. The TD level is not good, but for a whole season at 104 receptions, 1218 yards and 4 TDs, he would have ranked 19th, which is just a shade better than his first 2 years. If he could get the TD output up, he would be very good, especially in PPR leagues. Actually in a PPR league his last 8 game stretch multiplied by 2 would have put him at WR10.

I think AJ has a good value if he stays healthy. If he does he is a decent WR2 and in PPR leagues, he could be a very good WR2.

*I am not counting the SF debacle as he was targeted 3 times, i.e. Houston tried hard to lose that one. The previous 8 games, AJ was targeted a minimum of 8 times and a maximum of 17. Houston also held out DD at the end as well. They definitely had packed it in already.
