Aaron Rodgers Out for the season (1 Viewer)

Thats gotta be a wakeup call for Packers fans- nothing against Rogers but you got a guy that hasnt missed a game in 25 years and finally get dinged up enough that his big money successor comes in- and doesnt last a half. Brett Favre is a remarkable guy, lets just leave it at that.

Hi Folks,

More bad news out of Green Bay. Backup QB Aaron Rodgers is out for the year.

Link: http://www.packers.com/news/stories/2006/11/20/1/

Clipped from the Mike Spofford article:

"Unfortunately for backup quarterback Aaron Rodgers, his first extended action in

2006 turned out to be his last this season.

Rodgers broke his left foot during Sunday's game against New England and is out

for the season, Head Coach Mike McCarthy said on Monday."

[[[[[[[[[[[[[ OUR VIEW ]]]]]]]]]]]]]

Ouch. Obviously, this puts the pressure on Brett Favre to return from the elbow /

wrist injuries that knocked him out of the game Sunday. If you've followed football

for any amount of time, you know it's unwise to bet against Favre being ready to

start.

Howewever, if Favre was unable to go we'd likely see rookie Harry Ingle Martin IV

(he goes by Ingle) from Furman. Martin is listed as the #3 QB behind Favre and

Rodgers. For more than you ever wanted to know on Martin, check this link

http://www.packers.com/team/players/martin_ingle/

Obviously, we'll stay on the Favre situation for you this week.

Have a great Monday and we'll keep the content flowing for you.

ehhh they can sorta excuse or understand a broken foot. I could see them whining about muscle pulls and such but Brett's not handing his cape to his successor, his successor will be human unfortunately.Rodgers was awful just awful. How horrible it must be to sit with that game on your conscience for an offseason. I'm real curious about Ingle, alot of draft guys liked Martin.

This critcism of Rodgers has had me laughing all day. I heard it this morning on the radio and have come to the conclusion that people just have no clue what in the hell they are talking about.1- They started 3 rookies on the O-Line on Sunday, and this is Wells © first year starting.

2- They had ZERO running game. ZERO! Did I mention the had no running game?

3- The Packer QB's got sacked 4 times and totalled a whopping 43yds on the ground.

4- When a Defense knows you can't run, knows you can't block, especially a team like NE they are teeing off all day and doing what they please.

Yet Rodgers stinks.... :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I'm not saying he's a great Qb, can be a great QB, or hell even a good QB, what I'm saying is how in the blue hell can you judge his performance on one half of play with the team he had around him yesterday????

I love listening to the clowns already comparing him to Randy Wright.

Uncanny. This is just like "Unbreakable" with Favre as Bruce Willis and Aaron Rodgers as Mr. Glass.

Hey, don't pick on Randy Wright, I graduated HS with the guy.He was a great H.S. and college QB, but no one should have expected him to make a great or even good NFL QB.

Let me ask you...Do you think that Rodgers couldn't complete a pass because there was no running game, or that the running game was bad because Rodgers can't complete a pass.

Being that the Packers have had little trouble running the football this season, I'm inclined to believe it was Rodgers who is at fault.

Certainly the jury is still out on him until he is a habitual starter, but he has yet to look halfway decent as a Quarterback in practice, pre-season or the regular season.

Those guys have started all year except for their heralded pick Colledge whom has done quite well recently. Yeah the pats took away the run, nice to make it look like 3 different points amidst your mere 4.4 sacks in a game stinks but it's not horrible, ask Carr.

When all a QB can do is roll out and throw to the TE that's pretty pathetic.

Did you even watch the game? Tell me something he did well.

I did not see the game, but Favre was 5-15 and Rodgers 4-12. So, neither could complete a pass, and the running game didn't work when either of them was at QB.

I agree it's silly to throw Rodgers under the bus and call him a bust etc. However, he did not look good yesterday Mr. Pack. Neither did Favre for what it's worth. Both looked pathetic against a secondary that was ripe for the picking. I thought it was very telling that McCarthy stopped throwing the ball with a lot of time left in the game. Obviously the Packers weren't going to win the game, but most coaches (if not the vast majority) would at least try and mount a scoring drive to avoid the embarrassment of being shut out. But McCarthy showed little faith in Rodgers' ability to do anything other than hand off. Again, I think it's premature to write Rodgers off but I thought that was very telling about how McCarthy feels about him at the present time.

I would agree that he was. I do think it's silly to write him off after that game or based on the extremely limited work we've seen from him thus far. And I'm not referring to you with that comment.

Its the SAME offensive line that Favre had last week (same rookies) and he threw for over 300 yards!!! This week Favre played for about a quarter and threw for 75 yards while Rogers threw for less than half that in almost 3 quarters. He ain't even close to being ready which is sad after 1.5 years.

Ingle will surprise people - next year. He's not ready but he might be a lot better than Rogers after a full off season in the weight room and 12 full months with the play book.

He has one thing Rogers doesn't have. The desire to win the position.

What Rogers must have missed. Thompson guaranteed that they would draft a QB EVERY year from now on to compete for the QB position. He's not going to get handed the position.

Rodgers looked good in preseason. It could have been a bad game/half.Drafting one every year doesn't do much if they don't get any experience. My prob with having Brett such a trooper is the young guys don't get any experience. It's like a backhanded curse to his great injury history or lack of it. In the least, IMO, the pack should put in Rodgers or Ingle if the game is "over" in the 4th. I don't recall where I read it but I thought I read Brett didn't like that and takes it as an accomplishment to finish the game. It made sense, goes along with his mentality of playing thru anything and comebacks and all but....it's a very tricky situation. There were Brett's not going to teach the youngsters stories when Brett really meant it's not my job but if they ask I'll lend a hand. It's hard to tell what goes on behind the scenes but IMO the Pack either have to find Rodgers some time somehow or you'll have some well travelled vet like Bledsoe or Collins there next year. I'm not a big believer in there being many Phillip Rivers out there that seem to do well with next to no NFL experience. I believe they have to take their lumps. It's very tricky

It was sad as a Golden Bear to watch Rodgers go 4-for-21 and claim a foot injury going out. I watched this game while flipping back and forth and playing my play-predicting game on my cell phone. The only person in more pain than Rodgers was Favre watching him.

True. It took Hasselback a lot of years and another team before he figured out the difference between pre-season and the regular season. He was an AWESOME and I mean AWESOME pre-season QB with Green Bay.

FYI:

The Packers made phone calls to some free agent QBs today. Such future stars as JT O'Sullivan, VanPelt, and Bouman

That's just to add depth & some NFL experience behind Martin with Rodgers being out for the year. Favre will play next week.

I agree. I am trying to figure out what this says about Ingle. I think the Packers like him. But, handing Ingle the reins if Favre was to be injured might be asking too much.

Anyone think a broken foot might have contributed to his poor play? Rumor I heard was he broke it on one of the first plays.

I say bring on.........
