Aaron Brooks (1 Viewer)

Does anyone know where A. Brooks will sign? Or has he signed to a team yet?

Anyone expect him to catch on to a team or just call it quits?

Thanks for the info guys!

put a fork in brooks. he's going to join the jeff george school of how to hold a clipboard for a different team every year.

Maybe Detroit? Kitna is 36 this season and all we have behind him are Orlovsky and rookie Drew Stanton. Not the ideal situation

I have been asking for a couple months why don't the Vikings bring him in to get a bit of experience at that position? I think he would be a good fit in Minnesota.

The only (and last) thing I heard about him was the Packers were interested but I believe they denied the rumor. Too bad though, I always liked Brooks, when hes on hes pretty good its just the consistency isnt there and I think he fell off a bit skill wise. Not a bad option as a #2 QB like everyone says.

Bengals | Team looking for No. 2 quarterback

Mark Curnutte, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports the Cincinnati Bengals might have interest in free-agent QB Aaron Brooks (Raiders), now that QB Anthony Wright has signed with the New York Giants.

Any new news??
He visited the Steelers last week and they passed on him. Several months ago the Packers were rumored to have an interest in him but they quickly said there had no intention of bringing him in. That's been it since he got cut by Oakland.

Are there details as to why teams are passing on him? Has he gotten overweight/out of shape, lingering injury of some sort, or just overall attitude?

I think Pittsburgh could be a good fit for him, Ben has been injury prone and if he plays he might do well enough to keep the job.

The Steelers appear set at quarterback with Ben Roethlisberger and Charlie Batch, but that didn't stop them from meeting with free agent Aaron Brooks last week. Steelers director of football operations Kevin Colbert called the get-together "exploratory" for both sides. Brooks played for the Oakland last year but struggled - the Raiders didn't win any of the eight games he started -- and the team didn't pick up the option they had on the veteran's contract. Brooks, 31, had started five seasons for the Saints before falling out of favor in New Orleans. In eight games for the Raiders in 2006, he had just three touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also was sacked 26 times. Pittsburgh appears to be an unlikely destination for Brooks, especially since Batch has proven to be such a reliable backup to Roethlisberger.

"Our roster," Colbert said, "is set for now."

How about decline of skill?
I purposely left that out because I think it would be odd for a QB to physically breakdown at age 30-31. I know that Brooks is a mobile QB, but I never thought of him taking the amount of hits like guys such as McNabb, McNair, etc.

From FF starter two years ago to not being able to catch on with a team? What the hell happened?

He'll catch on soon enough - every year there are camp injuries and veteran QBs find their way on to teams. Who knows what Brooks' financial demands are? It sounds like teams are talking to him so that they know what it will take to sign him should they need to. I think Brooks is trying to land in a situation where he can compete for a job, but that it won't happen until a QB goes down somewhere.

I don't ever remember the shine coming off somebody the way it has with Aaron Brooks. This guy is about 2 seasons removed from being a TOP 10 producing fantasy QB....and his skills just seemed to dry up and go away his last year in New Orleans, not to mention that horrid year in Oakland.

I'd be amazed if he finds a job anywhere after his performance the last 24 months.

Kinda hard to do anything behind those offensive lines. Everybody knows about the Raiders o-line woes last year but the Saints line in 2005 was just as bad.He is a viable NFL backup and I'll be very surprised if he wasn't on a roster pretty soon.

So I was playing Madden and Romo got hurt for a couple weeks. My Auto GM picks up Aaron Brooks. I'm like WTF? Nobody signed this guy?

You are telling me he's better than the poo they are throwing out in KC/Min? Sometimes I just don't get the Nfl.

I am a Chiefs fan and I tend to agree with this ... :lmao:
