Addai MIGHT not play in week 15? (1 Viewer)

Colts beat writer Philip B. Wilson suggests that Joseph Addai (shoulder) may not play in Week 15 against the Lions.

The addition of Najeh Davenport indicates concern about one of the Colts' two hurt tailbacks, and Chad Simpson (ankle) says he's good to go. We'll have an update on Addai's practice participation level later Wednesday.

As one blogger has already asked about this, let's get the roster move out of the way. The Colts have signed running back Najeh Davenport, formerly of the Pittsburgh Steelers...

But the more important aspect of this roster move is that running back Joseph Addai or rookie running back Chad Simpson, and perhaps both, may not play on Sunday. I take Davenport's signing as a clear indication that one of them won't go. If I had to guess, I'd say it's Addai, just because Simpson told me on Sunday after the Bengals game that he would be OK. But Tyjuan Hagler said he was good to go last week, then didn't practice and was scratched.

Colts coach Tony Dungy said Davenport would also return kickoffs, which suggests Simpson may not go. I doubt the Colts go into the game with just two running backs, so I'll be curious to see if either Addai or Simpson at least practices later this week. Have not seen the injury report yet today, but I'm guessing both got the day off. Addai is nursing a sore shoulder, an injury he suffered Sunday and actually came back from to play briefly, while Simpson sprained an ankle on his final kickoff return.

Addai and Simpson both sat out practice today. I don't think Addai can be started this week given how he's hurt and missing practice again. The matchup is great but he's choked on back-to-back great matchups and there's zero reason to start him now in my opinion. He's just way too risky.

Good luck to those who decide to start him. He's on my bench this week and may never make it back to the starting lineup.

as it has been said a thousand times.. thank goodness I kept addai around for his easy playoff schedule. :lmao:

Update from RotoWorld:

Joseph Addai (shoulder) missed Colts practice in its entirety Wednesday.

Coach Tony Dungy says Addai "may not be able to play" in Week 15 against the Lions, which is either an indication that the shoulder injury is serious or that the Colts intend to play it safe in such an easy win. "There’s a chance (newly signed) Najeh (Davenport) could be playing right away," Dungy added. "We’ll get him up to speed as quickly as we can." Dominic Rhodes will be a borderline RB1 play if Addai is inactive on Sunday.

Addai not playing would be the best case scenario for all parties including Addai owners.

It would good news for those of us with Addai and Rhodes if he doesn't play.

I agree. It's best to just not have him anywhere near the Colts' starting lineup to avoid any possible temptation.

(KFFL) Indianapolis Colts RB Joseph Addai (shoulder) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Dec. 10. He is considered doubtful for the team's Week 15 game.

Agreed. I have both and just need one.

Grrrrr....I've got Jacobs/Ward, Rhodes, and MJD in a TD heavy and can choose 2. I would think if Addai is out that Rhodes becomes an instaplay, but who to bench? If I wait til Sunday night to decide, I'm stuck w/ the Giants starter. :lmao:

I have the same exact situation with both my RBs this week. I hope Addai & Jacobs sits so I can insert Rhodes and Ward with confidence.

Yee Haw!Anyone with both just got a big sigh of relief! :lmao:

I think Rhodes would be almost a must start if Addai was gonna play. Should get a big lead early and I am pretty sure Indy would want to rest Addai for the playoffs.
