Adjusted predictions: What 12 teams will be in the playoffs? (1 Viewer)

Given what we have seen, current records, how the schedules look, let's take a crack at picking what teams will make the playoffs, as of today.

NFC division winners: NYG, Minnesota, NO and SF

NFC wild cards: Philadelphia and Atlanta (tough call leaving Chicago out, but I think they end being the odd team out; interestingly, Chicago, Atlanta and Philly all play each other, with Atlanta hosting both, and Philly being on the road against both)

AFC division winners: NE, Pittsburgh, Indy and Denver

AFC wild cards: NY Jets and Cincinnati (I think Baltimore falls just short)

NFC division winners: Philly, Minnesota, NO and Arizona

NFC wild cards: Giants and Atlanta

AFC division winners: NE, Pittsburgh, Indy and SD (Denver collapses down the stretch)

AFC wild cards: NY Jets and Baltimore

Waiting one more week...

If the Bears beat Atlanta on Sunday night in Atlanta, they're making it. Also, the Saints-Giants will tell us quite a bit about the Saints. Same with SD and Denver.

I realize the point of the thread is to predict before those games - I'm just saying that this weeks games will much more obviously seperate the contenders and the pretenders. I think the "predictability" of the playoff picture gets significantly easier after week 6 than after week 5.

Incidentally, I find it ironic that people are putting Pitt, SD and Seattle in and leaving Chicago out, when the Bears are 3-1 and have beaten two of the three. I realized the argument, but still find it odd.

I think the Denver/San Diego will say a lot more about the Chargers than the Broncos. At 5-0, Denver has gotten better every week, and should be in it for the long haul this season, win or lose on Monday. The Chargers, meanwhile, have looked pretty awful at times and cannot afford to lose a home game to the Broncos, which would put them in a huge hole. Monday is a must-win for the Chargers.

AFC Divisional Winners: NYJ (yea yea, homer pick), Indy, Pitt, Denver

Wild Cards: N.E., Balt

My 'Zona pick is the oddball, but I believe the 9ers and Seahawks will fall back and Zona wins 10 games.
