Aaron Kampman (1 Viewer)

I drafted Aaron Kampman fairly late in an intitial dynasty draft this season. While other owners were going after guys with high sack totals or name recognition, I was very happy to snag Kampman late due to his consistent tackle numbers. I think his consistent tackle numbers alone last season made him far more valuable than what his numbers actually indicated. He really was flying completely below most people's radar.

That said, I have been absolutely ecstatic with his production thus far. His previous career high in sacks was 5.5 (last season) and yet he was still a top 15 producer. He has 9.5 sacks so far this season! Is this something that is likely to continue?

I haven't watched the Packers this season, so I really have no clue how he has looked, but his production is crazy so he must be doing something right.

I also heard that the Pack signed him to a long term deal, so he is seemingly a top 5 dynasty DE for some time.

I've received a few offers for him, and am considering moving him if the price is right (it will have to be very right, of course). I just don't see how he can maintain this pace, but would like to hear what others think about him going forward (not only this season but for the next 3 or 4 years).

(Got Jared Allen fairly late in the draft and Tamba Hali off of waivers too, I couldn't be happier with my DE's right now - sorry, had to brag :D )

Kampman has always flown under the radar because he's not very flashy but he's developed through a blue-collar work ethic into one of the leagues top all-around defensive ends. Even the Packers were concerned that he'd take his offseason contract and regress, but that certainly has not happened. Both he and Allen appear to be 50-60 solo tackle guys with 10-12 sacks, top 5 DEs. And to think, I couldn't give Allen away in trades this offseason.

These two guys are great examples of dynasty gems that lend credence to the notion of bypassing defensive linemen for the most part in initial drafts. Over the last few years I've been able to pick up Umenyiora, Allen, Burgess and Cole during the season/offseason with little to no fanfare while the "name" guys continue to get all of the attention.

So, what are your expectations for him over the remainder of the season? I suspecte the tackles will always be there.

But do you think he'll continue to lead the league in sacks? Or settle down some and finish with 13 or 14? (I suppose he could conceivably do both, but probably not likely).
