In "some" of my leagues you can't pickup players after 5 minutes before Sunday's first game. What is the reasoning for allowing add/drops only up until 5 minutes before the first game Sunday. Seems to me to be an unfair advantage to owning players who play the majority of their games early. For example lets say that Turner was a surprise before gametime scratch so you wanted to pickup Snelling. No problem. But lets say Gore was a also a surprise before gametime scratch before the 3:00 and you wanted to pickup Coffee. Can't do it. And worse yet all your reserve RBs have already played so you have no one to play. I know in Yahoo you can add/drop players for the game and use them as long as this added player has not played yet.

Could someone explain why you wouldn't want to eliminate this advantage of owning East coast or Midwest players versus West coast or Mountain time players? This of course would only be something you'd consider if you thought the players were equal in terms of fantasy output potential.

I am commish of a CBS league and you can't even change the settings to allow add/drops after the first game.

There's a lot of reasoning behind it, I'd guess, with very little of it intended to disadvantage owners with players in late games. The original logic was possibly to establish a point at which the waivers process takes over from FC/FS. Not sure if the league you're speaking of does waivers, but FC/FS has to be shut off to have waivers, so, there has to be a point at which its shut off.

Thanks for your response. Actually we do have a waivers process but I think it would be better if it would be shutoff 5-10 minutes before each individual player"s games. This situation gets more muddied as last week the co-commissioner asked me to make a move for him as he was away from his computer. Jackson was a before gametime inactive for this late game and I was asked to pickup Gado for him unaware that such a move was illegal.( this was just minutes before the game and I had to make the move quickly) While that turned out to be a lousy move since Gado did nothing, the owner, despite getting a zero still won this 3rd place game and there's a "small" amount of money involved. The loser of this game brought this to my attention a few days later stating that this was an illegal lineup. Problem is I'm at fault for making this move for him and not reading and understanding our own by-laws better. I guess this would have not happened if after attempting to make this FA pickup the CBS site would have stated that according to your constitution/by-laws this is not legal. I'm sure we'll get this resolved as the owners are pretty level headed but I need to deal with it. Been getting kind of sick of being commish anyway so maybe I can talk someone else into being the head commish next year.

I was hoping to get more response on this subject. I was curious if anyone last week was in the championship and had to try to find another player from your roster when Jackson was deactivatied? Would you have liked to or did you have the option of picking up a player from free agency? did any of you not have a player to put in because all your reserves had already played the early games? Do you agree or disagree on the fairness of not being to pick up players of late game deactivations?
