Could he get to Peyton Manning? He may be worth a 1 year deal if he is a short term upgrade.jsharlan said:The media should clarify better, He said he wants to play for the Texans, the Texans have never said they want him. It would have been awesome 2 years ago, but I think bringing him in now will only stunt the development of Connor Barwin, who is both younger and cheaper.
link?I don't think he's said this. It's assumed he'd be interested in playing there b/c he lives an hour away and it would let him stay close to his family.jsharlan said:He said he wants to play for the Texans

Like I said. Still hasn't said whether he wants to play or not. Everyone knows that's the best fit for him, but I'm not sure he's campaigning for them to sign him.If Buffalo defensive end Aaron Schobel decides to play a 10th season and gains his release from the Bills, Houston is his destination of choice.
this was your quote:“If I were a free agent and I could choose a team, it would be the Texans, without a doubt,” Schobel, 32, said Monday from his home in Columbus. "
“And the Texans have a chance to be real good. They’d make the most sense. Houston would be the best spot for me.”
You simply asked if he said he wanted to play for the Texans, not if he's decided to play or not. I was saying he's expressed Houston as his top choice to the media, where Houston hasn't come out and said they want him. I can see how he sees it as a good fit for him personally, I just dont think its a good fit for the team. Not that I wouldn't cheer for him, I just am looking at it from a personnel aspect.
I was focusing more on the "wants to play" part than the "for the Texans" part. Either way, I think they'd be silly not to take him if he's interested in playing another year.He said he wants to play for the Texans
The Ravens play about equal parts 4-3, 3-4 and the old 46 defense these days. Its why Suggs keeps getting labeled a DE by MFL. It is also why Kelly Gregg was number 6 and Haloti Ngata was number 26 overall in the IDP Survivor scoring. Pretty hard to have two DT's in the top 26 unless they were on the field together most of the time. They do line up most if not all of their outside lbs as De's from time to time. But it is pretty rare to see the Ravens lined up in anything less then a four man front, unless they are playing prevent defense. All that being said, i don't think Schoebel is gonna end up here.Im guessin the Patriots, Ravens and other 3-4 units really are longshots. Pretty sure Schobel would want a 4-3 destination if he plays again.Homerism aside, the Ravens would be stupid not to pursue him. With Kindle down (not saying he plays the same position) the Ravens badly need another pass rusher. That's just speculation for me though.
Pretty interesting seeing an argument support by facts around here. Quite refreshing actually. The Ravens play about equal parts 4-3, 3-4 and the old 46 defense these days. Do you think Barwin will be anything besides a nickel package guy w/o Schobel? If the Texans do get Schobel, does that essentially make Conner Barwin worthless for 2010 FF?
That's gonna hurt my team in Balanced 1SugarNuts said:Bummer... Was hoping for one more solid year from him...
