Aaron Rodgers Owners (1 Viewer)

Preface: I know there is a Rodgers = Rob Johnson? thread but that is more about real football and why Rodgers takes sacks. I want to discuss fantasy prospects for the rest of this year. So with that said....

Aaron Rodgers has been terrific this year as a fantasy QB, putting up stats that place him at or near the top of most fantasy football leagues' QB stats. He has a very nice schedule to finish and lots of targets in Driver, Jennings, Jones, and Finley. Plus he can put up some extra points by running.

However, he seems to be getting more dinged up by the game since he's taking so many sacks. I am getting nervous about his ability to stay healthy enough to play at a high level or even to just be able to play, period. Also, bad weather is lurking in GB and I think that will put a small crimp in the passing game.

Are any of you thinking of trying to move him and see if you can fetch a Brees, Peyton, or Brady in his stead? Of course, with Brees and Peyton the concerns are them sitting during part of the FF playoffs.

Yes. I offered Rodgers/Jacobs for Brees and a throw in. It was declined. Although I do think that the Pack will get this thing figured out as well. I just think Brees will score more than AR in the remaining games. So, nervous? Not too terribly, but I am open to trading him.

WOW-I would not trade Rodgers for Brees in a dynasty or redraft.

Rodgers was the #2 Fantasy Qb last year and is the #1 this year.

no need to be nervous. rodgers will continue to get hit, but unless he sustains a serious injury or the teams record drops well below 500, he will stay in the starting lineup. he played through a pretty bad shoulder injury last year and still played at a very high level. so whether or not the packers have success, dont trade rodgers because he will continue putting up these numbers.

I'm not concerned at all right now. One thing I like about him is that he's tough and plays hurt (and does it well) even going back to last season. Hasn't missed a game yet. I also benched Romo and went with Rodgers last year during the FF playoffs and he carried me to a championship. I don't like seeing him sacked this much, that's for sure, but I'm not going to start making any moves until he starts missing games because of it.

Well, the injury risk (from all the hits he's taking) is the only reason. I can realistically see him getting knocked out of a game for a series here or there. Brees can be statue back there and feel pretty safe (not that he is mind you, just that he can be). If Rodgers stays healthy I can see him and Brees being a wash. I could go into more of the thought process behind it based on my roster, but that's not what this is about. Don't get me wrong, I DO still like Rodgers very much.

I've found that's it's difficult to trade one stud QB for another without sacrificing value on the back-end, as FF coaches tend to become attached to the QB who has (presumably) led them to the cusp of the playoffs.

As a Cowboy fan-I think he is a great start this week.

Will he get sacked by the Cowboys- yeah you bet. However.....

1)Will this be a high scoring game? Very likely. I really see Dallas opening up a lead that will force GB into passing a lot to stay with them.

2) Will GB have more success passing then running on Dallas? Again very likely.

3) If he is sacked a lot-it just increases the need to pass.

I see him putting up 280-320 yards and 2-3 scores.

Some great comments by all of you. This post shows me why most ff owners would not make good NFL GM's....LOL.

Ironically, I think he'll do well for a somewhat opposite reason. I'm thinking GB wins this game outright. If they hope to save (or take anything away from) this season, this is the game they must win. Prospects were high for the Pack going in, and now there is a ton of disappointment. I'm not hating your Cowboys, and I think they are a good team, but they are prone to letdowns. 31-27 Pack. Should be as entertaining as the Pats/Colts game in my opinion.

Anyone considering shipping him off for Kurt warner? Warner has the best playoff sched and there's probably teams like me that have clinched with Rodgers at the helm so far.

But, you obviously have so much knowladge to see our flaws. How's working in the NFL going these days?
Easy boys..easy.Rodgers has proven himself a stud. The pack (and fantasy owners as well) should stay on the rodgers train. And for those of you not convinced... after the monster game he puts up this weekend...you'll be looking hard for a seat!!! All aboard!!!!!!!Bill

I'm not at all nervous as an owner of Aaron Rodgers in two different leagues.

A high majority of his sacks are wrestling moves where the D-lineman grabs, and holds him and then they fall down together; very few of these sacks are hard hits. If these sacks were a result of a linebacker coming in free and blindsiding him with a full-speed teeth-chattering tackle then I would be worried.

Especially compared to when I was able to draft him he is $.

That's a problem though. Once he starts missing games, it is way too late to get value for him. I would be very unwilling to trade for a guy that is hurt, or at least give up a meaningful/healthy player for him.I gotta say, he's well on his way to missing time. I don't care how tough you are, you get hit this many times, it will catch up to you.Trading him now might not be a bad idea. To me, a lot more risk in holding him.

1138 yards and 10 TDs in his 4 home games in Nov and Dec last year. I can live with that.

To me, it is the same with Roethlisberger.

Compared with the hits that David Carr took for nearly all of his sacks while in Houston, these guys are not taking hits with their sacks.

LOL as I said ff owners and I include myself in that! I wish I had Rodgers or a top QB, I am just limping around with Garrard, Warner, and Cutler. In the championship game this week in FFOC and then on to the Vegas bracket but NO NFL here!Good luck this week bro and if ya trade Rogers as well. Wish we could trade, NOT that I would a top fantasy QB :lmao:

Not that anyone cares, but I just traded Rodgers for Peyton (other players were involved). Rodgers was the #1 overall scorer in my league and it was hard to trade him away, but I just felt Peyton was a little "safer." Whether or not that was a good decision will play itself out...

In my money keep-8 league, I own both Rodgers and Philip Rivers. I've had nibbles for my back-up Rivers, but I like having that much QB insurance behind Rodgers.

this is the way I have felt all season. He is getting sacked a lot but no big hits. I remember watching carr get rocked every couple drop backs. Rodgers pocket presence may not be good but he is good enough to not take too many big hits.

not after the colts win this weekend and peyton plays about 2 quarters each in weeks 15 and 16!!

I am concerned and it has lead to me rostering 3 QBs instead of the usual 2. I will ride Rodgers until I can't, at which point I will rotate the other two based on match-up...

I remember two games in particular this year where Rodgers took a few bone-rattling hits... :horns: :banned:In general though, I've been trolling to buy Rodgers in a lot of leagues lately. In the middle of a small re-build in one of my leagues, and just dealt T. Brady and WR Roy Williams for Rodgers and MB3. Trying to get younger without giving up too much at QB1, so that seemed like a reasonable way of doing it while getting a bit more depth at RB. I still have Rodgers as a top-five QB in the NFL for quite a while...so I guess you can put me in the camp that isn't terribly worried about him going forward.
