Aaron Rodgers Fumble in Endzone VS Bills (1 Viewer)

AIKENS BACON

Any reason this is not being scored a fumble by Rodgers? He threw 2 picks & he fumbled. In our league these are scored as (-3) for each, so he should have (-9) total points. The boxscore for ESPN is not recording it as a fumble.

Ok, I think I get it....they are not scoring it as a fumble "lost"....I think it should since they had to give the ball to the Bills.....

um no, Eddie lacy recovered the fumble, however it was in the endzone and ruled a safety because you cannot advance a fumble in the last two minutes of the game

So it wasnt a lost fumble

This. The fumble itself was recovered by a teammate so not lost, the rule dictated the next result of a safety once Lacy recovered.

If someone had kicked the ball out of the endzone would it still be a safety or would it be ruled a touchback?

If GB kicked it out of the endzone it would have been a safety.

If BUF had kicked it out of the endzone...not sure.

Still be a safety. The ball was fumbled by GB, possession had not changed hands, so if it went out of GB's end zone then it would be a safety.

It WOULD still be a safety but they way it was explained yesterday was because, by rule, the ball can not be advanced under the circumstances and is a dead ball where it lands. So any kicking by either team after it hits the ground is moot. Landed in the end zone and is a safety and that is the end of the play.

If you play in IDP, that's why you won't get a tackle by Bradham on that after Lacy picked it up and then it got fumbled away again.

I think Aaron Rodgers could of advanced it if he recovered it

Its not a dead ball where it lands. Could have been a td if recovered by the Bills, and it could have been recovered and advanced by Rogers.

This is correct. It became a dead ball when Lacy gained possession, not when it landed in the endzone.

The play is equivalent to Eddie Lacy falling on the ball in the end zone and getting tackled there. Ball fumbled, recovered by Lacy, down in the end zone, safety to the Bills. Rodgers gets a fumble (but not a fumble lost), Lacy gets an offensive fumble recovery, the Bills D gets a forced fumble and a safety.
