Add/Drop and Waiver Wire wonderment thread: Do you still own Domingo Santana? (2 Viewers)

I managed to end up with McCann and Weiters in a 1C league. Are these guys tradeable? If so, which one would you move/drop?

Coco Crisp on the DL for 6-8 weeks possible opens the door for Billy Burns. Worth a shot if you need speed.

I've been checking Pie daily to see if Swisher or Ryu finally got designated to the DL, so I could add him. Nice job.

With Reddick out for a little while longer, I think Burns might get a lot of PT. After that, who knows. I think Canha's probably going to be taking 1B against lefties when Davis sits. Zobrist playing LF is an option, but I think he's much more valuable in the IF, and Sogard's bat is pretty bad.

I would say that I don't think A's would have any hesitation playing Burns, Fuld, and Gentry together. They might not be able to hit 10 combined HR this year, but that's a ton of OF defense. Forst said in an interview that they really look at players as a whole, and not just in terms of needing a certain amount of power.

The A's don't really care about SB, I think Eephus is right. But they care about defense, and SB and OF defense can often go hand-in-hand.

Canha is intriguing, especially if Ike Davis doesn't pan out. How many AB would you guess?

Not enough to be fantasy-relevant. He's launched some bombs this spring, but he's also struck out a ton. 250, maybe?

I'd watch.

I hate catchers
Keep them both.

Start McCann at all home games. Sit him against the occasional tough lefty.

Start Wieters against all LHP and against middling RHP.

You should be able to utilize all 162 games at CA (and even a few at UTL with both of them in plus matchups on the same day). Lots of room for profit here.

I don't think it's possible to utilize 162 CA games unless the teams adopt very predictable usage patterns (e.g. straight platoon, personal catchers). But even then, things happen like guys getting held out of day games after night games. If it's a site that allows lineup changes up until game time, you could use Twitter to follow lineups but that won't work as well for games outside the Eastern time zone.

Since Wieters is a switch hitter and will be DHing at first, he might be an every day player but I still think Buck has to divvy up PAs with Pearce, Snider and Delmon Young.

Wieters and McCann are both 80+% guys (~140 games) when they're healthy. He may not be able to nail 162 on the nose, but he'll be able to get it over 150 without trying too terribly hard I would think.

No question they're both rosterable in all leagues. The question in a one catcher league is whether it makes sense to hold both of them. They're both in that medium power, low average, no speed category. They provide great counting stat production from the catcher slot but not so much for a UT role. Some other team will need a catcher during the season. Moving one of them to acquire talent elsewhere is an obvious option.

I think we're on the same page. His next course of action probably depends on how many bench slots he has to play with here. He should be able to DL stash Wieters for a week or so to delay the decision.

Weiters definitely will be stashed on the DL/bench. When the time comes to move one, who should it be? McCann?

A decision for future annyong.

Looks like Arizona is going with gloveman Nick Ahmed at SS and Chris Owings at 2B, relegating Aaron Hill to utilityman/trade bait. Ahmed is probably only a consideration in deep NL leagues. Owings offers some medium power/speed potential if the planets align properly. You could do worse with your last pick.

No word yet on Yasmany Tomas or Jake Lamb.

I really crapped the bed at MI this year. Who do you guys like better for this week? Micah Johnson, Chris Owings, or Brandon Philips...

Also, who do you like better at UT? Dalton Pompey, Steve Souza, Adam Eaton, or Kenys Vargas?

Johnson and Souza, although I'm a little worried about the former hitting down in the lineup.

Philips to avoid a zero, Johnson speed upside

Really depends on what you want in your lineup - Vargas power, Pompey speed, Souza upside, Eaton good all around production

Looks like you crapped the bed at UTIL as well.

In a H2h league, I basically have no speed (which I'm kind of ok with). My 4th OF is Gose. When Ryu gets DL'd would you pick up Souza?

I find it hard to ever like Brandon Phillips in fantasy baseball.
He costs almost nothing and plays often enough to compile counting stats at a weak position. Not a good hitter though and his speed fell completely off a cliff

I like Chris Owings and Souza
thats who I ended up taking.
Owings had 5 steals this spring. Hopefully he can keep that going and be a 10+/20+ guy this year
We have short benches and I am thinking about grabbing Owings who currently has SS eligibility and will pick up 2B also.

Drop Nick Castellanos or Tyler Clippard for him?

Reyes is my SS and Frazier is my 3B. Feel like it's more important to protect Reyes than Frazier in a H2H league.
