Whats their plan? I assumed they just sent him down to limit his innings this year.Astros dicking around with McCullers is putting a wrench in my playoff run here
I got tired of it and dumped him. He cleared waivers, so I may be able to add him again if there's some clarity. Maybe try the same?Astros dicking around with McCullers is putting a wrench in my playoff run here
You expecting to find anyone with a better shot of giving you 6+ IP and over a K per inning on your waiver wire?but probably look somewhere else for SP down the stretch in redrafts.
he was also supposedly back last weekendThey did, supposedly back next weekend.Whats their plan? I assumed they just sent him down to limit his innings this year.Astros dicking around with McCullers is putting a wrench in my playoff run here
I doubt he'll give you 6+ IP from here on out. We're coming up on September and there will be streaming matchups available. You expecting to find anyone with a better shot of giving you 6+ IP and over a K per inning on your waiver wire?but probably look somewhere else for SP down the stretch in redrafts.
Obviously depends on the league, but I've found Jimmy Nelson, Patrick Corbin, Raisel Iglesias, and Ivan Nova over the last week or two in different leagues. Entirely possible any number of them are gone in a week if another option pops up, or they suck, though. All things being equal I'd rather have McCullers, but (at this point in the season) availability becomes more important in a lot of cases so I don't think waiting for those IP's is the right move. Every league (and team) is different, so there will certainly be some exceptions, but generally speaking a guy like him is more of a pain than he's worth. You expecting to find anyone with a better shot of giving you 6+ IP and over a K per inning on your waiver wire?but probably look somewhere else for SP down the stretch in redrafts.
Yeah, between his likely IP limit and expanding rosters I'd think Houston will be looking for reasons to pull him after 4-5 innings. All bets are off if it's do or die the final week or two and he's been pitching well, but we're a ways away from that.I doubt he'll give you 6+ IP from here on out. H2H should be self explanatory, at least if you have to set your lineup each week on Monday. Can't start him if I don't know if he'll pitch. Roto is a bit different - you've gotta consider the size of bench, your IP limit pace, categories in which you can still catch others, other things I'm sure.![]()
Not sure why McCullers is any less of an option than those guys. I have Corbin and Nelson on my team, and they both had 1 terrible, 1 decent, and 1 good start in the past 2 weeks.

(5 hrs ago) The Astros will call up pitcher Lance McCullers in order to start Sunday's game against the Dodgers, the team announced.
McCullers was demoted in early August after posting a 3.17 ERA over 76 2/3 innings this season. With McCullers starting Sunday, the team will turn to pitchers Mike Fiers on Friday and Scott Kazmir on Saturday
Still not buying it. None of my league mates have either. And it's a pretty deep league.Shaw?
I've used Valencia more than I've wanted to, but he's been mildly effective for a waiver wire play. Can't usually find power out there and he obviously offers it. Try not to start him vs. righties even when he's starting against them, but like most at this point in the season I'm without alternatives some days.Picked up Danny Valencia to fill in for Aaron Hicks who was filling in for Steven Souza.
Wow...that's really changed since I first added him in July. Helps explain why Oakland has been using him so frequently too. He's #actually hitting better against righties this year.![]()
Plugged Valencia in for the first time and he's out with a hammy. Welcome to the team, Eddie Rosario.Picked up Danny Valencia to fill in for Aaron Hicks who was filling in for Steven Souza.
pitched pretty well today7 IP, 8 K, 2.57 ERA, 1.14 WHIPI've been wrong about everything else this year so start McCullers with confidence.
Owner in my league who had him just dropped him this morning. I assumed there was an injury or something, but apparently he's just stupid.Grab the #### out of Kris Medlen in all formats.
DE-FENSE! *clap* *clap*I'm not overly excited about Medlen. Certainly worth a pick up though
So that's probably three more starts with short pitch counts. That's fine for Medlen and the Royals but not so much for fantasy owners.Medlen had a multi-inning stint on Thursday. Apparently the plan is to get him up to 100 pitches, he was at 70 yesterday.
