Add/Drop and Waiver Wire wonderment thread: Do you still own Domingo Santana? (2 Viewers)

If Rubby has a couple of good outings vs. the Dodgers and Rockies (at home) I may take him for a spin in the Mets game before the All Star break then see where his spot in the rotation falls going forward. I'm not going down that well until he shows it a couple of times though. No matter what happens tomorrow, I'm not holding it against him though.
No doubt, just trying to identify someone with really big upside, as opposed to the Jesse Hahns and Chase Andersons of the world who I think are decent, safe pickups, but won't be game-changers.
Matt Cain, Matt Moore and Kevin Gausman all starting tomorrow if any are available. Jose Fernandez too, but cant imagine he's available in any league.

Please rank who you would draft first in 2016

JD Martinez

Jake Arrieta

Carlos Correa

Matt Carpenter

We've got 7 starting pitcher slots, and most weeks I use one slot to tail the Phillies / Brewers.

For example, I noticed next week Carlos Frias is free to pick up and he is getting two starts. One vs the Phillies AND one vs the Brewers. I know the risk is that he is just bad but these types of plays tend to work out. So I grabbed him 2 days ago. And then he immediately comes up with back problems and is questionable for his next start.

Injuries brutalizing my roster as I head into the break. Jaimie Garcia, Steven Souza, Corey Dickerson, Travis D'Arnaud, and now it looks like Starling Marte is headed to the DL. Really hurting for outfield right now to plug the gaps. Starting JD Martinez, Coghlan, Odubel Herrera, Chris Young and Brandon Moss.We start 5 OF, so waivers have been picked clean at that position. Any thoughts on Aaron Hicks? He seems to have a good pedigree. Now has 3 HR and 7 SB in just over 100 ABs, but playing time could be an issue?

Jarrod Dyson should get some ABs with Gordon hurt. He's terrible but will provide some steals.

Dyson picked up a few days ago. Things are that desperate.

10 team 5x5 H2H. Will be in first place by 2ish games heading into the break. Any tips on strengthening the roster for the stretch run?

C - Posey
1B - Vogt ©, Hosmer
2B - Dozier, Prado (3B)
3B - Valbuena (2B)
SS - Bogaerts (3B), Flores
OF - Cespedes, Trout, Heyward, Puig, Turner, Odor, Holt (2B, 3B), Ortiz
SP - Lynn, McCullers, Richards, Shields, Tanaka, Ventura, Wood (RP)
RP - Casilla, Gregerson, Grilli, Ramos, Axford

Minors - Kang (SS), Seager (SS), Nola (SP)

I think you need help at 1b. I would try to deal an of, if possible. Vogt could probably net a good return since he is like a top 5 C so far and you don't need him.

Also, am being ######ed? Who is Ortiz who is eligible for of?

Sorry, it's Papi.. eligible at DH. We have a U position. I should've clarified.

Appreciate the help

After his 2 HRs in Safeco tonight, C.J. Cron is now 11-for-18 with 2 2B, 3 HR and 10 RBI in his last four games.

A decent post-hype sleeper. Dunno if he'll keep making contact but his power is legit.

His plate discipline still seems bad.
He's been good about avoiding strikeouts. Doesn't walk much though. Putting the ball in play all the time may not be the optimum strategy for a 6'4, 235 lb. DH.

When is not putting the ball in play an optimum strategy?

I think he means that trying to be a slap hitter when you're there to hit for power isn't a good career move.

Jorge Soler is on my wire. Awful plate discipline this year, which uncharacteristic for him, but still hitting the ball hard. Seems like he is having some trouble adjusting to pitchers giving him more offspeed stuff.

Second-half comeback or wait til next year?

Also, anyone think that Pujols should be sold high, or is he good enough to know who he is now and how to continue this approach, so that he can actually sustain this power rate all season?

I'd definitely sell high on Pujols and pick up Soler.
Not sure you will get much for him though. His name just conjures up old-man who used to be super awesome, now is just OK. Even if he does lead the league in HR, not sure the return will be there.
This is how my leaguemates view him. It's a very active league as far as trades are concerned and no one has even mentioned him. I'm just going to continue to ride it out and see what he does.

I could use some objective advice

Modified keeper h2h league. Im in second place at 9-5, one game back. Trade deadline is a week from today.

There was a flurry of trades the other day from teams out of it. The teams in it are all stronger now.

I have been taking with the Felix owner. I offered his choice of Buxton (14th round), Lindor (21st round) or Darvish (20th round) and my second rounder gor Felix and Pujols.

He says he wants a first. I don't see him getting it, especially with all that went on the other day.

Give it to him or move on

Assume I lose nothing giving one of those keeper options.

Tried to trade dickerson for Bautista in a keeper league where Bautista contract expires this year and the guy was insulted. I guess dickerson had no value right now?
