Adam West dead at 88 (1 Viewer)

I thought we were still talking about Julie Newmar  :P
Can't think about Newmar without flashing back to an old ep of Columbo where she played the trophy wife of an old rich guy who got offed. She's doing yoga on the veranda when the detective comes to interrogate her and she just keeps doing her thing. It looked like Falk was as turned on as viewers were. Television's first yogapants moment.

Can you find the clip?

Yes AW was part of my childhood, he encouraged in me the idea I could be a hero, which occasionally took me into some random acts of daring-do. Thanks, Batman.

My wife lived in his neighborhood as a kid. In Pacific Palisades. Back in the 70s, he'd put on the costume for Halloween every year, answer the front door himself and hand out candy. Great guy.

Holy comeback, Batman! Adam West talks 50 years as the Caped Crusader

BOFF! ZOWIE! KAPOW! It’s been 50 years since Adam West first slipped on the Bruce Wayne's cowl and cape for the legendarily wacky Batman TV show and exponentially wackier movie. For the latest issue of Empire (on sale now), we spoke to the sonorously-voiced West about his experiences as the legendarily cartoonish superhero, and his return to the character – aged 88 – in the animated movie Batman: Return Of The Caped Crusaders.

“I thought, ‘My God, it’s about time you guys called me up!’” says West about being approached for the project. He admits, jokingly, that it “took a little time” to get back into character. "About 20 seconds!”

The interview also delves into the explosion of fame that West and his sidekick co-star, Burt Ward, enjoyed during their ‘60s peak. “In a sense, I took advantage of it,” West says, adding conspiratorially, “with all of the human pleasures that one could accrue”. Ward has said that he and his co-star were “sexual vampires” – especially during the personal appearances they made in costume at weekends, where he claims women were banging on their windows while they were in bed with other women.

Be sure to pick up a copy of the latest issue of Empire, where the full interview covers such golden anecdotes as Adam West and Frank Gorshin (aka The Riddler) being asked to leave a Los Angeles orgy for talking in character.

I enjoyed the animated Batman he did last year, there is supposed to be a sequel this year, I hope they finished it or came close.

Saw a funny tweet that suggested that all of the other guys who've played Batman should attend his funeral like former Presidents do for one of their own.

One of my favorite episodes of Batman TAS is an early episode when they had West guest star as the Gray Ghost, Bruce Wayne's childhood hero. I always envisioned it as the tale of Adam West's life, supremely underappreciated actor, pigeon holed to where he can't get work, until finally the latter years when the combination of nostalgia and nerdy things becoming cool caused people to finally appreciate him.
