Add/Drop and Waiver Wire wonderment thread: Do you still own Domingo Santana? (1 Viewer)

Thoughts on Chris Heisey? Will get Bruce's ABs. Seems to be running more. Has some pop. Been hitting leadoff, but where will he go when Hamilton comes back?
He will likely bat 6th. Has always been a better pinch hitter than producer when given substantial ABs. Potential for 20hr 10sb pace while starting with lowish BA/OBP

Will he platoon with Schumaker though?

Both are somewhat equal so far this year, but for the rest of the year, would you rather have Gio Gonzalez or Shelby Miller?

I don't think so. Heisey is likely to always be a reverse splits hitter with his approach so even if they wanted to split those 2 I wouldn't expect him to only face lefties. Heisey's not a 162 game guy like Bruce but I think Skip gets as much of his PT from resting Ludwick as he does playing for Heisey. Plus there is the always sorta-injured but playing 2nd base spot Skip could get ABs at which is it's own topic.

Gio is a much better pitcher than Shelby IMO. With his peripherals being what they are, I feel like Miller is about to run into a brick wall.

That's what I'm thinking but wanted confirmation from someone else other than my own thoughts. Thanks everyone.

More likely that Shelby's peripherals improve than him running into a brick wall, IMO, but I'd still go with Gio in the re-draft.

Brad Peacock is probably a guy to keep an eye on if you need guys to stream this summer. Had his moments last year and he pitched very well versus a really hot hitting Tigers team tonight, only Miggy and VMart got to him and the homer VMart hit was neck high.

Juan Francisco worth thinkng about?
I wouldn't, his at bats are going away soon with Lind back tomorrow and Lawrie likely returning to 3B on Friday.
Not sure how Lawrie doesn't find himself at 2B
Likely because he played 3 games there and is now missing the next 4 with a hamstring issue. Also he made a "I'm a third baseman" comment to the media.

I've been using him for the past week or so, and I'll hold a for a little bit longer in daily leagues. I'm a sucker for cheap pop, and I think he's worth hanging on to in case Lind has a setback or they decide to move Lawrie to 2nd. If he's in TOR's lineup, I want him in mine. Well, until he goes into a slump, which can happen at any time with him.

His walk rate has gone up now for 4 straight years, and is now at a very useful 11.8%. He's seen a massive drop in swinging at pitches out of the zone, and a slight drop in swinging strike rate. At 27, he's still young enough that he might be improving.

I'm actually pretty pissed that the Braves let him go. They hitched their wagon to Chris freakin' Johnson, when that Francisco/Johnson platoon could be huge for them about now.

1 - pretty sure he's still going to have to run to 1st base, while batting, regardless of what defensive position he's playing.

2 - Because what Brett says to the media is going to dictate what John Gibbons scribbles onto his lineup card?

The thought is the injury came from the sharper cuts/turns from playing a position he isn't used to/comfortable with.

I love the way Francisco is hitting and would love to see him stay in the lineup, I'm just telling you once Lawrie and Lind are both healthy, he will not see a ton of playing time.

I'm not breaking the FAAB bank on Odor. He's very young and only has a half season above A ball. At this stage of his career, he doesn't project to have either outstanding power or speed. I see him as a 10/15 guy batting near the bottom of the order. His defensive skills don't translate to fantasy.

There's still obviously a lot of potential to tap into. I hope I live long enough to see him inducted into Cooperstown.

Ian kennedy?
No way he should be on the wire. He's got good shot to be a top 25-30 SP.

His peripherals are fantastic and he's a Padre.
still available in my league but it probably has something to do with being a points league where wins are valuable. Despite his great #s hes only 2-4
Ah, yeah, I don't know how that would affect his value.

I drafted him then dropped him before the season started. Guy in my league is putting together a nice little backend of a pitching staff from guys I've dropped so far (Kennedy, Lackey, Kuroda)

Can't imagine Fister isn't rostered in most leagues, but looks like he's off the DL and starting for the Nats tonight in Oakland.

Colorado has such a crowded outfield. Stubbs is hitting well, but is he worth a bench spot? How much PT will he get?

Yeah this seems like more of a desperation callup than Odor actually being ready. I figure he'll go back down when Profar's healthy.

He's my #3 or #4 pitcher, hoping for a nice solid outing tonight and fine returns going forward.
I thought as a Tiger fan you would hope he would be terrible going forward so as to justify that strange trade Dumbrowski made
It's going to end up being favorable for the Tigers, book it. Looks less and less "strange" every day.

I picked up Mike Olt in my home league (already own in deep keeper). He's saying he changed his plate approach and I'm sure the Cubs would rather play him every day instead of Valbuena. Three homers his last three games, seems like a May hold.

Sell high on Lackey?

or try to move Yordano or Eovaldi?
Not Ventura even in a redraft. I'm not a huge Eovaldi fan like everyone else, hard to see him maintaining his K/9 rate based on his minor league history, and he's also getting 56% ground balls compared to his 46% average. He has the ballpark and the division though I guess. Lackey looks good and all his peripherals are solid.

Lots of arms on the DL leaves me with some innings to burn, so I'm looking at using a couple of steamers this week

Tyler Lyons v Cubs (Wood) and v Braves (more Wood)

Handled the braves pretty well last time he faced them and the Cubs are the Cubs. Both Woods have been pretty bad lately

Ryan Vogelsong v Braves (Minor) and v Marlins (Turner)

Vogelsong's been pretty good lately, 0.89 in last 3 outings. Minor's struggled and Marlins not so good on the road

Vidal Nuno v Mets (Wheeler) and v Pirates (Cole)

Talked about this earlier. He looked good against LAA last week and up against 2 bad lineups

How would you rate these 3?

Alex wood is out of the rotation

Id rate them...

Lyons

Nuno

Vogelsong

One thing to keep an eye on is Garcia might actually be ready for that second lyons start.

If you're in a super deep league and looking for a warm body with power potential...

Carlos Quentin getting activated Tuesday. He used to be good when he was healthy?

Darin Ruf moved up to AAA and should be activated soon. Not really an open position for him, but could get AB's if the Phils get desperate / creative enough. Revere is dog poop and Brown has been no bueno. There's been some talk of trying Byrd out in CF, although it sounds like a pretty bad idea to me. Could also spell Howard against tough lefties.

Unfortunately Ruf just missed a couple of interleague matchups. They won't play another in another AL park until mid-August

Yeah, could have potentially bought him a bigger role moving forward. Still think he could earn ABs if he hits like last year.
