Adam Schefter Expects Bush To Start For Saints (1 Viewer)

I know there's about a million Saints' RB threads and I apologize for creating a new one but I thought this might be worthy of its own thread since there's a lot of talk about what's going to happen in the NO backfield this week. This is a Tweet from Adam Schefter:

Adam_SchefterReggie Bush is who I'm expecting. RT @EBMD14: @Adam_Schefter Who's starting at RB for New Orleans?

Should be interesting. I'm considering inserting Reggie as my RB#2 over K. Smith (I'm playing CJ vs NYJ as well). If he gets 20 touches I think he'll do some damage - at least 100 combined yrds and a touchdown. I'm not in a ppr league, but if I'm ever going to start Reggie I suppose this would be the week. If he produces I'll be looking to sell high. Thanks for the info....

Yeah, I have a comment...

I'm packaging my Thomas/Hamilton/Bell to the Bush owner and see what I can haul in. I'm calling it quits with the Saints RB. Too much of a headache.

Does anyone like Schefter?
HUGE fan. Dude works his and off and is passionate about his work. He's clear and concise and knows the league inside and out.
Jumping ships from the "NFL NETWORK" to the circus that espn is, i do not know how passionate that is.
Can't blame a guy for getting more money, and moving to a network that has much greater exposure, and still getting to do the work he loves.

I assume that by "start" he means getting more touches than any of the other Saints backs.

In two PPR leagues, and if ever there was a week to start Reggie...this is it, but in one league it means using him over Ronnie Brown, in the other league it means sitting Ray Rice for him.

Not sure I can do that in either case.

Not sure I understand this quote. Saints need a pounder to keep the D's honest. Bush is not that type of back. The Thomas/Hamilton combo will have more carries than bush IMO

I have a question regarding Bush's use. He doesn't seem like an every down back. So, he may "start", but it sounds like we'll see just as much Hamilton and maybe Thomas. I am intrigued by reports of Hamilton's increased role. I also read something about Thomas still wearing a "big brace." All of these reports concerning Bush, Hamilton, and Thomas have got me confused enough that I'm not really sure what to expect or who to start (although, if I was a Bush owner, I would undoubtedly start him).

I think Bush receives the most touches of any Saints' RB this week - and that's a departure from what the team has shown it wants to do this season. The plan going into the season was to have a starter at RB (expected to be Thomas) with Bush being used as the complementary/third-down RB. Even after Thomas got hurt, they still put that plan in motion with Bell as the starter and Bush in the complementary role. Bell had 45 rushing attempts in the first two games compared to only 17 for Bush. However, this week with Bell out and Thomas apparently still not healthy, I think we see Bush get more work than he previously has gotten. I think the Hamilton talk is just that - talk. I think Bush gets 12-15 carries and a heavy dose of targets in the passing game.

Just my two cents.

I don't think you will see much difference from Bush's FF points whether he starts or not.

If ALL the RB's were healthy then the way Payton gameplans Bush could "start" even then, to the extent that means a HB is in for the first play. But Bush still isn't doing much as a runner, Payton won't be waiting for him anymore in that regard, even with that nice little (and somewhat surprising 19 yard TD jaunt last week).

PT is an uncertainty because he has or had a brace. Who knows what that does to him. Payton has gone for the power RB game all the way, and I think Hamilton can fill the Bell roll. In fact Hamilton had a terrific preseason game where he did just that. If PT plays and doesn't produce straight off then don't be surprised to see Hamilton come in and do a good Bell imitation, and he can do it.

I would start Bush if you ordinarily start Bush, not if you don't. I wouldn't start PT until we see how he is (I wouldn't be surprised if he has a good game, but who knows really); and I would not be surprised if Hamilton has a great game, but it's purely a question of how PT is health-wise and how he runs.

Hamilton has been a training camp name in NO with upside for 2 years now.
