AC/DC's Malcolm Young is ''too sick'' to perform live with the band anymore.

The 61-year-old guitarist, who founded the Australian rock group with his brother Angus in the 1970s, is said to be seriously ill, sparking rumours the band could split after 41 years.

AC/DC are ending their 41 year career on a terribly sad note.

Plans were underway for a new studio album, their first since 2008's monumental Black Ice, and a '40th Anniversary' world tour, 40 huge shows across the globe.

More than a month ago, founding member, rhythm guitarist, co-producer and co-songwriter Malcolm Young had a stroke, which left a blood clot on his brain.

When AC/DC reunited at the start of April to begin a month of rehearsals, in the lead-up to new album recording sessions, Malcolm discovered he couldn't play. At least, he couldn't play like he used to play.

Nothing has been officially confirmed, as of this writing, but friends and family members have been discussing what happened to Malcolm for the past couple of weeks. The blood clot, resulting from the stroke, is believed to be why Malcolm couldn't keep working.

Although friends have described Malcolm's condition as serious, it doesn't mean he won't recover. People do get better after strokes, and people do recover lost skills.

But friends and family of band members believe the decision was made last week to call it quits.
T&P to Malcolm and the rest of the Young clan...

After forty years of life dedicated to AC/DC, guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young is taking a break from the band due to ill health. Malcolm would like to thank the groups diehard legions of fans worldwide for their never-ending love and support. In light of this news, AC/DC asks that Malcolm and his familys privacy be respected during this time. The band will continue to make music.
So....bad news but maybe good news?

I started following this story yesterday when the rumors first started. Was hoping for a better ending but the ACDC facebook page announced that he is sick and in fact "taking a break from the band". They said the band would still make music but we'll see. They were supposed to be in studio in a few weeks

End of an era and a big part of my young life. One of my favorite bands.

Good luck Malcolm!

AC/DC Drummer Accused in Murder for Hire plot

The 60-year-old drummer for Australian rock band AC/DC was accused Thursday of trying to arrange two killings as well as possession of drugs. Phil Rudd made a brief appearance at the Tauranga District Court in his adopted home of New Zealand and was charged with attempting to "procure murder," which carries a maximum prison term of 10 years.

He was released on bail. One of the conditions is that he must not have any contact with anyone involved in the alleged plot. The Bay of Plenty Times newspaper reported that the Australian-born Rudd was accused of trying to hire a hit man to carry out the two killings. Rudd and the other members of AC/DC were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003 in Cleveland. AC/DC's hits include "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" and "Highway to Hell." The band was due to release the "Rock or Bust" album next month and had planned a world tour next year. It was unclear whether Thursday's events would affect those plans.

And Simon Wright replace Phil Rudd the first time (Slade replaced Wright) And I think Rudd isn't that original drummer either.

Rudd thought he was in the clear until the detective said "I put the finger on you". At that point Rudd's hopes for freedom were shot down in flames.
