Add/Drop and Waiver Wire wonderment thread: Do you still own Domingo Santana? (1 Viewer)

Mac- All joking aside. What are the stakes in your leagues?
Just a few hundred. The difference between 1st and 3rd is probably going to be ratios, right now the ERA differential between 1 and 4 is 0.02 and the differential between 1 and 5 in WHIP is .015, I'm currently 3rd and 4th respectively, but also have the least amount of innings among all of them.

If you're streaming SPs at this point in the year, you presumably need the innings because you're under-running the max IP number. You have to take some risks with this strategy.
I'm right on pace to max out my innings by year's end and with my army of starter's (dropped just about all of my bench bats), so I don't foresee hitting it being an issue. Just trying to be selective about who to start and when. Max, Fister, Arrieta, Ross, and Alvarez start just about every time out (standard no Colorado rule though), but I'm trying to be selective with Wada, Fiers, Lackey, Hendricks, Hahn, McCarthy, and based on his recent play Gio too. Peavy and Shoemaker are there too, but I haven't used either of them yet. May start deploying Shoe, but Peavy is really just there for the barrage of San Diego at the end of the season. Considering tossing him out there at home vs. Colorado next week if he does well tomorrow though.

I think he's guaranteed one more start. Could possibly take Nelson's spot in the rotation though
What makes you say that? Just curious if that has been mentioned somewhere. I hadn't read that anywhere, and Nelson seems to be pitching pretty well.

I'm keeping a watchful eye, but as of right now Nelson is in line for two starts next week, one @ San Diego. Huge for H2H.

Nelson threw 162 innings last year, he's at 152 this year. By the standard progression, that would leave him about 40ish more innings?

I have Nelson now, but DeGrom is available, trying to decide which route I want to go, and which is most likely to finish the season pitching.

At the very least, wait until after Nelson pitches in San Diego next week.

I'd love to, but DeGrom will most likely be scooped up by then, with his start coming Saturday. I think I'm just going to ride the Nelson train, and if he does get shut down, I'll find an alternative.

David Price throws 8 IP, 1 H, 0 BB, 0 ER, 9 K and takes a loss.

unless I am using the BR play index wrong, no pitcher has ever lost allowing just 1 H/BB with 9 Ks (let alone 0 ER).

Just 5 starters have ever lost when allowing 1 H/BB and no ER.

:X

Also that hasn't happened in 100 years. Nice job Tigers hitters!!!!!!

oops, I meant to put that in the Season thread, I guess.

Anyway, I am finally prepared to cut the carcass of Shin-Soo Choo. Which means now is the time to buy.

Hey guys how would you rank these bats ROS

Beltran

Blackmon

Cuddyer

Vargas
depends on your trust level of Beltran's elbow and Cuddyer's everything.Blackmon is much safer than Vargas so which one there probably depends on your team. Do you need stability or a dice roll? Vargas is hitting the #### out of the ball when he hits it, but too many k's and is having issues vs lefties,

well its weekly h2h and the championship is two weeks which would worry me starting the two old dudes although when they hit they rake. Im the #1 overall seed and have a bye next week. Ill stick with blackmon but then my last lineup spot will be between the two old men or pickup vargas.

Head to head you really have to keep Blackmon. Rockies have a home stand starting in ten days so I'd keep Cuddy for now too.

If it is me, I'm rotating Cuddyer/Beltran based on who is playing at home and/or healthy enough to play that day.

I think he said previously it's a weekly lineup league. If it's daily then this is the way to play it though.

Blackmon has been dog#### for months.
hes been terrible lately, but really wasn't that bad until then. Got a home stand coming up too.
For christ's sake. Are you ever right about anything? Unless, of course coming up means 8 days from now.

Cuddyer is dead again, sigh.
yeah made my decision easy. Still contemplating vargas but i think ill sit tight with what i have.Another question, im desperate for double starts in two weeks. I have none. Yeah i hate weekly leagues but its the hand i was dealt. I have a 10 game winning streak and a 16-4 record. And what do i get for the great year? A bye week this week and ZERO double starts the next week. I dont know how it worked out like that. Anyway, im gonna have to at least pick up one scrub just to compete in starts.

What does everyone think of Bud Norris? If things stay on schedule he faces cincy & tb next week. I missed out on carrasco.

I know alot of you play pts leagues and i really need help for my playoff matchup next week. This is why i hate this format btw. I have a 10 game winning streak yet none of my top pitchers have double starts next week. Meanwhile my opponent is rolling out 12 starts (but no closer and most of his pitchers are terrible). He has double starts by guys like Dickey, Hellickson, Hernandez. I have to start 6 SPs. I currently have locked in

Sale @CLE, Cobb vs BAL, Gray vs SEA, Arrieta vs MIL. For my last two spots i have to choose two from:

Kazmir vs HOU (struggling)

Pineda vs KC

Santana vs PHI

Shoemaker @MIN

Greene vs BOS, vs KC

Norris vs CIN, @TB

Im leaning shoemaker and greene. I can also put shoemaker at RP and bench KRod. I dont wanna overreact to all my opponents starts but im really behind the 8 ball this week in starts. Its a Points league FYI

Actually now im thinking of starting santana over arrieta

Need opponents pitchers on the days they're scheduled.
my opponent is starting:Dickey @TB, @BOS

Hellickson TOR, BAL

Hernandez WAS, ARI

Ross ARI, @COL

Lester SEA

Fister @LAD

Porcello SF

Simon NYM

12 total starts, no closers

I have a 10 game win streak. My two closers are jansen and Krod. My lineup is also stacked. I have the better team by far 16-4 record) but completely out started.

Sorry, I meant who your options are starting against. Does Santana draw Hamels? Or Kendrick? Often use that as my deciding factor in points leagues in which wins are a big part of the equation.

santana faces buchanan, arrieta vs gallardo, norris vs latos and hellickson. Greene vs kelly, ventura, shoemaker vs nolasco

Started norris and greene and shoemaker and benched arrieta and santana. Thanks guys. Cant believe im start bud norris in my semifinal

If it makes you feel better, I'm starting Eric O'Flaherty, Dustin Ackley, and something called an "Ender Inciarte."

He stole a base today!
