A. Johnson sent for MRI after posting 159 yds

Andre Johnson caught six passes for 149 yards and added two rushes for 10 yards against the Eagles in Week 13.

On his first play back from taking a second-quarter shot to numb the pain in his ankle, Johnson hauled in an underthrown bomb that should have gone for a TD. Courtesy of a nifty push-off, he picked up 31 yards on a key third-down fade that set up the Texans' go-ahead score late in the third quarter. Padding his stats, Johnson picked up two receptions and 49 yards in garbage time. Now over 1,000 yards for fifth time in his career, Johnson has an MRI scheduled for his ankle Friday morning. Nothing like having your star receiver, who is playing through an injured ankle, be forced to turn the corner on a reverse and risk further damage.

Exactly.....I thought, man that is dumb. Give those plays to Jacoby Jones.

Yep. Kubiak is terrible. This is the latest...

The pain was so bad that Johnson had to go to the locker room for a painkilling injection in the second quarter. He finished with six catches for 149 yards in a gritty performance.

“I don’t know how bad it is. It’s numb right now,” Johnson said after the game. “When I was playing before I came in (to the locker room), I was limping when I was out on the field, and I told them that I needed to do something if I was going to continue to play. We came in and numbed it up. When I came back, I looked like a new person. The rest of the game, I felt fine.”

Johnson originally sprained his ankle in Week 2 against the Redskins. He was not listed on the injury report this week for the first time since suffering the injury.

“I’m not really worried about it,” Johnson said. “Just from the diagnosis the doctor took, he said he thinks that I just re-tweaked it, and we’ll find out in the morning.”

So I guess we should all just hope for the best.

The good news is that he's playing next monday.
That's not good news at all.It means that if he's a GTD you're screwed. You either have to make a decision during Sunday's games to replace him or wait until Monday and either a) play AJ, or b) play scrubs K. Walter or J. Jones.I don't welcome that madness during the first week of the fantasy playoffs.KY

He played most of the game after injuring it, I would be shocked if he's unable to go next week.
That's what I thought about Pierre Thomas when he injured his ankle and came back to break off a big run in OT vs. the Falcons...

I need that bye big time

The worst thing was that they lost the game last night. Now, they may not feel a need to rush back their star player and he may sit. Had they won, they would have still been in the race and needed his services

They need Indy or Jax to lose this week. That will keep them "in the race" in the AFC South hopefully.

That's the thing. I'm thinking that a Baltimore receiver might be a viable back up plan since Houston's secondary sucks. We're looking at Housch or Stallworth. Another option is possibly McGahee as a flex (that's probably where I will go since I already own him).

What a bunch of panicky petes.

He'll be fine. He has 11 days for therapy and rest and as you saw , with a little pain tolerance assistance he can produce 159 yds of total offense. Nothing to see here.

He gets 11 days off and based on how he has been, I doubt he misses the game. Even if the Texans' records suggests they have nothing to play for, I doubt we will see the texans sitting. The coach NEEDS to have a good showing down the stretch and the Texans historically are the anti-Colts and have played before (and played well) in the "meaningless" games.

I am not concerned with it. He was running in and out of the huddles and creating space on medium deep routes after that ridiculous reverse play. What concerns me is is the erratic mind numbing play of Schaub and the play calling from Kubiak. Houston had this game right in their mitts and just gave it away. After the second TD from Foster- they came out in their next series (and the rest of the game) essentially ignoring their two best weapons.

I cannot stand reverse plays to tall receivers. Most of the time- the play is strung out to the sidelines and that is an area where injuries can occur with all the clutter on the sidelines. When I saw that play I just about pulled my hair out. AJ will be out there. 10 days to rehab that ankle is plenty of time. The next 5 days will have lingering questions and missed practices but he will be a go.

Reverses should be to small receivers and hacks. There are some really stupid OC's in the NFL. The Lions used to run Calvin on reverses and he would get drilled in the thighs and lower legs every time. It appears someone over there has woken up. Jerry Rice got an ACL tear on a reverse.

Im worried about them shutting him down for the season at some point

Why risk your franchise player if you have no shot for the playoffs?

At this point, it seems to just be a sprained ankle. I don't see what the risk is.

I didn't watch the game; did Schaub really underthrow an easy TD to Andre?
Badly. AJ was wide open and had to basically stop his route and wait for the ball to arrive, allowing the defender to catch up.
It was pretty much the same 2x move as obomanu's 87 yarder, but schaub threw a duck.
when you have somebody that wide open for a guaranteed 40+ yd gain, i actually thing its a better play to go conservative and underthrow him but make sure he can get to it vs. attempting to hit him perfectly in stride and risk overthrowing him.

Yeah, it sure had an awful impact upon AJ. I think he had only had 159 total yards and 6 catches. :lmao:

I somewhat I agree...but in this case, all he had to do was lead him a little bit were AJ could have jogged and caught the pass instead of having to stop completely...bad throw

From Texans reporter Nick Scurfeld on twitter...

WR Andre Johnson's MRI showed that he re-tweaked his sprained right ankle, per Kubiak- "No significant change in what we're looking at"

Yeah and was wide open for a TD pass that would have added 20 more yards and a TD to those numbers let alone more potential numbers for the lousy play calling and sub par performance from Schaub in the 4th quarter. While I am happy with the number from AJ last night- it might have been a higher number but his games in the future will be effected by Schaub and Kubiak. Too bad for the Texans that their season is probably over and those in FF playoffs might suffer the same fate.

For crying out loud. There's an Andre Johnson MRI thread right on page 1 of this forum.
Well...that thread is now about anything but the MRI that was scheduled, and this one is about the specific result. No need to get angry, it's not that serious.

Houston #80 jersey ***OFFICIALLY*** ordered

Earning every penny of that extension every week he plays. That ankle must look like he's smuggling a cantaloupe in it after each game.
